  1. Best thing i find is if you dont have a spray, is to close your visor completly and then notch one side up, so it is slightly sqew-wiff that coupled with a neck scalf (not a balaclava) (its about 30cm long, is thick and soft at one end and thinner soft fabric at the other, (tubelar in shape)) keep all most all my fog and freezing breath to a minimum, and reduce wind noise greatly). The other thing I use just to be on the safe side is a spray named, Bob Health Visors Antifog. http://www.bigbikebook.com/15279/BOB-HE ... SPRAY.html -- one squirt (golf ball sized) of that onto a piece of kitchen paper and rub on the inside and out, then i find i can drive in tempratures below -9 (not including wind effect, so realisticaly more like -13) with the visor fully closed, and not steam up one little bit, and stay completly warm and cosy inside. and to make it even better, i'm still on my 1st can of the stuff, cost me £4 from a dealers, and i've applied it every 3 days since begging of july. Hope this helps.
  2. Fan-fudging-tastic!! Decided to use the bike to get to my college today so the snow was falling thick and fast again, started 1st tiem, set off, had to stop 2'ce on the way there to de clog it again, then when i had to come home, i put all my gear on, jumped on, wouldn't start. stood there about 8 minuets before it actually fired, got on, set off, the major road on my way home is a 2 to 3 mile long dual carriageway, the bike wouldn't pull more than 20mph at first. then a little way along this waas reducing slowly and by about 1/4 the way along the busy road then bike was pulling at 4mph! By this point I had lost patience , switched the damn thing off, then hauled it up the kerb onto the narrow slice of grass verge at the side. From there I rang parents, father was in town so couldn't get to me any time soon, and no reply from mother. So much for mobile phones making people accessible in emergencys! So I sat there for a good 15 minuets, then decided that no help was going to arrive, and if I had phoned the RAC breakdown service, they would still have taken a good hour plus to get me and this poor excuse of a 'bike' home. So ended up pushing it the remaining 3 miles. I've rather had enough of this now, I had phoned the bike company TDS bikes! (if anyone wishes to know) this morning before setting out to college, and had arranged a pick up for them to 'look over the bike.' They'll be doing more than that, otherwise i'll ruddy be phoning trading standards complaining that it isn't road worthy. Wish I had stuck with just my beloved, dead reliable Gilera. -- Sorry for loud mouth talk, but I am (as the brighter sparks among you will have noticed) Fuming!!!
  3. Thanks Dan. Update - I rang up the dealers this afternoon, and talked to the man in charge, aparently the bike was running perfectly when they took it for a test drive. So they sound as though they are blaming myself or some magical pixie for suddenly killing the power Had the plug out to see how badly it was choked up. Was completly smothered in oil... but then agai nthats probably normal for a bike of this age. Had the bike out again earlier, but had the exact same problem as yesterday, when i came to requiring power to drive up my lane I had to stop 4 times, and on the 2nd stop I had to sit there for over a minuet before it would clear enough to move. Eventually got bored of waiting for it so jumped off and pushed it back.
  4. yes it does have a manual choke, however it needs none to start up. :/ ill have a go at some of the suggestions above, but i cant do much as my garage dosnt have a heater, its -4 outside and we have a foot of snow if nothing sorts it out, the dealers will defiatly have a shouting at, as they hadnt alligned the back wheel, left the chain to have 2+ inches of slack, not put much 2 stroke oil in, hardly any fuel, not put the grip covers on correctly & not tightened the handlears. :/
  5. I'll try that next time i plan to use it (sunday, as i need more practise with it). Oh, and it dosn't just do this at the begging, after my run (went to caravan storage and back to drop off some stuff, (a good 15 mile run)) the bike then had problems trying to get up my back lane (the track between the road and our garage, which just so happens to be uphill) it would go up he first bit, then it would splutter and nearly come to a stop, at which point i had to put left foot down, hold rear brake, pull in the clutch and give the bike revs untill it de-clogged it's self in the higer rpm's again, then i'd accelerate off, and then get stuck and have to repeat this about 20 meters further on. Thankyou for the replys, and i'll try a few of those Rod, but it sounds like i'll be on the phone to the dealers come daylight.
  6. Hello again everyone *waves* I'm here yet again to seek your wisdom and guidence. *bows down* I recently took collection of a new bike, (not run in yet, only about 6 miles on the clock) (Generic Trigger X 50), however am having problemos. If I let the bike idle for more than about 10 seconds the bike dosn't then want to rev high (in the top half of the rev range, (where all the power is on a 50 )) Is this down to the bike being new, and there for having thicker oil in the engine, that could be clogging up the spark plug, or am i missing the ball pit completly, and the bike should infact not do this at all? Many thanks, bullet. P.s. a special thankyou to a contact that has already helped
  7. nope, ive never had any geering or odd looks. people dont seem to mind, and to be honest why should they when everyone is wearing something differnt. people go to colleges dressed in all sorts from your common jeans, hoodie/jacket to gothic dresses, or suits (and yes im talking about the pupils here) im a rather shy person so would have noticed if people were commenting about my looks. On some of my college days I also walk around wearing either my leather or textile jacket (unzipped at the front though) and still raise no greater intrest than if i just wore the usual jeans and branded t-shirt. if your that worried about looks then why dont you see if the receptionist will keep them behind her desk for the day? and you walk around in trainers etc for the time your there. hope this helps.
  8. I'd have thought the higher leg boots offer more protection, as are adding another layer of leather/plastic (whatever the chosen boot is made of) on top of your trousers. For that reason and the fact that they then get splattred with mud and not my trousers (boots are easier to clean than leggings) I opted for high leg boots. Chosen boots: Diora Diablo -- http://www.justbikersplymouth.com/USERI ... 0BOOTS.JPG Very comfy (imo) and rebust boots. They are leather, and are very waterproof. (Been standing in water up to the lip of the boot before now, to rescue my bike from a fludded carpark, when I got the bike out, I had a check and nothing had gotten through Socks were dry as a bone ) I wear them all day at college so have them on between 3 and 8 hours a day (weekdays), no probems caused at al Would definatly recomend the higher legged boots to anyone.
  9. Know i'm a bit late in saying this, but the Xena X2 appears to be more of a deterant as it is greater in size and more visible. Also the Luma Solido, looks like it would easily break off with a small blow to the side/main barrel with a hammer. Still great gifts +1 NC24. If it's cheap it's cheerfull Disk locks dont really come into their own, unless you have two, (one front and one back) otherwise the 'locked wheel' can bew lifted and the bike can be manuovered. Hope this helps, and I'll appoligise about lateness again
  10. hmmmm... suppose it could be. Sounds rather strange, because it cant really be anthing BUT the engine :/ you havnt put something in the fuel have you? or let it run low on fuel then filled up, meaning it went onto reserve / drank all the sludge up from the tank. Really perplexing.
  11. This may sound daft as can be, but have you checked the tyre pressures? They can dramaticaly reduce speed, and if one had a puncture / was low, it could change your mph easily. Other thing is have you checked inside the belt housing? ... maybe the belt isnt managing to change up/down correctly/smoothly, or even jammed, as this would be resulting in it being to highly geared for hills, and however too lowly geared for fast action (40mph+). Just to let you know, I have a belt drive on on of my bikes too, so i'm not 'just guessing'.
  12. Thankyou frankie, I'll get on with this tommorow. Nice tip.
  13. Thanks for the rapid replys The frame seems perfectly inline (will double check tommorow) When these pictures were took the bike was on its center stand, on a level garage floor. I'm hoping that it is just the plastics, as I wouldnt be too bothered by that. The bike does have some signs that it was at one point dropped or lowered onto its left side. (scratched and slightly indented engine case on left hand side.) Many thanks, yet again.
  14. Was working on the rear end of the bike, and noticed something rathers worrying. The rear end seems to be out of place / bent. I've photographed the back end. The frame work (metal work) seems to be in perfect (or very close) aligment to the center of the wheel. Not certian what to do.... please help. Back end. Right hand side. Left hand side.
  15. Urgh.. I tightened it up a bit (added a quarter turn) stook her out and she had gained about 6 mph. (not much but at least its going up) I added a bit more (being cautious not to go too tight) but I havnt taken her out again yet, as once I had made this adjustment, the heavens opened...typical. Anyway, if this dosn't improve it upto and above what it was origianyl then i'll do exactly what fozzie says, and if that fails the dealers going to have a argumentative customer to deal with. The cap is definatly on correcty. Thankyou for all your replies, Bullet.
  16. hehehe @ VFR800. I mentioned the time, as it was bloody cold yesterday afternoon here, so if any damage had of been caused it would hopefully have been minimal. Dex, my spark plugs are the same as yours, (washer'ed) but like i've said the bike has lost a LOT of power, and i'm pretty sure that going from a stock plug, to a iridium, isn't ment to make it lose any power, and nothing like this, so i'm guessing/hoping it's the tightness. I'll post back soon with outcome of tinkering time. Many thanks.
  17. *phew* Thanks for the help. I'll say wether it's running properly after tinkering time tommorow. Thankyou again.
  18. Thanks Fozzie. Sorry for the essay of a question. :/ I thought it was in tight... my bad. I'll re-do it tommorow. The gaps, perfect (tested it). Won't have done any damage will it? (driven 6 miles with it like this, @ 7pm tongiht.) Thankyou.
  19. Alright, after reading the topic about iridium spark plugs, I decided to give it a go, after all, what harm can it do? Bought the plug for £9, @ my dealers, got home, removed the original one, and replaced with the new iridium one. Thought to myself *Job's a good'n* and took it onto the drive for a test.... Normaly my bike (Gilera DNA GP Experience 50cc) would pull strongly @ 50mph... So I started her up, (everything perfect so far) and accelerated. She got to 20mph, then saunted upto 30, pulling 36mph max. My question is what's gone wrong? Is it that I have not tightened the spark plug up enough, and it's loosing pressure when firing? (screwed in with fingers until it bit hard, then put in 1/4 turn with the tool, tightening it up.) Please help.
  20. Gilera DNA 50cc, had her nearly a year. Best way to start out @ 16.
  21. Liking the attitude! We are looking, it just helps if we have some people that know what their doing on side.
  22. Thanks a lot, i showed my friend the website you suggested, and he is intrested in the bag (shame its out of stock (red striped version)), and also intrested in the side stand. We had searched for hours and not come across any suitable 'accesories.' He wishes for me to tell you that he is very gratefull. Many thanks. Top Job. P.S can anyone find this bag instock anywhere:gileraspares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?ModelID=1023&pageID=A1 - with the red trim. Thanks again.
  23. Hello everybody. Im here asking (for a friend) if the Gilera DNA 50cc bike, has either a 'spoiler,' 'rear hand grips,' or a 'top box mount / rack' purchasable for this model. The reason im asking is because he would like a little more space to carry his possesions around in. (We already know that there are some small handles underneath the seat.) Failing that he would like a rear handle. Many Thanks.
