  1. It depends what grade it is. A grade 3 will leave you in crutches. I suffered a grade 3 when I was abroad in a sprint race a few years ago, leg blew up and I couldn't walk to save my life. It was agony and I was up for the first couple of nights in acute pain.

    This site is good:

    http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cyber ... strain.htm

I know, im a physiotherapy student :D that website is epic, used it to help me learn muscles

and ive just wrote a report of a grade 2 injury to the medial collateral ligament :)

  2. Don't rush getting back in - or you will be out for months. A hamstring needs at least 3 weeks with careful light exercise in that time.

I agree, Although ive only been at uni for 2 months, i know that you should rest hamstring injuries for a good 3-4 weeks.... aggravate it and youll be out for months!

  3.   F*CK SAKE!!! bought the wrong bloody fairing again!!! AHHH!!

therefore the bloody bikes not having one!! going to just not have the side fairings on for now till i can bloody find one! I CANNOT ANYWHERE!!!!

soooooo... as the engine is filthy and not realy presentable its coming out on sunday and at some point getting degreased and painted black! and other bits and pieces will be getting stripped an cleaned too!

  4. Nat,

I am guessing it was the VSO who came to see you. They should be able to give you some ideas on how to raise money for this.

No it was a cmpany called Challenges Abroad, its for students only, they help with fund raising :)

  5. i only pay £250 boothy, i raise £2900 which helps pay for me to go and donate some to the charity.

ill be volenteering to help underprivelaged children in tanzania, in the schools. It can vary from helping them in lessons to help refurbish and decorate the school.

  6. Hey,

At uni we had a rep come and tell us about volenteering oppertunities abroad. I'm very interested in doing one but feel like i couldn't possibly raise the required money (£2900) in time, i dont know why but im useless when it comes to things like that as i wouldn't even know where to start..... If i do do it i have 9 months to raise the money, do you think this is possible??

  7. Well no progress has happened in AGGGESSS!!! sadly :( This is due to me moving to uni and such and the workload is intense... anyway...

I have finally sourced and bought a L/H fairing, so now the fairing is complete. Its now going to be painted but theres no timescale on that as im not sure realy when i can get anything else done and what with winter coming theres no big rush anyway.

Much still to do, have decided not to bother going too much into it so just generally going to give it abit of a tidy up and get it on the road. Still the front brake capilers to rebuild and bleed all the brakes, then will take the front end off and paint the bottom of the forks as theyre flakey.... then basically give it a service and away we go :) hopefully insure it as its only £190 for the year and get a few days in before the snow hits, but we will see how we go first....

Sorry for the realy slow progress, i had intended at first to have this dont before i went to uni, but having a faff with a company who sent me the wrong fairing ect and my better half starting a jon ive not had time realy

  8. I know where your coming from Neil, it would be irratating to me also, i couldnt comment as i dont know what the layout of the road was but if the cycle path was wide enough for me on the horse and for cyclists to get past without going onto the actual road id have used the cycle lane.

But horses have every right to use the road, and personally i dont like riding on them (had a friend and her horse killed in a RTA) but it is inevitable as not all bridleways, fields and places we can ride are linked by country paths ect. Mainly by road.

And no you shouldnt honk your horn at them... your then putting the rider and yourself in danger then, how would you fancy a horse backing up and sitting on your face as you sit on your bike? or watching the horse take off with the rider in tow and possibly running into an oncoming car?

  9. Well haven't been upto anything at all. Which is a real shame. Been real busy with work and sitting uni out ect ect, just general life realy.

Panels are with my friend for paint, havnt got the left side as they cocked up and infact didn't have my fairing! What pissed me off more was the fact they weren't even going to tell me, they waited till i got back from the lakes, found there wasn't a fairing here and rung them to find out what's going on! : anyway got a full refund... just can't find anouther fairing!!!!

I will just have to run it without for the time being.

Might finaly finish off the brakes tonight.......

  10. Best to stay away from the super sports bikes at your age, you'll not get a reasonable quote for one until your about 21 or built up a few years no claims im afraid.

The sv650 is lovely, and jamiek here is about your age and has one, 04 plate too i think. Dont think his insurance was too bad either, so perhaps your best looking at something like that.

Plus it'll restrict better than a bloody r1! Are you trying to kill yourself lol!

  11. Whilst in the lakes as the weather was pants we decided to go to some indoor climbing centres, a few lessons later and also £300 later we have a new expensive hobby! Bloody brilliant though! And gets you fit :P

Was wondering if anyone else did wall/rock climbing?
