  1. I think to be honest, there is a large proportion of the biking community that would like to race but as mentioned above money is the main issue. Motorcycle racing is probably a bit cheaper to get into than auto, but it's still damn expensive. Also important to remember that you race only on the track. If you want to race do it on a track and not the road (by that I don't mean don't enter the Isle of Man TT I mean stay safe when riding on the road, as when racing you don't have cars, lamp post, etc... around to hit) But all the best mate and if you make it we all expect paddock passes and jobs as mechanics
  2. Jongw, depends how old you are? if your 20 years old or younger then you could probably get practising and maybe do some club meets if your any good then you could see about entering in a superstock or supersport championship but it will cost good money even at national level as you need a good bike and mechanics. Nothing to say you can't do it but it will as described before take a lot of self investment and then of course the other thing you need is talent which is a one word answer for saying balance, bravery, skill, tactical knowledge, etc.. and of course.... what every sports man or woman requires.... some luck. Right place, right time, etc... BTW if you 20+ nothing to say you can't do it... but obviously the younger you start the better... don't think Troy Bayliss started properly until he was 26 - 27 years old
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeVTm0aZEsc makes you cringe every time you watch it.
  4. what a weekends racing... got to feel a little sorry for Simon. I did although at the same time the old saying goes ...."you've got to race until you see the chequered flag." Amazing MotoGP race. Great last lap battle and it has set the championship up brilliantly 106 for the top three.... the championship starts in Assen.
  5. But don't you think Rossi was a bit egotistical? all the after race celebrations that started back when he was in 125cc. Don't get me wrong I think that Rossi is the greatest of all time and I'm a huge fan... but when I look at Lorenzo I see Rossi 'mini me' Rossi vs Lorenzo ----------------------- After race celebrations check Style and play up to the camera check Amazing talent and ability to battle check Rivalrys (Biaggi) check (Pedrosa) Energy drink sponsor check Best friend in garage check (appeared today) Personality of the paddock check There are more but I think I'll leave it there. Lorenzo is Rossi - about 7-8 years. I can't believe other people can't see this.
  6. you say that like its a bad thing? I might look good in lycra..... I don't
  7. Thought I'd post this as I know there are several ladies on here who like to moonlight with a bit of Motorcycle brolly work or who have submitted to be an MCN babe. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Yamaha World Superbike Team is excited to be able to bring the glamour and adrenalin fuelled action of the 2009 World Superbike Championship to a lucky handful of girls*. Good luck ! *Please carefully read the conditions before registering. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bit sexist though ain't it? I'd quite like to get on a WSB grid next to Ben Spies and have a chat but because I'm not a woman I can't. What happened to equality. Equality for men
  8. Toseland is a fantastic rider, there is no arguement about that. But when the other three Yamaha's are finishing inside the top 5 most of the time and JT is struggling to make it inside the top 10 it doesn't bode well for JT for 2010. I think the post season switch and bad publicity has caused JT's downfall. He is now trying too hard to prove a point and instead of going faster.... well he's just not.
  9. Yey it seems that my jinx has been lifted. I sold Byrne and bought Haslam and he managed to get a third and a second. I have a feeling I will lose ground this weekend as my BSB team is pretty weak at present.
  10. I agree with both comments on here. I'm personally not bothered about the nationalities of the riders in MotoGP, WSB, BSB and all the others. But at the same time it does give you a extra boost when someone from your home country wins. It's like watching a sport and then watching the same sport with money on the outcome. It just gives you an extra peak of interest. Personally I think we have seen the best of JT. He'll have a few good results this year but to be honest I don't see any other riders than Lorenzo, Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa, Dovi and Vermuelen making a podium this year. I think if some guys like Rea, Crutchlow and Laverty were given the opportunity then they could possible perform quite well. Rea has always done quite well and is beating MotoGP star Checa at present with a bike which is not performing well with the control tyre. Who knows what would have happened if he had been allowed to ride for Team Roberts in the Donington GP a few years ago. Laverty is now proving what he can do, lets be honest he's been riding crap machinary in 250GP for the last few years. These guys are all young and could if given the chance make a good go of things in MotoGP but at the same time let us be honest. The best they can hope for is a satelitte team which means they will need sponsorship and British riders struggle for Sponsorship, just like Brawn GP is struggling. If a Formula 1 team that has won 3 out of the 4 races can't get sponsorship what chances do our riders have?
  11. You may have heard this mentioned on Eurosport. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w2rU7E35ho
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFOFzCOglQk Another one explaining how he had to give up so much to achieve what he's achieved today. I bet those bullies feel pretty dumb now. Probably working selling insurance in an office somewhere while Casey is getting paid to ride bikes and be a superstar.
  13. There seems to be sections of the the motorcycling crowd who seem to have a dislike for Casey Stoner and there doesn't really seem to be any justification for it, well unless your a Rossi fan and you dislike everyone who beats Rossi. Anyways just thought I'd post a link or two showing how the young lad has progressed and made it to the top. Natural talent and lots of hard work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxZHa3K27M8
  14. I must say something has happened to Byrne not sure what though. maybe just a bad run, maybe the new baby is having an effect but I've decided that we should part ways. Good luck Shakey I seem to curse riders as everytime I pick them they mess up. Maybe your form will improve now. (note to everyone buy Byrne) Also gone is Josh "I can't fill out a VISA form properly" Brookes, who cost me valuable points by being in Australia when he should have been in England and Toni Elias, who for some reason is really struggling on a factory spec Honda. I wasn't expecting that or his team mate to be in front. Maybe its changing back from a Ducati to a Honda or maybe again he's just having a bad run. Elias Sold (note to everyone buy Elias) Anyways I've been in and given each rider a team talk and dividing wall so there are no excuses. Good Luck everyone.
  15. Only messing mate, I know we've been through this discussion again and again and again. BBC is ok although on the comment about the commentators they should get some. Calling James Toseland, James Thompson. and Andrea, Andre??? Would the football commentators call Wayne Rooney, William Rooney?
  16. Oh yeah, you will of course only be able to watch BSB if you have Eurosport as the BBC don't believe it to be important enough to show. Nice to see that MotoGP is already getting thrown around the TV schedule by BBC for any sport. We all knew this would happen but now we can all suffer. Red button, BBC3 etc... what about the poor people who haven't gotten BBC3 yet? and it was only golf. what next MotoGP pushed to BBC4 because show jumping or curling is on. PLUS I'm sorry but get some proper commentators. So far this year I've heard of some bloke called Andre Dovizioso and James Thompson. Thought he was a touring car driver.... oh now I see The BBC can't even get the British guys name right.
  17. HAPPY DAYS... I was really hacked off last night after waiting 6 months for some MotoGP action only for it to be cancelled before they had even turned one wheel off the starting grid. What a day. BSB in an hour and then MotoGP. Grab the beers, grab the crisp's and take the batteries out of the door bell and phone.
  18. 2005 was in August I think... but to be honest it's not too hot. World Superbikes raced there about a month ago and they done two races not just one. very disappointed
  19. yeah we can all make changes for the next race, but what a disappointment. Just heard from Toseland one option was that they may run the race tomorrow. Don't know if thats a realistic option or not. What a damn shame though, you wait six months and then rain stops play and not because they can't ride in it... no it's because of those stupid floodlights so the reflection off of the track is blinding the riders. Qatar 2010 needs to be raced in the day.
  20. Alot of anger from the motorcycling community about this on the MCN site understandably as Motorbike fans wanna see him race and although on one hand I agree surely instead of sending him back he does have a passport let him into the country and go to the embassy to sort out the visa. HOWEVER, rules are rules and if you are moving to the UK to race SURELY you would make sure and double check that your visa is in order? I've seen similar things happen in Go Karting and other forms of motorsport. It seems no matter whether your a Valentino Rossi, Josh Brookes or Joe Bloggs we all get treated the same. How stupid though, he has effectively given himself a 50 point deficit on the rest of the field.
  21. Well for those of you who thought buying Josh Brookes in the BSB side of the fantasy draw (Yes I was one of them) We won't be getting any points from his this weekend as he is still in Australia. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2009/April/6-12/apr0709-Brookes-visa-problems/ Fabulous, I'll be sliding down the leaderboard as we speak
  22. Robbie Rolfo has been.... well I don't know the exact correct term for it... told he is no longer needed by the team. Not sure if he has been fired, released, or is working as a test rider. However John Hopkins is replacing him. I don't know if that means that you get Hoppers points or not.
  23. An even scarier point is, if you look carefully in slow motion at one point his head has been forced to almost a 90 degree angle to his body. bloody lucky he didn't break his neck. JT keeps landing on his head though. He clearly needs some flying lessons from Lorenzo who always lands on his ankles. Stop landing on your head JT you don't want to brain you damage. All joking aside though that was nasty and I'm very glad to hear that JT is on the mend. Another point is though have you noticed that it's only the Yamaha's that snap out of line like that. I reckon Yamaha need to go back and look at the code behind their traction control systems because no Ducati, Honda, Suzuki, Hayate (Kawasaki should be called kawa-sacked-me ) rider has such violent spills.
  24. On a positive note though, how much better do those Tech 3 bikes look with the new colour scheme. Pretty damn good. the Yellow and Black really sets it off.
  25. my thoughts too I'm afraid, I wish the lad all the luck in the world but ever since he had that HUGE off in testing it's obviously knocked his confidence and he's been struggling around the back of the pack. Now he's had another big off. I can see him doing a Lorenzo and spending a few races in 14th building his confidence before getting back to where he was in 2008 and I just don't think that will cut it. It's tough at the top maybe he can pick up a ride in a satelitte honda team? or maybe take a suzuki seat but I wouldn't beat on it.
