Any other oldies remember this gem?
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to Slowlycatchymonkey's topic in Motorbike Chat
He he he so did I but was more influenced by Evil Knievel and spent most of my time increasing the height of the jumps until the inevitable occurred -
I love it. What’s a half blind dovetail?

There’s some great stuff on this forum about things people have made or done themselves, the sorts of things you often pay for but you can do yourself. The drum, the shed, the 3D printer, the food smoker, the plating thingy are just a few that spring to mind recently. There’s a wealth of knowledge here about all sorts of stuff. So if you’ve done something, made something or have a question about something you think you could do yourself stick it here. Warning I have an ulterior motive my house is falling apart and you’ve all proved yourselves more useful than YouTube so I may have more questions than contributions

Funnily enough my knife arrived today. I have a round tipped knife already but it’s rubbish at getting into packaging so I ordered the same knife (same brand and same blade length) but with a sharp tip. They are both legal. The first pic is the round tip and looks harmless (it is sold as a children’s knife ‘My First Opinel’) and the second pic looks like it could do some damage. I can see why some people would want to know why you are carrying one. On the making a national database thing what’s the point? People who commit knife crime clearly aren’t bothered about breaking the law but somehow they’ll want to register on a database?! Are armed robberies solved because they left behind weapons registered to them- no-ones that daft. You do illegal stuff with illegal stuff so some dodgy looking toerag told me! It’ll be ordinary mugs like me going about their business who find themselves on the wrong side of things just because they wanted to get into a packet of meat for some lunch! It would be a pointless knee jerk reaction to make people feel like somethings being done while some politician has found their cause and stuck their name on an ego trip that inevitably just makes peoples lives more difficult. Sermon over.

Ah well yes but nerd that I am knows it was Sammy Miller who did the course for the adult Kickstart. I’ll go now, I haven’t finished moving my books over from alphabetised to the dewey decimal system And the course was in the Donnington park race course ... and Dave Lee Travis presented the first series -

Crikey, I thought you were having a laugh but you weren't , oh dear ! Now then. Mr Martin is definitely a character. Brave and charismatic. But someone who probably experiences the downside to fame and his own inability to control his behaviour. As he has shown numerous times at Oliver's mount and to my children... OMG what’s he shown to your children -

You could have it on in the background distracting you from doing any real work Sammy Miller designed the course, is he still alive? He could do the redo. fastbob yer but Guy Martins bound to want to have a go and who wouldn’t like to see him having a dunk?! -

Another paedo in a children’s TV. No wonder the TV was so weird To be fair, It's a Knockout wasn't kids TV , it was family entertainment . They say that but same as most ‘family entertainment’ it was kids tv that adults could just about tolerate watching together with their kids a bit like top gear lol -

Children’s TV is tedious (although I’d give Horrible Histories a pass) and compared to the moralising children’s programmes in patronising tones that were thrown at you back then it was great.... well better than it’s a knockout at any rate -
I used to be glued to this programme when it was on. I hear they’re modelling the new Mod 1 test on it ">

Test centre closed after biker dies
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to elizabethf's topic in Motorbike Chat
It doesn’t say the biker was taking a test. It could have been someone taking a driving test who caused the biker to dramatically alter course- hence the test centre closing. Who knows. It’s all very vague. -
I love abandoned buildings too. This lovely mansion was one of the buildings used as nursing accommodation at when I did my training back in..... muffled noises. We were the last years intake to live there after which it was left to crumble. Such a waste. It’s owned by the government who when it finished being used for student nurses accommodation wanted to use it as a paedophiles rehab home which in green n leafy Surrey was met with such protest they just boarded it up. I keep thinking about going back but I think it would be heartbreaking to see what’s happened to it.

Not scary or harsh, great advice and insight - thanks. Yes they used mesh, not sure why they didn’t do keyhole, and they did give me a suggestion in weeks (about 6 weeks) which I just rounded to “a couple of months” for ease. Im allowed to drive later this week if I want but the abdominal strain of riding and the weight of the bike. When I asked about biking they had no idea and had to go away and think about it before suggesting 6 weeks. I’d rather take my time than rush back and make things worse, but it is boring as hell! I was going to put in the original post they will be unlikely to have a clue about riding a motorbike so ask how long they advise for other sports like swimming or horse riding and go from that but it sounds like that’s what they’ve done because 6 weeks is the standard length of time for most procedures for people who heal normally You have my sympathies on the stir crazy front. You can update the ‘wot you watchin’ thread with the million box sets you will get through
