  1. Moody/Ryder and Mamola keep you up to date with all the latest gossip/news/rumours around the paddock. Whereas BBC always seems to be 1 to 2 races behind when it comes to news like riders moving.
  2. £20 on top of already paying for a license fee, thats too much I refuse to pay I have Virgin (formerly ntl) and the channel 301, 302 thing doesn't work. but thanks for the info.
  3. gotta agree with you there the adverts do suck.
  4. I had a read on this subject last night and it make me so mad. It's just another example of how people who get in to management positions seem to know very little but earn a lot. Dorna spoke to the press and mentioned that the reason they were offering the TV rights to national broadcasters is because they want to get MotoGP out to a wider audience and not for the money, if it was about money then Eurosport would have a contract. Which I believe. The point with that is, that in the UK at the moment, people have the choice to watch the BBC's coverage or Eurosports coverage. My main point here being that people who want to watch the BBC's coverage already do. Management type people probably will justify the switch by producing lots of flashy graphs saying "look this is the BBC's 2008 viewing figures for motogp and as you can see the 2009 figures are a lot higher." Of course the viewing figures will be higher, they will have all the Eurosport fans, apart from that though they won't actually gain not even 1 more single fan. So to be honest with you what is the point. MotoGP will not gain one more single fan in the UK from it just being on the BBC. The only real reason I can see that Eurosport lost the coverage is because BBC negotiated in their new contract that they were to be the lone broadcaster in the UK. We all know what the BBC does when it has a monopoly, I wonder how long it is before they screw over the fans and bump MotoGP for Eastender omnibus or something else just as rubbish. I predict that a lot of the coverage will be on the red button feature. News flash BBC some people still don't have digital and don't have to until 2010 or 2011 I think. So how will you provide these people with coverage.
  5. Very true, I'll give you that one I hope your right mate, the picture quality and sound is better on BBC but just give us Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola on the Beeb
  6. No not for free there is that subscription fee that you have to pay. why does everyone think the BBC is free? ITV and channel 4 pay for themselves with adverts, BBC has none so makes you pay for a TV license.
  7. Exactly I expect some of the problem is that alot of these road testers aren't going flat out. So at lower speeds it probably feel great but when you take it to the racing limit. just not quite so good.
  8. Yep I'll be down there, will gladly meet up with you all. Probably be a Saturday/Sunday thing.
  9. Ahh thanks for reminding me jimsoon, I thought about that the other day. Your correct the BBC has won the right to show F1 again next year. There are several days in the season when F1 and MotoGP is on the same day. Guess which one will get bumped from the schedule and turned into a highlights package.
  10. points win prizes at the end of the day, If JT had called it a day after falling off at Silverstone or Vallelunga last year then Haga would be WSB champion now. They wonder why so many people love Rossi, it's nice to have a seven times world champion admit it was his fault. I've known other champions who would have blamed the track or tyres.
  11. I think the problem is that power isn't everything, I know the MCN review of the ZX10 this year was pretty good but I don't think when these BSB, WSB guys are giving it full whack that it handles as good as the Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati Having said that Kawasaki seem to be getting fed up of being second best all the time, they are starting (only starting so give it a few years) to throw some serious money at MotoGP, that will start to filter down. 2010 maybe they will be up there. Unless you can get some dodgy photos of Rossi, Corser or Edwards then your bike will be sorted in 6 months.
  12. I didn't make it, decided to wait for WSB at Donny and Brands as they are closer. Watched them on Eurosport and heard someone in the crowd by the camera say "I thought you said it wasn't going to rain" as one of the races started. Clearly a couple having an arguement
  13. I completely agree with you that he's still learning the tracks, it's just he admitted that he's never been a good supersport rider, don't think he did that great in BSS. He was much better once they stuck him on a superbike. Trouble is with this years results he won't get offered a superbike ride.
  14. well it seemed like a good move at the time for Johnny Rea, but it's starting to look a bit worse all the time. I know he had the option in his contract to move up to WSB if he performed well. But I can't see Ten Kate bringing him up from WSS to WSB next season, More likely to bring Andrew Pitt up. So he'll probably be stuck in WSS for another year, which is a shame. Rea was going well on a superbike a year ago, maybe he could of performed on the world level and then made a quick jump in 2 or 3 seasons to MotoGP. Now it looks like his career is halted a bit which is a shame cause he's a serious talent.
  15. I doubt the BBC will listen to this (why should they, people's voices are useless these days, We say we want something thousands of people vote and they ignore it anyway... as Bill Hicks once said... you are free to do as they tell you) anyways someone (no it wasn't me) started a petition for the Eurosport guys to get jobs at BBC. http://www.petitiononline.com/motogp09/petition.html If you want to then sign, if you don't then that is also fine. 802 people signed in 24 hours
  16. LOL Ok you win. I do quite like the BBC coverage but I also like Eurosport just think it will be a sad day when instead of having a choice I will be forced to watch BBC. My ideal situation, is actually BBC coverage but maybe if the BBC employed Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola, they could keep Suzi and maybe Parish, but I'm sorry Charlie Cox doesn't do it for me. I don't even know if he knows how to ride a bike.
  17. Yeah poor lad, I was think it was like buses, you wait 8 years for a win then you get two in two races, It's a shame it rained cause he was about 3 seconds up the road. I'm sure he'll catch a break one day. I'm really pleased to see Edwards having a good season, but makes you wonder what happened when he was in the factory team. Was he a testing rider? or is he just more relaxed.
  18. oww Hayden had a bit of the voice wobble when he was interviewed after, I think the lad was a bit upset and who can blame him. Some programmer at HRC will be fired tonight while fuel > 0 throttle = full else if fuel <= 0 msg = "error" Those spills have really spooked George Laurence out... poor lad is having a few problems finding his feet again. Still another good result. Plus amazing ride by Rossi considering he had no gear shift spindal after the crash
  19. Your wrong though, they show all the races. All you need is a digital TV or freeview box and if you haven't got one already, you'll need one within the next year or so because analogue is going to be turned off. If I want to watch the 125cc race or 250cc race or qualifying at all, I have to go on to BBCi by pressing the red button, it's not on BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 or any other. I never said they didn't show all the races, just that if you want to watch 125 or 250 you have to go to a backdoor channel. BTW Suzi Perry keeps mentioning that you can watch the races on BBC iplayer. I checked after Donington and there was nothing on there only Super league rugby for the same day.
  20. One thing that pees me off a bit about sports is that the world is dominated by Football. don't get me wrong I like football, enjoy watching and have played. but a MotoGP/125/250 is about 45 mins in length, so why is it that you never watch a football game and then 15 mins in they go "ok we're now off for an ad break". but when something else is 45 mins long they feel the need to break it up? They could go for an ad break on the warm up lap and on the cooling down lap. BBC offer coverage of all but only put the main one on TV. Hence the fact no one still knows Scott Redding, I was out for a drink last night with some friends and mentioned that I walked right past Scott at Donington and everyone there said "Who?" In this age when we have over 600 channels surely someone in the industry should come up with a motorsports channel 18 - 24 hours of motorsports coverage. Even if there is a small subscription fee. a couple of quid a month. I mean all the football team have their own channels. MUTV, Liverpool TV, Arsenal TV, Celtic TV, Rangers TV Sorry I'm ranting again, I'll go get a drink and calm down
  21. For the people who like the BBC, then this is fine. But having a choice is nice, you wouldn't like it if there was just one newspaper, or just one drink, having a choice is good and there will always be people who like one over the other. The BBC service is very good, picture quality is good, sound is good, no adverts, you can get everything if you have digital and use the BBCi thing, but I like Eurosport, it offers an indepth look into the life of the riders, teams, technology which BBC is sometimes lacking. The Eurosport guys are that passionate about it that they know everyone in the paddock. So they are often first with the rumours, Randy Mamola gives good insight into riding a MotoGP bike while asking the riders tough questions. It will be a shame to see it go from Eurosport and I hope that the replacement service is up to it's standards.
  22. I would be very surprised if some channel doesn't pick them up, If not they will probably move over to WSB on Eurosport and Whitham will stay on BSB
  23. I know Sheene was riding until '86 but I never really got to see him, I'm fairly new to riding and although I use to watch the odd race with Schwarz/Rainey/Gardiner when younger. It never really grabbed my attention. First time it did I think was the Bayliss/Edwards WSB battle BBC had great coverage and I started watching them, then flicked across to MotoGP same year and saw this guy called Rossi and the amazing Repsol Honda. I was hooked. So I know it says pick one. So I would have to say Rossi got me into bikes. However after watching many videos/dvds about Sheene's countless accidents and how he always got back up. Sheene/Edwards/Bayliss would be close seconds.
  24. agreed in part, playing with Crash (his mates) helps him relax but there seems to be several occasions on the MotoGP weekends where Yamaha have stuck him on a piano and made him play to an audience of people who don't even know he can play which leads to the whole SPOTY thing when he was really nervous. Again I was a fan of Foggy until he decided he couldn't keep it shut and slagged off todays riders. (McGuinness/Toseland) just not needed he lost my respect.
