  1. Is this the place down the most shitty road surface on the planet? I think i went there today. Spent a while touching a nice Alpinestar 1 piece for £850 going "oooh". Then I regained my senses and went home.
  2. You coming RoadRunner?
  3. Isn't rutland a LONG ride from Manchester? or are you not staying that far?
  4. I'm in - unless something comes up.
  5. One minute to go!

    brakes

Following on from my earlier post (thanks for the help so far): Should it be very hard for me to push the piston back in on my rear brake? I had the caliper off on Saturday and took the pads out and scraped out a load of crap with a screwdriver/toothbrugh. Then a quick wipe out with a damp cloth. The pistons comes out nicely with a few pumps of the brake (didnt take it all the way out yet - maybe next weekend) and pushing it back in takes both thumbs giving it a good bit of force. The brake seems to feel better now. It seems to give more feedback and work better, but i think its still binding. It's definitely harder than normal to push the bike and the disc was mega hot again after a ride. I got some brake cleaner and can give it a proper clean next time. I'm just not sure how hard it should be to push the piston back in. Thanks.
  10. I did get a haynes manual a while back when the front brake was squealing, but then my service was due and they did it for me. Guess i better start learning how all this stuff works! Tbh, it looked easy enough, BUT....... Its not really, took me less than an hour to clean up and re grease both my front brakes on my ninja. I've done it before but only on the SV. Its easy peasy really. Yah, but I like doing all this stuff in the sunshine When it's cold like this I end up slicing my hands to ribbons without even realising. What I really need is a lottery win so i can get a house with the garage attached to the house. That'd be awesome
  11. Aww...man. That sounds like alot of effort!
  12. I think my rear brake is stuck on. I had to rock the bike back and forth to free it up last week and since then it's seemed like hard work walking the bike back out of the garage. When I got to work this morning i touched the rear disc and it was pretty hot so i think it's stuck on. It might also explain the cyclical squeak i hear at low speeds. It's my ER6. What's the solution? Mechanical or chemical or both? Cheers dudes.
  13. Watch some youtube vids of people riding in the rain. Then trust that your tyres will perform just as well as theirs (if they're suitable). I've been riding my new triumph like a pansy when it's raining because the look of those supercorsas scare me. Trouble is now it's become habbit and i'm scared of riding my kawasaki, which was always fine in the rain, when it's wet at speed now. When we get some warmer weather I need to take the kawasaki out for a blast in the wet and shake off the nerves.
  14. It seems to me that you get what you pay for (extra cost = better ventilation/removable linings/chin-strap fasteners/pinlock/breath guards/general quality feel etc etc) BUT those extras are very expensive. You'll probably notice the difference between a £100 and a £400 helmet, but it's less certain whether you'll think that the difference is worth £300. Like Techno said you can just go for an older model. I got a Shoei xr1000 for about £250 (first one i tried on and it fitted PERFECTLY). When they were the current model they were over £400 or something stupid. THis year at NEC show they were down to about £190 i think. But i've seen loads of cheaper ones which look perfectly fine assuming they fit properly, and they all have to meet the safety standards. If I was a bit tight for cash and buying gear then i'd go for a cheaper, but good fitting, helmet and then spend the difference on proper boots, etc (places people skimp on or delay), where the cash would go towards proper protection rather than reducing wind noise and the like.

If i'd have taken a picture the flash would have given me away and she'd have spotted the peep holes in my newspaper.

I'd like to extend my warmest appreciation to the blonde girl at the PureTriumph stand who spent the entire day in her underpants. Much appreciated.
  17. Lets go for a rideout. I'll tow. Bring your own sledge.
  18. That's why you're called Biffo! Just kidding. Better luck next time. I failed my mod2 over a matter of personal judgement too.
  19. This sounds good to me as long as i'm insured one way or another. Need to figure out how to cram a camera inside my helmet by then.
  20. Oh, I see. The front page says 189 but the voucher says 150.
  21. Is £150 on a member's discount or something? The website says £189 unless i'm looking in the wrong place.
  22. Shame i missed your new bike, Aaron. It looked too wet for me in the morning.
  23. If it's dry. It takes me an hour to get to the marina so sometimes, even though by 10:00 it's looking nice, I give it a miss because here at 08:00 it's raining and I go back to bed. If it's dry i'll try and give it a quick rinse and then head off. I really need to clean&relube the chain but there's no daylight now and I wont have time on Saturday. My TechSpec snakeskin grip pads haven't arrived yet either
