  1. I assume Nman won't have internet until monday, but I think he got a pictire of us posing. No action phots. I don't know if we learnt much in only 1 session, other than what it's like and how much fun it is to ride your bike like it was built for without having to worry about tractors, or cowpats round the bend! I was a little nervous, and I think neil was quite nervous. But at the end both of us were well pleased so it was definitely worth while. Someone crashed and got the session red-flagged, but it was right at the end so we didn't really miss much
  2. I'll decline to cite references and offer 'proof' which I care not whether you believe or not. It's not my job to educate. If you care you'll do your own research and come to your own conclusions. More likely apathy will mean you'll beleive what you're told on the BBC. If you care what your taxes are really being used for you'll spend hours, days, weeks and months to find out - not listening to some random bloke on a forum. The point, which is more important than other sidetracking topics (for us), is that all the talk about treating an animal like an animal, not taking the moral hightground becqause it makes us weak , setting aside the rule of law and setting aside due process, is precisely what makes us volunteers to our own indentured servitude, if not slavery. Every pound (and there are lots) spent on killing people in other countries is a stealth tax on the British taxpayer. War is funded in deficit; so thats our un-accounted for pensions paying for it. And all of that money spent goes to the wealthy elite that steer foreign policy. The taxpayer stumps up for foreign aid to Libya. We sell the tear gas, riot shields and battons that kept Gaddafi in power. The tax payer spends billions destroying the country, and then the taxpayer will spend more to rebuild it. They call it 'stimulating' the economy. And as this all occurs people care less and less about the rule of law and human rights, not understanding that they are supporting the errosion of their own rights, liberties, and safety of themselves and their children. And it will continue because all this is doing is destabalising the region. This isn't abut the people wanting democracy and kicking out a tyrant. This is tribal. This i sbad people fighting for power - nato sponsored civil war. It's to distract you from the fact that the economy is dead. The financial system as we know it is dead. You get bread in the form of welfare, and circuses in the form of neverending war. It's comforting to know that there are people out there with such towering intellects that they can use typos to attack aomeone elses opinion. It's obviously easier than saying something useful. I'll have to remember than one in future
  3. If you actually look at it from another view instead of the moral highground we could be seen to actually be saving lives by surgically removing these cancers from society, therefore not been lumped in with these so called animals ( animals are better) who do nothing but eradicate innocent lives It's precisely the moral highground, though, that offers us the opportunity to be something other than animals. And it's plainly obvious to anyone who is interested in facts, rather than official spin, that NATO has killed, and facilitated the killing, of many multiples more Lybians since intervening than Gaddafi has done and would have done. But my opinions, and your opinions, on the war and it's justifications are besides the point. If you accuse someone of being a brutal savage, and then treat them savagely and brutally, without any due process, then you surely cannot deny that you are yourself a brutal savage. A victim, bitter and vengful, can be forgiven. Thousands of people, completely removed thousands of miles away watching the TV, are just hypocrites.
  4. Isn't it?. No If someone has no alternative but to rely on the NHS to patch them up, because the state steals the fruits of their labour from them at gunpoint (albeit thinly veiled) which they could otherwise be free to spend on medical insurance of their own free choice, then cost implications to the NHS can hardly be of any legitimate concern to them. One surely can't use use violence, or the threat of violence, to force their preferences upon someone else against their will and then righteously complain when the consequences of using said violence incurs a cost Now thats not to say that I don't think there shouldn't be any rules for the road, although setting those rules is not the job of the state. But that's besides the point. The point is that institutions like the NHS are fundamentally immoral and as such any arguments based upon them should be, for anyone who wouldn't like to think of themselves as a bully, self contradicting.
  5. FYI, The website FAQ says there is a small charge for spectators at Bedford Autodrome.
  6. It's bread & circuses, but without the bread. I have to agree with TC. If you want to be like animals then fine, but then don't pretend to be anything better.
  7. Many people would never dream of using violence, or the threat of violence, to coerce you into doing, or not doing, what they want. I suspect that all they would ask in return is that you extend them the same courtesy.
  8. According to google, A14 = 55 mins, via backroads = 1 hr 15 mins, so in reality i'm quicker than that. Also... did you get the paperwork I emailed you? Nothing important really, but don't forget you need your license. Presumably both parts.
  9. I wouldn't be too nervous. I'd imagine it's the safest place to ride! Although being uninsured is a bit worrying I'm trying to calculate how i'm going to get there at the moment. It'd be nice to avoid the A14 to keep my new tyres round, but that makes it an earlyish start.
  10. Booked. You should get emails (i'm guessing).
  11. Ok neil, looks like Darren is stumped by not having 'proper' leathers. So i'll just book up the two of us this morning if that's still the plan?
  12. No worries. You mean your wife's email address? unless she's coming out to burn some rubber too!
  13. RoadRunner is going to get me the same details I asked you (neil) and when I have them i'll book the three of us in. RoadRunner - are you below the 101DB limit?
  14. I think so. I'l do it after lunch : ) I think Martin675 who might be about on Sunday to Rutland might possibly be signing up to the track session too I'l text Darren to see if he want's me to sign him up too.
  15. It needs to know your email address / names / registrations / confidence in riding from 1-10 / whether you've done a trackday before. If anyone who want's me to book it all together sends me the details i'll do it this afternoon. Or, if you do it yourself (http://www.clubmsv.com/bike-home/event- ... ype=taster) then i'll just book my own. Let me know. There are Ts and Cs, 101Db limit, etc.
  16. I have permission. The only concern I have is how long should I/we wait until booking in order to scope out the weather forecast? I don't know whether these things sell-out or not.
  17. I just heard about it on a different forum, so I need to make sure i'm available, but if the forecast is good then It sounds liek a good idea to me. It's not far from you anyway.
  18. There's a taster session (£20 for 20 minutes) at Bedford Autodrome on 22nd. Anyone other virgins interested?
  19. I just don't like you all ; ) Missed a couple of rideouts due to tyres too though. Btw, it's probably a bit far for most of you, but Seastar superbikes near norwich do both wheels, ride in / ride out, for £40 which is much better than most. I'm getting a pair of Supercorsa BSBs for £194 which is reasonable too. The quote for a pair of BT016s was £270! which is about £70 more than i'd expect, but they are Pireli/Metzeler guys as far as I can tell.
  20. Should have new tyres fitted on Fri 14th. If so then I don't see why not.
  21. The key is to go 88mph. That way you travel back in time at which point you still have a full tank.
