  1. I'm really starting to like this new Cobbz. Ill agree with the comment about shops not supplying boots in anything reasonable. All the boots in three shops we tried (inc j&s) were too small for him. :/ Not enough size choice now'a'days.
  2. Make sure there in no water in the electronics, as it may be shorting it out. I had the problem for a week or so, got out a heat gun, blasted all my electronics and now it work's fine.
  3. Where's kersh when you need him?... On a seperate note this rally is going to be pretty darn good. Here's hoping for some sun and clear skys.
  4. Whoo, thankyou Cobbz. Come to the dark side, you know you want to. - On a side note, i'd be happy to hear where this thread goes as my father needs some real biking boots. He's currently using some of these workers boots, but they offer no ankle or leg support/saftey. Thankyou.
  5. Thankyou for the advice. I'll see about spraying it again in the comming week. I'll have to use the trials bike for a while, but even on that's exhaust, the paint is comming off the base where it joins the cylinder head. Stainless is the way forward, but there all aftermarkets and sound terrible I'll try the layer bake method, but I'll have to leave it attached to the bike while spraying, as trying to bolt the thing back on takes about 40 mins, due to inaccessable head bolts. But even if I do this, i've got the problem that there is a metal bracket (welded onto the the exhust) to support it when in positin. This wont get all that hot, so even that will still have the same problem. Thanks again, i'll post back once i've had another shot at it. And you may even get a pic to show what i'm on about.
  6. darn So I should rub the area down a little (so it has something to grab) spray it with some more paint, then leave her to tick over for a while? I had left the exhaust drying in the garage for about 5/6 days, then bolted it back on yesterday, and then ridden her today, for about 3 hours straight... but that's obviously not worked... unless the mud got on there at the begining and got baked on... How long should I leave her running? Bearing in mind she's a 50cc single cylinder, water cooled, 2 stroke. Many thanks.
  7. I could, (and probably will) but it'll happen again, and again.
  8. Tis just a quicky. About a week ago I stripped my Gilera's exhaust, and repainted it with PJ1 Exhaust paint. I ended up using about 1 1/2 cans of the stuff, and put on a good few layers (5/6 or more on some areas). I took the bike out for a ride today (first time since fitting the newly finished exhaust). Once I returned home I checked the can, and it had a few specks of mud on it (have to ride along a mud track to get to garage) I decided to let it cool, as i didnt want to burn myself. Came back to it, sprayed on my muckoff, then tried to wipe it off, and the damn thing has (what appears to be) eaten into my paintwork! I can't get the marks off at all. Really peeved off as I've spent time and cash on getting the finish just right on the can and it's ruined. So what can I do now?

    Exhaust Repairable?

Welding it shouldn't be too difficult. After I had my restrictors put back in on my 50 (previous owner had them out). The dealer welded it, and then painted over it. It dosn't look that good at all, and putty would have left a far neater look, if i'm honest. But saying that i've had no problem with the weld. So as long as you get it done well, and the area the hole is isn't too visible, then you should be fine.
  10. Textiles for the heavy rain and snow, but when it's freezing, cold, slight rain or even a small amount of sun on the horizon, it'll be leathers.
  11. Lol I know. Going to feel like a bit of a charley but hey ho. Don't think so, I rode around all summer last year on my 50 with full leathers, didn't get too sweaty, or cramped, and got nods from almost every biker, I don't think I looked too shabby actually... looked better than I normaly do. I can't wait to get them both back out again, textiles arn't my favourite.
  12. Here you go. Excellent site, and all their tyres have reviews, so if you see one you like copy the name/brand into gaagle, and extra reviews will be at the top of the list. http://www.blackcircles.com/order/tyres/search Good Luck with your search. Bullet5. (eidited as forgot to include link )
  13. I believe I do, I'll go look for it in a second, I just need to put the bike in the garage 1st. What do you want to know from it?
  14. Right, I've jsut had a peep in my Haynes for the bandit, and the position / number 1 is the softest and as the numbers increase upto 7 the hardness increases. 3 or 4 are the standard setting. To incease the pre-load, turn the spring seat clockwise. To decrease the pre-load, turn the spring seat anti-clockwise. Rebound damping adjustment is made by turning the adjuster on the bottom of the shock absorber. ON all 600, 650, and gsf1200T/ST to k5/SK5 models there are four positions. Position 1 is the softest setting and 4 the hardest. An audiable clikc is heard when the adjuster is clickeed into place. Do not set the adjuster between two positions. Position 1 and 2 are standard settings, to increase damping turn the adjuster clockwise. And Vice Versa. Hope this helps. Bullet5.
  15. Actually i'll have you know she's a moped And my trails BIKE isn't a scooter or moped, it has fully functioning gears, and a manual clutch. And when was the last time you saw a 50cc pull a power wheelie? Without the rider having to shift their weight, pull up on the bars or put cement in their top box? Never? Well she pulled one today, (and that was by accident!) (sorry for going off topic a little folks) You won't need a stove decor, your bike's exhaust will be hot enough to cook a joint, (providing you wipe it down 1st, and sterilise it. )
  16. Oh thankyou Spafe I greatly needed that laugh after double mathematics.
  17. I'd love for it to be a definite, and i'm going to do almost everything I can to try and manage to attend. It souly depends on how the father is at the time (and the hope I can pass my full test in time). The bandit should be completed and roadworthy soon, just got a couple more tweeks then she'll be wrapped up warm until the summer arrives, new oil, filters etc, then mot, and insure. Got the gear, and the travel money etc shouldn't be a problemo. Looking forward to it greatly.
  18. Mike you'll have what your given ... Purple it is.
  19. I've had a box in the past, and can't fault it in anyway, apart from the fact it was damaged when it was dropped (damn brothers) I'd deffinatly say go solid though for that price, as you'll get a greater noise resistant one. However, If your willing to pay a little extra you could get a caberg flip front. My father's just bought one (well a few weeks ago) and on the couple of ride out's he's had, he says it's lovely. Very quiet, and easy to use. IXS make some alright flips, however the one i've got (can't remember model-Update: It was the Bx1) has horrible ammounts of wind noise above 55mph. Whatever you get make sure it's a goodfit, and has excellent noise reduction technology. For example no gaps in seals, a visor that is flush/very close to the main frame of the lid, and airvents that close fully, and dont leave a little gap (may not be much, but the amount of whistling you can get. Good Luck, and don't let those pushy sales people take control. Updated to include model.
  20. hehehe, i'm up for a powerranger, But what kind? the TV one, or the leathers? Gorillaz jumping out on traffic?! I'll have to keep the throttle pinned open then.
  21. I'll have to have a look into those thankyou Megawatt. Sound liek just what i'd need. But seen as i've spent over £150 in the past week on bits for the bandit and gilera, I can't really afford to buy anything else at the moment. Much appreciated, Bullet5.
  22. hehe Thankyou TC. I've order a set of gauges now anyway, the mercury type like ingah put a link to (infact the exact ones) as the big auction site was about £15 dearer. Anyway, thankyou greatly everyone. I'll let you know how I get on. Bullet5.
  23. Chris that was numbers, not myself Thankyou Ingah I'll get one of those. Just going to see where it's cheapest (for the real thing not a cheap copy) then i'll purchase. Much appreciated. Bullet5.
  24. excellent thankyou for the reply. Ill be wipping the sparkies out to replace them with some shiney new iridums anyway (mainly for the smaller power drain on start up) so ill be able to check them then. Are there any gauges people would suggest for ballancing? ive seen a few but would like to buy a appoved one if you get my meaning. Many thanks, Bullet5
  25. Mike you weren't the only 'young'n' going anyway Anyway, really looking forward to the whole thing. Just hope that i'll be free. Bring on the summer! (and with it my new bikey)
