  1. positive start for Hayden, I think once he starts getting the bike set up and used to the power delivery (as in there will be some unlike the Honda which he's only recently been able to spin) then he will kick some major butt on the Ducati. I said earlier in the year that it would be a good move and I stand by it, I think Melandri was never going to ride it well, Melandri was a good 250cc ride, Hayden is a Superbike rider. PLUS look at Ducati's history, it's always the Americans, Australians and Brits who seem to master the Ducati's while the Italians for some reason never glue with them, even Fabrizio has been unable to match Bayliss in Superbike.
  2. I think Gibernau should go to WSB, he's still a good rider and could probably give some of the WSB regulars a bit of a shock.
  3. After a tragic accident in the Red Bull Rookies U.S race, Bermudan competitor Toriano Wilson has sadly passed away in hospital due to his injuries. He was only 14 years old. Another sad day for racing.
  4. HRC and remaining Yamaha riders agreed to stay with Michelin on the fact that they promised that there would be improvement and it wouldn't happen again. They made a good start to the campaign but I'm sad to say that the last three races have been a nightmare for them. Things don't look good either, wasn't Misano and Motegi Bridgestone tracks last year? I hope they are still there in 09 but I feel they are going to get heavy criticism from the riders.
  5. ok my MCN fantasy team must be cursed. I bought Toseland for the Donington round and he fell off, so I sold Toseland and bought the most consistant rider of the campaign so far Pedrosa who fell off and had two no scores in Germany and US, So then I sold Pedrosa and splashed the cash on Stoner.... who fell off. To be honest until Pedrosa gets fit again this championship is just between two riders, they were miles ahead. On a side note, should MotoGP follow BSB and WSB in a single tyre rule? its a shame to see riders like Lorenzo, Toseland, Edwards, Pedrosa struggling at the back because their tyres are useless.
  6. Stoner Rossi Gresini Bike - Either De Angelis or Nakano
  7. Nice to see a tribute to Craig Jones on Scott Reddings bike, number 18 to the lower right of his usual number 45. Interesting to see the different styles of riding in MotoGP in the wet too. Vermuelen was very smooth and controlled were as De Angelis looked very aggressive but they were both good in the wet today.
  8. How frustrated must all the Honda riders be, Nakano has really been on it since getting the 2008 spec bike. I bet Dovi, De Puniet and a few others would love to get their hands on one. BTW Nakano testing the bike for next year suggests to me that he has a contract extension for '09 I bet Dovi would have liked to have had that for the rest of the year. Would bring him up to speed for his "possible" Factory ride in '09
  9. Poor lad, you sometimes think if he didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck at all. I know he won the title which was a piece of good luck, but he also got taken off by his team mate, has run out of fuel metres before the line, looks like he's lost his HRC contract for 2009. Now he's injured his ankle in an appearance and misses Brno.
  10. Anyone that can ride those bikes on the limit at those speeds has my respect. The whole love/hate thing, is just the press twisting things, they have done it to Biaggi, Gibernau, Pedrosa, Lorenzo and even Rossi in the past. At the moment they are picking on Stoner. The press machine needs someone to be the bad guy and at the moment Casey is taking the fall. I'm sure he's a good guy really. I am a Rossi fan but at the same time I won't turn on another rider just cause Rossi ain't winning. I think if I'm being honest there are a few who hate anyone Un-Rossi. Errr People what are you going to do when he retires? Huge respect for Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovi, Rossi, Stoner and Hayden cause he's a tryer and a nice guy.
  11. I never had the fortune to meet Craig Jones personally but after watching him on TV and cheering him on over the years I feel like I knew him in some way and I feel extremely empty over this, I can't imagine what his family is going through. He'll be missed. RIP Jonesy
  12. A top quality boot constructed with technological advancements made by the MotoGP/WSB stars. It's class. Go try one on to make sure you like it though and it fits the way you want it.
  13. What a terrible crash and at one of the worst points on the circuit. I hope he's ok and makes a speedy recovery. But it did look a nasty one. Very little information about Jonesy condition at the moment. Only a brief statement from FGSport and MSVR. "During the FIM Supersport World Championship race at Brands Hatch today, rider Craig Jones (Team Parkalgar Honda) crashed at Clark Curve and appeared to be struck by a following rider, sustaining a serious head injury. The race was immediately stopped. "Craig was initially treated at the scene by the MSVR Medical Team, and was then transferred to the Circuit Medical Centre for further assessment and treatment before being flown by the Kent Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital, which is the leading trauma centre in region." The BBC website reckons Honda rider Craig Jones had to be transferred to hospial by air ambulance after suffering serious head injuries in a crash at Clark Curve and has been placed in a coma to stabilise his condition. Get Well Soon Jonesy
  14. With the news that there may be a MotoGP race in Hungary in 2009 (btw the circuit layout looks pretty damn amazing) http://www.motogp.com/en/photos/2008/Balaton+ring+project+unveiled+for+projected+Hungarian+Grand+Prix Do you think it's time we had a brand spanking new circuit in the UK? Every square inch seems to be used at present for new houses or housing developments. Don't you think a new circuit would be a good idea?
  15. The lad flys well, he adopted the same type of position as in China. Was very sad to see this happen He's a nice lad and he's had enough injurys for one year or two for that matter. Lets hope thats the last time we see Jorge fly this year.
  16. I know a lot of you as you hardcore Eurosport fans like me won't have seen this but over the break I switched over to BBC and in park ferme you caught a bit of a discussion with Stoner and Rossi. Rossi extends hand, Stoner shakes head and they go their seperate ways. Fantastic race though, two great riders going at it
  17. You've got to be in it to win it. Hayden was consistantly on the podium. I think even Hayden admits he had some luck, but don't they all. Hayden is a quick rider and I'll beat on the Ducati he'll get some more podiums/wins and probably if Ducati keep making good bikes, another shot at the championship. Hayden will be the only American champ out of the current batch I think, Hopper maybe could have been but Kawasaki looks like they are going backwards with bike development sadly Hopper needs to jump on a Honda or Yamaha. Who knows what Spies can do?
  18. nothing confirmed, there were/are rumours, but neither Hayden/Honda/Ducati will confirm anything yet. If you listen to Eurosport they seem to think Dovi on the Honda next year is almost a done deal leaving Hayden looking for a new ride and the rumours point to Ducati. I hope for Nicky's sake it happens cause like you DutchMick, I think the Ducati will suit Nicky's style, and he's a nice lad, deserves some luck after the 2007 season
  19. yeah it's not for a particular rider, it's for a number of riders who Rossi believes could become more of a threat if they follow and get to know his braking markers, lines, etc... I believe it changes from track to track which is why Rossi mentioned that he had his word about a rider following him who they didn't think Rossi would deem a threat. I know you have to be on edge these days and any advantage you can gain over your rivals is a handy one, however I reckon alot of those guys brake within half a metre of each other anyway, so I think the top guys should worry less about who's behind them and more about riding. Hopefully Hayden can give Stoner more of a run for his money as a team mate next year. I reckon Hayden on a powerful bike will be back up the front.
  20. Sorry my fault I think I cursed the poor lad. My fantasy team is cursed, ever rider I pick has a bad weekend. I thought I'd splash the cash and bought Rossi and Mr Dependable Pedrosa with his worst position so far being 4th. looking good for a win then he's binned it. I hope he's ok for Laguna.
  21. Yep, won't get that on the BBC next year. Even Rossi said he was sorry to see them go. That was TV gold though, Rossi commentating and it was nice to hear he was just as excited about it as we all are watching at home.
  22. but on a serious note (I know I'm not normally serious) for our members who work abroad, they won't be able to watch the 125cc or 250cc race anymore? Thanks BBC.
  23. Where did Dani get that from. 7.5 seconds in about 4 laps? does he just spend his spare time practising in the rain? nasty fall. I hope he's ok for next weekend. Can anyone see Stoner racking up win number four on the bounce at Laguna next weekend. He did run away with it there last year.
  24. It's ok DutchMick your probably doing people who have the BBC a public service since they don't deem it important enough to broadcast the 125 class on one of their four digital channels On a more serious note. What will you do next year? I doubt you can get the BBC in Holland and now there is no Eurosport? Will you have to listen to it with Dutch commentary?
  25. while I do agree in part with you Voodoo, I also part disagree. what I mean to say is that although you are correct, we could pay for MotoGP.com coverage. If the Beeb hadn't been a pain about it and demanded exclusive rights to the coverage effectively eliminating any choice we had then there would be no need for us to purchase further subscription. Thanks to the Beeb there is no choice any more, it's their way or no way at all. As mentioned before the BBC already had a contract with MotoGP. All they have done with the new one is demand exclusive rights. Some people love the BBC's coverage and some aren't so fond of it. I'm sure this debate will rage on over the remainder of the season until the Eurosport mics get turned off at Valencia and we all have to admit defeat for a couple of seasons until they lose the rights in 2010/2011
