  1. whoah, fugly . It looks like someone let an American train spotter loose in a Lambretta design studio.
  2. That Fazer is almost exactly like my old one, including colour and mileage (roughly). I bought it for under 2K and commuted on it for about 6 years. Then sold it for a decent price. Don't forgo buying something (and thereby deny yourself a decent machine) just because you think you might not get a decent resale. As long as there are new riders wanting a 'safe and easy' first big bike there is always the chance of decent resale. Go for it.
  3. As others have said, you really need to go and sit on a few to see how they feel. A couple of years ago I switched from Fazer FZS600 to a V-Strom 650. They are very different bikes but both nicely manageable for commuting or touring. The V-Strom is slightly taller than the Fazer. The Fazer is much smoother in acceleration. The V-Strom is heavier and bulkier than the Fazer but surprisingly nimble (depending on biking experience I suppose). The V-Strom has better wind protection and is more comfortable than the Fazer. Both give good mileage but I find the V-Strom is better. If you buy either of these you will not regret it. Good luck.
  4. This is what I was wondering. Quite a horrifying thought really, makes me shudder to think of someone having an off with one of those on.
  5. Cheers Stu, an interesting and rather worrying video. Just out of interest, do you know if the meringue-like helmet had any Standards markings? It was a little too mushed to make anything out at the end.
  6. The Highway Code does not advise on where to filter. So the police would not consider it as an issue. Sorry, I wasn't implying it was an issue with the law or highway code. Just mentioning why I personally feel filtering up the outside is safer. I also ride a bicycle and will filter up the inside wherever there aren't cycle lanes, but never with a motorcycle.
  7. > "Still, nothings broken and il be okay soon enough so ill count my self lucky" Good attitude to have. Best advice I will give is get out as soon as you can again on two wheels and don't brood over it. Time off the bike and over thinking can prevent you getting back out and enjoying the ride. Hope you mend quick pal. That said, here is my two pence worth: I would never filter on up the inside (packed motorways excepted). Anyone at a junction waiting to emerge will probably not see you even though you see them. They will be concentrating on the larger vehicles. Anyone turning across the lane (as in your case) will not see you (Remember, if you cannot see them then they cannot see you). Same applies when riding an empty road, if a car is waiting to emerge from a junction get yourself to the outside of your lane where there is more chance of them seeing you (and you don't blend with whatever is on the verge such as trees and hedges). Filtering up the outside allows you good vision of turning vehicles and many drivers are becoming more aware of bikers doing this so it is more expected than coming up the inside. On the plus side, if you do get stuck whilst filtering up the outside you can always have a chat with the driver next to you (every little helps in getting bikers a better reputation among the car loving community I'll stop rambling now, all the best and get out there asap. Oops forgot to say, I think you're looking at a 50/50 like others have said.
  8. Thanks, that was fascinating. Wonder if this could ever have any actual use. i don't see automated bikes catching on like cars will some day (this bike seemed remote controlled with a set path rather than being automated, but I could be wrong)
