  1. Nc750x pick yp a good used one, ride it, love it and care for it and it will hold its value. Cheap to maintain too. There are plenty of reviews of people who have done some long tours on them. 80mpg plus sounds great to me. Biking about the journey take some great rides and you won't feel like it's bland. Will be chilled out commute on it too. I believe the 2021 is slightly more sporty too

Completed a Bikesafe day with West Mercia Police (Bridgenorth). 14 of us on the course so all their police riders were occupied with us so anyone local needn't have worried about getting caught speeding :)

Very informative and having only been riding for four months I was the least experienced in attendance. It showed, I just don't ride at the speeds of the others and a few times the group had to wait for me. I rode my own ride which is what I hear so often so I only wanted to be safe and that's what the lead told me. It's spurred me on to consider further training with a group so I'll see what's about in my area. Have to say the whole event was very well presented on the day.

There's an IAM group in Wolverhampton. Worth a shot, sounds like a good day was had

Some lovely roads round Bridgnorth a few tricky spots where a few fatals have took place. They are quite big on bike safety round there hope it went well

Suzuki gn125 insurance is even cheaper than a honda cg125... Why? No idea. They are both slow and basic. If you put excess as high as possible that will ensure the insurance is as cheap as can be. Just make sure you never claim, ever. Even if it's stolen. I mean if your excess was that high it wouldn't be worth it anyway. And even at the lowest excess it probably isn't worth claiming due to the fact that your insurance for the next five years will be higher, because you have to declare any claims. So with that in mind, and wanting to avoid all and any claims simply set the excess to maximum and get the cheaper premium anyway. Disclaimer: I have not run the mathematical calculations. Please don't copy my homework, it may in fact not be very good.

Small shit bikes still have their charm anyway :) dont be too put off

That gn engine has seen a lot of uses many Chinese bikes now use its design. I think mutt mash and a few others make bikes based from it

     Simple and reliable

I'm looking to get my first motorbike at 17. I'm going to get a used one for under £2k.

Anybody know any good options to look for which also have a cheaper insurance?

Currently looking to get the LXR125.

Worth bearing in mind with the Lexmotos the short service intervals. Not an issue if your mileage is low and you want to learn how to do a bit of basic maintaining etc. As said a Japanese bike will hold it's price better and require a bit less pampering to keep it in good condition

Well.  Auction ended.  Zero interest.  It seems that entry level secondhand bikes are completely out of fashion again.  Nothing seems to be selling.

Maybe its the cold spring we are having.

Perhaps it is time her Halfords bike shaped object suffered some kind of mishap?  But no, I would be shooting myself in the foot.

I would be called out of the house to see her holding the bike.  Three words would fly across the ether.. "Broken - mend please".

Was the same with my wife's old Giant hybrid which was mint condition. Went for £50 in the end but we needed the space. I think cycles are treated as throw away items now. Just lad a local guy service my bike its been on the road for years

    Good Morning :classic_biggrin:

So, having heard nothing since my on line application weeks ago I went to the jobcentre the other day!

the place was swarming with security guards and people with clipboards, after proving my identity (twice)

I got told I was in the wrong place , given a phone number to ring, and sent on my way. I phoned the number when I got home,

waited over 40 minutes for someone to answer and eventually got to speak to a person.

yesterday I got a very abrupt text telling me that I must attend an interview today! and provide the same ID again.

Guess where? Yep, the same place I went the other day!  to be told I was in the wrong place! :classic_biggrin:

I'm sure the job centre's were all out on strike recently asking for a pay rise I don't think it's yet resolved. Sounds like they are worth every penny 🤣 anything. Gov.uk related runs of burocracy and chaos I'm afraid. I'm sure the employees have long since given up and just put their pants on their heads  and pencils up their noses

Me or the guy in the outside lane for several miles down the motorway.

He was determined to sit there at 65mph, with an empty second lane. I would of liked to pass.  Unable to before my junction, I pulled into the middle lane.

He signalled in to the middle lane but could not, he had slowed sightly and I was inside him.

Eventually he decided to change lane so I used horn to indicate my presence. He tried again and the third time I pulled into inside lane as it was now clear of traffic.

Turned out he wanted to leave at the same junction as me, it was so tempting to hold him in second lane till it was to late.

The look of desperation before I blipped the throttle to let him in behind was quite exquisite.  It would of been some detour in rush hour if he had missed his junction.

I don't know why people do this seems a lot more common now even on an empty motorway nobody uses the inside lane

Totally pissed off with this weather. Finally get the bike good to go and its raining - again. Swear to god it's been raining for 5 days out of 7 since I got home. Bloody hate this weather.

It's been pretty miserable seems if we get I day of sun we get punished with a week of rain. I don't mind the cold if rhe sun is out. I hope next month  gives us a break

  10. Whaley Bridge dam incident was one of the reasons amongst others they decided to look at an alert idea. Would have been a bit messy if that went wrong and it was a bit labour intensive telling people to leave the area. Compound that with other global patterns and it makes sense I guess

  11. Felt really tired this week full hours at work and caring for a mum with dementia daily along with cardio rehab leaves me drained. Consciously had a do what I want today wife and I had a late breakfast bought some bits for the garden and pretty much spent the day doing gentle gardening feel more chilled out. Maybe have the appetite for taking the bike out next weekend. Thus shitty grey weather's genuinely getting me down don't mind cold days with sunshine but I think we all deserve some decent weather

    Full day in the garage.

Started by changing the oil and filter on the Kwak 250, done almost 2000 miles on it since Jan. Things are much easier with a spin on filter.

Then moved onto the R1. Went to a work colleagues funeral yesterday and a group of us followed the hearse on bikes. The weather was pretty wet and we got soaked, I'm sure Carl was up there laughing at us.... It got fairly dirty so gave it a wash.

First time I've riden the R1 since January, felt pretty rusty on it for a few miles but f@k does it shift when I opened it up.

Next was the RGV, finished the brakes off and took the fairing off the clean it all up. Although I've never riden it in the rain, the dirt on the engine and frame was considerable. Changed the engine oil, I've only done 464 miles since the engine rebuild but that was over 5 years ago. Keep finding bits on it I want to spruce up or replace but where do you stop?

For breakfast I'll do a fry up or take a pot of ready to heat up porridge. Rice or pasta is dead easy to do mixed with something out of a tin thats heated up for a meal later in the day.

I have a fire pit that I can also cook burgers and sausage on if required. Often I'll just eat in a restaurant, it just depends on how remote the camp site is but I enjoy cooking something up.

Photos are from easter weekend. I've got a really compact pan set which takes up very little room but is really versatile. https://www.seatosummit.co.uk/products/camp-kitchen/x-set-32/

Lady in fuel station, about to get in the back to car, I was next in queue.  All pumps busy she saw a friend, went did obligatory hug. Hi must catch up then started conversation, then they carried on talking. I climbed back on my bike and re-started my bike every time she spoke there was a blip on the throttle.

She looked at me and I indicated she should park her car in empty bay next to her friend and carry on conversation. She just tried to carry on conversation, again I see the throttle.
When she came to speak to me, Top GunStyle (unfortunately I am no Tom cruise) the revs went up when ever she opened her mouth, she finally turned and drove off.

I apologised to cashiers and there response with a smile oh no your alright, don’t worry about it. 😁

Rather sums up modern life really. I use the train for my commute. I'm always conscious to put my bag between my legs or on my lap as I've only paid for one seat. However on the whole people tend to put their bags on other seats or their feet as they want the seat exclusively to themselves and earbuds in. I take great delight in asking them to move so I can sit down too! It's like when everyone rushes to push in to the train I happily wait it's less stressful than trying to push in front. As I often say I really don't like people that much

  15. Worth shopping around I went to leave 3 for another smaller provider 3 matched the deal when I went to leave. Most will do some form of a deal to keep you I'm paying £7.50 per month with 12gb and unlimited calls and texts which works for me. For those that use a lot of social media Voxi which is Vodafone do some good cheap deals. The social media usage doesn't come off your gb usage either
