  1. Have you ever looked into going to Svalbard during the autumn time/early spring? Much easier to achieve and I suspect just as satisfying. Highest concentration of polar bears on the planet too.
  2. It's Bieber's fault. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmlERPJiQLo

    Bank theft

hehe... those are the same guys that speculate on food. If they're okay with starving thousands of people to death then i doubt they give a hoot about someone's job.
  4. I think alot less people would "support the troops" (note the inverted commas for those that need them pointing out) if they didn't get the sanitised news from the beeb etc. I've seen tonnes of pictures of men/women/babies with hollow heads, split scalp flapping, and chunks of brain mush scattered behind them. Dismembered bodies, guts spilling out, etc. The same goes for the soldiers we spend our taxes on to send there. For every death you hear on the news 10 soldiers lose a limb. What the news doesn't say/show is as bad as what they twist. Good news is that more and more people are learning not to rely on the mainstream western news for anything they might consider 'reality'. The recent Murdoch situation shows how politicians will bend to the media's will under such power that the media holds. Don't be a sheep. Baaaaa.

    Bank theft

It doesn't even make sense that there should be ANY bank charges for ANYONE for putting too much through the account. THey should be paying the account holder for lending them their money .
  6. At least you chose the grass verge instead of a lorry grill!
  7. http://www.675.cc/675/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6570&start=40 "Jason you are a sick man! Think I'll look into the legal advice, I've got three points but they caught me doing 123 on a 70 motorway".... ...."Ok I am a v v lucky man, I can still ride my bike! I got 6 points which brings me to 9 and a hefty fine of 600quid, but in the circumstances I am very happy!"
  8. Why is knowing that people do 150mph bullshit?
  9. Lol. 130/140mph isn't a big deal, but overtaking people at that speed AND then not noticing them following behind you is dumb I've seen a sneaky 04 plate unmarked skoda estate attend an incident with loads of units in town recently so pretty much anyone could be on your case.
  10. On another forum last week a guy got caught at 126mph, but his average was only 104 which showed that he was aware of traffic and had slowed down then overtaking. He got 6 points and £900 fine if i remember right.
  11. With regards to moving over to the side of the road for left/right hand turns.... Only do it if the road is wide enough for you to do that and for the other traffic to easily squeeze past. Otherwise you're inviting people to molest you. If the road is a bit narrow i'd suggest making a token move to the side so that the examiner can see it, but not enough to invite impatient cars to try to get through a gap too small. That way you can show a better awareness of the situation but not worry too much whether your assessment of the space available is the same as the examiners (second guessing the examiner seems to be the biggest cause of mistakes). Hope that makes sense.
  12. If you're referring to Colin's reference... I get the feeling he was meaning.... "> Hehe...
  13. I like Orwell. I had to gently insist the other day that the sales guy went and got the machanic to look at the photo of my broken exhaust, rather than bringing it in for them to look at before they then placed an order for new parts, but when he realised that I'm not that local he was fine about it.
  14. Don't do any advanced stuff. The examiner is expecting a beginner and will want to see you ride like one. Stay in the middle.
  15. If young people aren't grown up enough to hold a full licence for 2 years then they also shouldn't be allowed to join the armed forces and see combat. And then they shouldn't be required to pay taxes (seems odd 16 year olds are old enough to pay taxes but not old enough to drink ).
  16. Only trouble with the stompgrip kind of solution is wear on your leathers. I've got techspec snakeskins on my 675 and they are anihilating my leathers! Both my RST trousers and my Spidi 1 piece. Suede knee patches are on the backlog of stuff to get sorted.
  17. My leather's lining does completely come out after all (obviously ) In the wash now along with my stinky back protector
  18. You need to invest on some shades if you get dazzled during the daytime! Bikes come with a 'passing' trigger specifically for that purpose.
  19. They aren't a good idea because then you can't indicate effectively. If you ever get towed by an AA recovery vehicle they will tell you NOT to use hazzards and to indicate as and when the towing vehicle does.
  20. The front brake is your stopping brake. Apart from slow speeds the rear brake is virtually useless for serious braking, but using it a little does tend to stabilise the bike a bit, imo. If you need to brake hard and mostly use your rear you will end up coming off eventually because there is not enough weight on the rear wheel (plus the rear brake is usually teeny). The instructors teach to use the rear mostly because newbies will grab a handful of front and have an accident. It takes a bit of practise to avoid grabbing a handful when you get taken by surprise. Teaching to just use the rear seems stupid. My instructor kept telling me to keep my hands away from that front brake, BUT, they also said to use 70/30 in the dry, 50/50 in the wet, etc in "classrooms".
