whats Stupid about the CBT.....
Mightycaz replied to polecat's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I couldn't get the hang of clutch control when I did my CBT either, I was asked to go back for another morning with the instructor at a cost of £40. I did'nt mind this coz he was good about it and explained what I was doing wrong and how to get over it! Sounds to me like this guy just couldn't be bothered with the hassle of actually having to teach someone. If I were you I'd go down with your lad and demand a geared CBT and then "sit in" on the day and see what the guy is like. Chances are if you turn up on your bike he will know you know what you are doing and actually do the CBT properly! -
Yeah, we have a pretty good set up here, I would tell you where your closest one is but I don't know where abouts you are. Go to .panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Dealers/All+Dealers/220395/index.html#anker_221332 and enter your post code. Any Panasonic Store will have a 3D display, the others are hit and miss as there was a stock shortage for a while....

if not want a good deal on gear then set a max budget, go to a shop and buy it all in the same place. In most cases view will do you a bit of discount because you are buying in bulk and In the hope you will go there in the future! also, go in a week or 2 before you need to buy it and get chatty with the staff, i did that and am on first name terms with most of em now which gets me a 10% discount on most things....

Nothin wrong with having a harley helmet, My mrs is looking at a set of leathers for going pillion and she likes the Yamaha R series ones, even though I ride an XJ.........
-
I have mine so I can just about see my arms/elbows in each mirror (on the inside) if that makes sense? You will always have a huge blind spot on bike mirrors hence the need for life savers! I think Dan got himself some of those curved stick ons for the corners of his morrors, like the ones mini busses have on the back window only smaller. Never used em so can't say if they are any good or not.........

Yeah but the only way to get the revvs high enough to engage the altinator is to sit there for 30 mins revvin it, Just go out for a half hour ride and see how it does then. If not get yourself an optimate, about £60 but will come in usefull for years to come!

Sounds like the battery is out, bumping it would work but not idling. I'm pretty sure you need to be in gear for the battery to charge (someone will confirm) I had to get a new relay for mine once, it was doing what your seems to be doing, turning over but not firing. Might be best to take it to a garage and have somebody give it a once over to see how it is! Where are you from? I found a local guy to me who works out of a lock up in a small industrial estate who would do any work for less than half price than a "proper" garage. Front fork seals changed by this guy £50 at Bill Smiths £179.99.

Bit of a blast anyone?? North Wales and North West!!
Mightycaz replied to Mightycaz's topic in North West Rideouts and Meets
Sorry Cobbz, by the time my mate had got away from his mrs (he got dragged out to the shops!) it was 4 before I even met him! It would have been time for you to get home by the time we got to the Cat to meet you! Went for a blast to the Ponderosa instead. Next time I will be a bit more organised when getting people together for a ride. Nice one for getting in touch tho dude!! -
I had an intruder too!! When you say it is dying, is it slowly losing revs and then cutting out? Mine used to do it all the time! There is a rev screw on the left hand side of the engine just above the spark plug, you want it to be idleing at about 1500 (you'll have to guess as there is no rev meter!) In the morning I would normally start mine with the choke on and leave it to warm up whilst I had a fag and a cuppa before setting off, I also got pretty good at changing the idle whilst sat at traffic lights as if it was cold/damp it would die when I stopped.....

North Wales Camping weekend - 10th September
Mightycaz replied to GarethNW's topic in Wales Rideouts and Meets
Have you thought about shell island? Supposed to be good, never been there but all my mates rave on about it! I may be able to come and join in the fun but I start a new job on monday so getting the weekend off may be hard. The joys of working in retail eh?!? -

Dang, There should be 4 or 5 of us goin so if you are free later on or things change let me know!! -
Heya bitchez! Does anyone fancy goin for a ride on either Wednesday (3rd, tomorrow!) or Thursday? Me and a mate can do either day and are just waitin on a few other people to get back to us to let us know which day is best, we were thinkin either the Cat or the Ponda but we do these all the time so would be willing to go somewhere else if anyone knows any good routes to go down within a sensible distance (no more than a full tank from start to finish!) from Chester!

I bought my GF a Box helmet a few weeks ago, only cost about £60 and the popper on the strap came off. I took it back to the HG store I bought it from and they sent it back to Box (oxford) to be repaired. A week later they called me and said they had got it back only it was a brand new lid as it was cheaper for them to write it off and give me anew one than it was to replace the chin strap. Give it a go, I think most motorbike clothes shops will bend over backwards for you as this is quite an expensive hobby and over the years you will probably spend thousands in em!!
-
Hi, pop into newbies and say hello if you plan on sticking around! I don't know any companies that do day insurance but I know most of them will do a weeks cover for not too much.....
-
I was always told at a stop sign you had to stop and put your don't down, a give way means just that! I think he would have failed his mod 2 for that in all honesty. its a bit gash making himpay for a whole new session!
-
I failed my mod1 twice but passed the mod2 first time, all my instructor said I was a capable rider and must put it down to thinking about the technical stuff on the mod1! £1500 is alot to spend on getting your licence and you already have a big bike so a 125 might be a drastic step, why don't you see if you can get a shitty one for cheap it might be worth it. How much do you pay per test with bike hire and a lesson? I think I paid about £220 so if you can get one that Is road worthy for around the 300 mark it might be the best bet?!? or just nail the mod2 next time and get on the big one!!
-
Doesn't the MOD 1 pass last for 2 years like the CBT? It really depends on how how deep your pockets are, I would always tell people to get a 125 and get some hours solo on the road to get your confidence/roadcraft upto speed. I know you have been driving a car for a while but as I am sure you know they are worlds apart. Good luck with what ever you decide to do mate and don't give up!!

Mod 1 passed on 2nd go
Mightycaz replied to AdeyT's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Well done mate, look forward to the MOD 2 now. Thats the easy one. You would'nt beleive the amount of people who fail their first MOD 1 for being 1-2KPH too slow, it takes the piss............ Again, Well done!!!! -
mod 2 - traffic lights
Mightycaz replied to dimmers's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
gutted mate! did you not try to talk your way out of it? were you holding us other traffic?at least next time you know to just go straight through it..... -
mod 2 - traffic lights
Mightycaz replied to dimmers's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Filter lights annoy the crap out of me, sometimes you can wait for a full cycle before they go green sometimes they don't! If its clear then just go for it, I think you can be failed for "not making sutable progress"....... -
Well done mate!! Hope you ripped those L plates off and burnt em.......... I did!!
