  1. Clearly after a race. On my 125 with l plates on it would appear I was a target now on a big bike every fool in the BM, focus st wants to race. Clowns all of them. Dave
  2. Seriously mate I went there and the quality of the bikes was not great. Many looked fine on the website but in person they were grubby. I might be wrong but they seemed like a we buy any bike sort of outfit who just ship the bikes out. Like anything you need to see it, see how it rides etc. Dave
  3. Nice bike, I just bought a 1998 model in black and I love it already.
  4. Cheers. Yeah starts fine and idles ok. When it's warmed up the idle changes so I know it's time to kill the choke. That said I have an invoice for the carbs being serviced a few hundred miles ago. For a 20 year old bike it really is tight, no knocks or rattles and pulls like a train.
  5. Cheers pal, it's a 1998 so last of the carburettor models. Bit of a shock as I've gone from a 125 to this. So very small steps. Does sound cool though.
  6. The whole point is that the case is evidentially flawed with no continuity of evidence. Playing devils advocate how do we know that the camera operator didn't write the reg number of the same model bike that went passed him after the alleged offender. This for me is not a moral dilemma of telling the truth or not it's a case of exercising your legal right. The principle of the FPN is that people admit guilt before any form of trial which we are allowed under law to have. The assumption is you're guilty which is totally wrong. Under British law the prosecution have to supply evidence that proves the suspect is guilty. This particular case does not meet the threshold. Regards to double standards my children have been told do not speed, do not lie, be nice and treat others as you would have them treat you and own up to.yoir mistakes. That's all well and good, but if you weren't speeding, he would have no reason to write down your number, and as for two identical bikes passing, unless they were side by side or within inches of each other, they would both have to be speeding, so fair cop, at least one would be caught, or they were both within the speed limit, so once again no need to record reg numbers You'reissing my point. No we shouldn't speed but if the authorities want to prosecute then they have to have ALL the evidence not some of it. And for the record the bit of paper he wrote the number on is evidence and has to be exhibited and presented at court. I very much doubt it is still available. Like I said case is evidentially flawed.
  7. Because if you done something wrong you should... It is called honesty, and is generally seen as being a good quality to have. Or do you teach kids to lie about everything they do cause they can only be told off if they are caught? A case of double standards, we bitch and moan, at kids for breaking the law, but what else are they expected to do, when the people who they should look up to, and lead by example, break the law themselves, The whole point is that the case is evidentially flawed with no continuity of evidence. Playing devils advocate how do we know that the camera operator didn't write the reg number of the same model bike that went passed him after the alleged offender. 8. I realise what you mean about there being a whole range of contributory factors and speed alone isn't the single issue - but it is of itself a significant contributing factor to road accidents and the severity of injury sustained. Speeding does kill, it's why we need as a society to start regarding speeding in the same way as we regard drunk driving. Unfortunately speed is often glamourised in films, sport and advertising which is why culturally we haven't clicked to how significant speed is as a cause of death and injury. Most of the young deaths I deal with are road accidents and in the overwhelming majority those left behind have to deal with the fact that speed was an issue. Which makes it harder for them because they know their loved one either caused their suffering or the loss of their loved one was caused by someone else's decision to drive at speed. It stops being an accident and starts to feel deliberate. There is a huge difference between a death which was genuinely accidental and death caused by someone's deliberate decision. I take it you work for the emergency services. Your quite right that speed was the issue due to their lack of ability, experience, not being able to read the.road or too fast for the conditions. That's human error, youth, stupidity or whatever. To counter particular for cars they have never been safer for both drivers and pedestrians. Bike are a different story altogether. Having said that a sports car for me when 18 was was a Mini 1275GT now it's an AMG Merc on hp.
  9. I think these are two separate issues to be honest. If the authorities can't provide evidence why would one admit it? After all we're innocent until proven guilty or not in the case of FPN's. Unfortunately speed doesn't kill people. People kill people through lack of skill, exoerience or knowledge. As a driver I have years of experience and I am highly trained on a bike I have little experience so ride within my limits.
  10. Thanks for the replies. Put new Led bulbs in and it turns out the original cheap indicators had resistors in them. The original flasher relay didn't have a resistor so got myself a unit with a resistor in it and hey presto all is now working fine. Everyday is a school day, thanks again. Dave.
  11. Currently rife in the Rochdale area. All bikes too from 50cc scooters to BMWs. One last week guy on a bike surround by 3 scumbags tried to grab his keys from the ignition barrel. On of the scumbags was on a bandit hopefully he'll over cook it and come off, preferably whilst wearing shorts t shirt and No helmet.
  12. Phone checks will not be done for a simple speeding offence. And in any case it would just mean that the phone was in the area not with the bike as the system is very inaccurate. There is insufficient evidence to prosecute. The operator could have wrote down the number wrong, no facial image so impossible to say who was riding it. Regards the 172 how can you say you were riding the bike when there is no number plate or photo evidence to support it. Personally contest it, fpn's assume guilt and the alleged guilty party decide to pay as the penalties at Court are higher. Anpr will again only say your vehicle was at a specific location NOT the offence location.
  13. Cheers , no I haven't as I had LEDs onnin the first place. Thanks Dave
  14. Cheers , no I haven't as I had LEDs onnin the first place. Thanks Dave
  15. Hi all, right then bough 4 new Led indicators and fitted them yesterday. First issue they only came with one wire so I presume that they would earth through the metal body. Anyway ended up having to solder and earth wire to each to get them to work.. Every time I wired up and fitted an indicator I checked it and the hazard lights work. Now all four are fitted when I switch the indicators on left or right nothing happens for about five seconds then they start flashing and sometimes nothing happens at all. And the hazard lights don't work at all. I am thinking that the bulbs aren't led as sold with the lights and despite looking at them I really can't tell if the are or not. Any ideas please because I spent 8 hours yesterday with the dark art that is motorbike electrics.
  16. Thanks for.all the replies,, great help. Looks like Santa will be getting me one. Cheers Dave
  17. Hi all, think I know the problem but after a second opinion. Got a lexmoto arrow which now it is cold takes a while to start up on the electric starter. If I use the kicks start it always jumps in to life after a couple of goes. I now only ride a total of 6 miles to and from work so I don't think that the battery is getting enough charge on a short run. I am thinking it's time for a battery optimiser/ charger. The battery was new in May this year. Any advice welcome. Dave
  18. I'm guessing you're going off the Speedo for speed which will almost certainly be inaccurate. Regards.to police if you're riding in a sensible manner you are unlikely to get stopped. If you were ever stopped the chances are the cop won't have a clue about the restrictions or or to tell if it has been derestricted. Most don't have a clue about CBT's to be honest. Unless they're bikers themselves in which case you'll be right. The only worry might be if you get stopped by a traffic cop. They might dig a little deeper but in all honesty they've all got too much on their plates to be bothering about finding out if your bike is derestricted unless you were involved in a fatal. Which hopefully you won't be. It's great you're looking at the legal implications but try not to over think it. As long as you're riding safe and within the law I'm sure you'll be fine. Dave
  19. The popping you mention does it occur when you back off the throttle? As that would indicate it's running lean. Without you having somewhere to start ie looking at the plug it is difficult to say what it is as there are many variables. Dave
  20. I can only relate to my car experience as I'm new to bikes too but I guess the principles are the same. Firstly I'd check the spark plug and see what colour it is. Should be a grey/ brown colour. If it's black it's too rich if it's grey it's too lean. Then depending on your spark plug I'd suggest having a look at the carb. Might have a bit of gunk in it or might not be set up right. Does it need choke to start or will it start without it? Dave
  21. Have a look on Chinese motorcycle parts online. You can search on thee for a parts diagram on there I have had a quick look and your bike is listed. Dave
  22. Frank the quickest way I can think of to find out is to go to the Chinese motorcycle parts online website. So a search for your current engine and there's a drop down tab which will tell you what other bikes it is compatible with. If the bike which you have the second engine is on the list it should be an indicator that it will fit. Dave
