Looks like a friend has found out what it was..... Stone Spider (Drassodes cupreus / Drassodes lapiidosus). Pictures look very similar and the description matches. Also appears to be a female according to one website on spiders habitats. Yay cheers folks.

Cheers TimR, I have a shed full of false widows and this easily dwarfs any I've seen before. I can't find a picture of any like it no matter how much I google.

Good afternoon folks. I went for a ride this afternoon and when uncovering the bike this little lady fell out. I say little but she was the biggest spider I've seen in a very long time. I also say lady because I can't see any obvious spurs on her. Anyway, Her body (not including legs) was just over an inch long and about 3/4 inch wide. Yep, bloody big. Her hair is extremely fine, to the point of being almost unnoticeable. The picture doesn't do her colour justice at all. She has a strikingly Lilac abdomen (or light purple) with a darker purple thorax and black parts to her legs. I only know enough to recognise most house and garden varieties and am happy to pick them up. This one, however, was a big no no. Didn't recognise, big, fast. Any help? Cheers

Inside of an abandoned hospital ,sanatorio, at Greece

Enjoyed that, Cheers. For a building abandoned almost 10 years it seems not much has happened to it but time. The local scrotes round here would have smashed every window and set fire to anything combustible within a couple of years. -
The driver of a black Audi driving from Upavon the Devizes Wiltshire today. Driving like a drunken tit, then to cap it all slams his brakes on and stops dead still on the exit of a roundabout (blocking the road for others to leave the roundabout) in Devizes centre so he could play with his satnav. Being on the bike I tooted at him then squeezed past. He completely ignored me (didn't even glance round) and kept playing with his satnav. At the next roundabout I looked in my mirrors and saw he was still sitting there with cars trying to get past and honking at him.

how can you tell your bike is too much for you?
Mack01 replied to mike_1984's topic in Motorbike Chat
A quick google tells me that the weight difference between cbr and fzr is about 27/28kg so it will feel heavier. Get out as much as possible on straight or slightly bendy roads with one or two junctions and you'll get used to the feel and weight. I think your problem may stem from the weight issue, you are subconciously afraid that you might drop it due to it being heavier than the cbr. It's exactly the same as when you went from 125 to 600. Confidence is the key, slowly slowly build this up and you'll soon find everything such as slow turns etc become easier. Until then does it really matter if you put one foot down when turning, or if you go through bends slower than usual? You've passed your test but the learning doesn't ever stop, especially from bike to bike.. Go out and enjoy yourself on it. -
Yep, have noticed in the last couple weeks that the roads round here are greasier than usual for the time of year. It has nowt to do with leaves as there aren't any fallen yet. No mud or dead things on the road either. I reckon it is as Marino says, build up of dirt over a dry spell then not enough rain to wash away adequately. Where I live seems to have a high amount of atmospheric dust. It settles on everything. So, that and a little water = slippy roads. A mate from work came off the other day doing under 10mph on a slight corner due to a slippy surface. He was going slow enough to not get injured. hoping that the coming rain will give the roads a good wash down.

Same here, I'm also 5'7" and in 20 years never had a bike that allowed me to put my feet down flat. Tip toes is fine for me but it does mean carefully reading the road surface ahead when about to stop. As stated above, if the road slopes down to the left I put my right foot down and vice versa.

No, your riding sounds fine. Stay cautious, stay safe.

I got stuck with this believe it or not . I just don't recognize the operating system to write and save text . I guess it must have been dumbed down so much that I can't understand it . Let's face it , most of the toothless pond life on Jeremy Kyle seemed to be able to f**k up their desperate lives with it so perhaps I should just walk away . If you can walk away then it's probably best. The only thing I use it for is to keep in contact with family and close friends.

Personally can't stand FB but I do use it. Try clicking on the top that says "What's on your mind (fastBob)". Then click Photo/video. A box should appear with your comp files in. Select the file and then the photo. Double click it to upload. Add a comment either before or after doing this (doesn't matter). Press 'Share'. Job done. HTH

Inside leg is the key factor........at 5'11" I've got a 34.5" inside leg......which is pretty long. So I've never really had a problem flatfooting anything.......whereas mates of mine around 6'2" are tippytoed on the same bike. Drawback is when I'm behind any taller screen I'm looking through it, rather than above it, because my body is short! As a rough guide I'd say a 32" and above inside leg would be fine on a Strom.......unless you possess these insane skills! "> I'd agree with that rough guide. I'm 31 inside leg and although I manage fine I am constantly judging the camber of any stopping places which can potentially cause me problems.

Good choice of bike As for height, I'm just under 5'8" and manage ok on mine.

Self taught. I only shave once a week (sometimes less) and use a modern cut-throat/ straight razor. Simple, cheap, and doesn't clog. I have grown to enjoy the process of each shave, a sort of ritual that requires time and patience.

I use foam ones. At first they gave me a headache on long journeys but I now snip approx 5mm off the tip of each and have no problems with them at all. On long journey I forget I'm wearing them. They muffle sound extremely well but aren't totally sound proof which is exactly what I want.

That'll buff out Glad you're ok, those clothes certainly did what they were supposed to. I'll have to remember that brand when I next go shopping for gear.

How about the Three Peaks challenge? training for it consists of lots and lots of walking in the hills.

oh yeah, totally agree with you there Rich. Cosy little box that provides a sense of complete and utter protection from whatever is outside of it, with music as loud as they want, they just switch off into their own little world with no regard for other road users.... until.... BANG! SMIDSY

I really don't believe the 'loud exhausts saves lives' as I have witnessed on several occasions some dipshit driving along oblivious to an ambulance behind them with blue lights and sirens. It's quite scary the vast amount of drivers unaware of their surroundings.

Saw it last Saturday in 3D. It had some good bits but overall I left feeling a little flat about it. Way too long, way too much self pity, several scenes repeated such as the all female battle scene (which lasted all of 10 seconds). Just a repeat of infinity war where Nat and the warrior woman fight the bad female to defend red witch (which lasted way longer than the Endgame one). And what was with 'Bulk' (as i now call him), hulk and Banner in harmony? He has become some sort of weird joke. The final battle was short lived, and Thanos had greater strength in that without the stones than he did in infinity war with the stones, makes no sense there. Mystic woman wasn't keeper in NY (or wherever it was) she was somewhere like Katmandu at that time. Anyhooo, no not impressed.. will have to watch it a few more times to see if it's a grower (I doubt it).

When you do your DAS ask your instructor about bigger bikes. Nobody here has seen you ride, nobody here therefore knows your riding skills. Your instructor will have watched you carefully and assessed you. He/she will be the only person to be able to offer you accurate and proper advice on which sized bike you are ready for. Good luck.
