I ended up successfully bending a Halfords clip to my will. It's not pretty... but it's not wobbly either.

Poop! That bluming mod 1! I put my foot down during the figure of 8 I kept it together when I hit black ice leaving the school this morning but as soon as I get on that test pad it all goes to pot. Ah well third time lucky and all that
Rats! I was always putting my foot down in the u-turn. You'll get there!

You aren’t a proper biker unless you’ve dropped it at least once. Oh and have some metal body parts.
Both of those now, and I get my cast off my hand next monday so I can ride again!!!

This video helped me alot:
Fortunately I was shown how to do this when I did my training!

Do all devices always need to be directly connected to the negative terminal on the battery?
-
Use a relay switch on the power supply then if wired correctly you cant leave your accessories powered up with the ignition off so no coming back to a dead battery because you left your camera or sat nav power supply on
Can you give a bit more explanation about what this is, and how to fit it? Thanks!

I agree with 2nd gear, and I agree it's worthy of hate. Failed it the first time, but so glad I got licensed - it's worth it!

Was really hoping to find the actual part - I bought one of the Halfords H7 springs and have tried to bend it into shape - succeeded only in weakening the metal to the point of breaking with very little effort.

It doesn't look too difficult to make using a bit of wire and some pliers .
I thought it might come to that

Hey folks, done a bit more investigating. It is indeed a Scottoiler.
Was tracing all its connections, and found one end attached here:
Looking at the instructions for ER6F installation, their website says "Locate the vacuum – There is a rubber cap over a spigot on the throttle body. Remove one of these caps and then press the Damper Elbow onto the spigot."
So I've obviously found the Damper Elbow. If I were to choose to remove the Scottoiler, what would happen if I took that Damper Elbow off? Note: I see no rubber cap anywhere to replace it!

Amazing, thanks!

As a noob to biking with a broken hand, I'm desperate for all things bike while also unbearably frustrated not being able to ride. Any tips for things to watch/do?

Thanks guys! When I have 2 hands I'll take a proper look at how it's set up.

Although looking at it again, the tube that is not hooked up could be the filler tube. The clear one the other end looks like it might have fluid in and the black one is the vacuum tube. I had the touring model fitted so yours is a different design to mine. Look for a tube that’s fitted to the swingarm, running along it with a little nozzle that’ll drop a bit of oil onto the chain every minute or so.
Will do, thanks!

Looks like a scottoiler reservoir to me.
Thanks! That's handy, will have to see if it's hooked up correctly now I know what it is!

Do you play guitar?
Yep, guitar playing is an absolutely huge part of my life.

Can I ask how did you manage to fall?
Not a biking injury, just tripped.

And the £187 per time.....
Whaaaaat? Why so much when mine was £75?

Can understand how you feel. Any damage to the bike?
Fortunately not. Crash mushrooms did their job!
Question about taking bends

Hi folks. I'm finally getting some miles under my belt after passing my DAS, and wondered if you could help me out.
I understand counter-steer, but I think I'm hesitant about just how much to push and lean. I guess I'm worried about tipping over.
If I'm cornering to the right and I misjudge the speed, I end up veering towards the gutter on the left. If to the left, I veer towards the middle of the road.
Guess at solutions: either I slow down considerably, or I lean and steer much deeper. I guess what I'm asking is: what's happening to the contact patch and my traction on the road when I'm taking bends? Am I safe to just use the right amount of steer and lean it'll take to keep a line through the middle of my lane, or should I slow down?
