Hi @gymwitch when you are in Hay do check out the gospel pass if you get the chance.

Oh and the pub by the toll bridge does a nice lunch in the riverside garden as well.

    Cheers

    Ian

We will be going there again Ian thanks for this info. Didnt manage it this time but Andy has family there so we will next time 😊

  2. Wow !!! That was an epic adventure for sure !!!

Day 1 we headed to Whitesands campsite at St Davids Bay with a few stops along the way. One of our group left us at Aberystwyth and went back home due to work commitments. That left 5 riders and 1 pillion. Later that evening Leroy joined us as he had to work so we were back to our original 6 riders. The campsite was basic and we rode to the top field. The wind was howling during the night !!! Awesome view though. 3 of us went for a dip in the sea when we arrived. The heat was tremendous.

Andy and i spoke to a local couple and they suggested we went to Elan Valley the next day so...

Day 2. Consisted of a ride over the Brecon Beacons and on to Elan Valley. We stopped at a campsite there where there was a river which i had to go in. On my own this time 🤣

Day 3 we rode around Elan Valley and the views were just epic. We called in at the Ponderosa cafe for brunch before heading home.

Epic weekend with awesome company. The weather couldnt have been better. Truly feeling blessed !!!

Presently sat in campsite only afew miles from the ponderosa cafe.

No one else here deciding which loop to ride today. Not going far as daughter will be in the back and is struggling with the heat.

However a relaxed ride is never a bad ride.

Ohhh might bump into you at some stage. We are coming back on sunday through Brecon Beacons and hopefully a stop at Hay on Wye. I love it there. Have a good un 👍

  4. Hi and welcome 😊 Im on my first bike Honda NC750s i love it and find it very comfortable. I have lowered it as im a shortie at 5'3. I commute and tour on it. Fully loaded with tent and what not. Usual Honda in that it very forgiving, super cheap to run (well when petrol was a normal price) Super easy to do basic mechanical stuff on. Will i outgrow it.....yes but for now its a great bike. Steady but got the legs when you need them. She's my Ruby 😍

I wouldn't usually pick up on spelling but there is a difference between dinghy and dingy so we need to know more.

A dinghy is a smaller sailing vessel such as a Laser, RS200, Enterprise, GP14 etc.

Dingy refers to things that are tatty and unkempt.

Sounds like your beloved is a stingy dingy dinghy racer.

    Dinghy as in Solo 😊

  7. Ive had dogs all my life and lost both my boys last year. The husky died suddenly in my arms one saturday afternoon and the jrt had to be pts after he had a neurological event and started fitting. He was nearly 18 so a good long life. It broke my heart. Ive had pets all my life but this really hit me hard. Anyway i was brought up to be the pack leader. Horses are the same. Ive brought animals round that have been out of control and mostly unresponsive to their owners. You just need to be in charge. Not everyone is cut out to be in charge of a gob full of huge dangerous teeth. I never left my kids unattended with the dogs i had. I just wouldnt risk it.

I used to ride my horse early in the morning and my jacky would run along side of us. Part of the ride involved us going through a load of free chickens. The jack never batted an eyelid. He was a useless hunter and never managed to catch any mice at the stables. However when we rescued a husky i was walking them both one day on foot through these chickens. Husky on lead. The jack snatched a chicken and ran off with it 😳 i couldnt believe it. He had been going through them for 5yrs or more and never showed any interest. My point here is triggers....i didn't see any interaction between the two dogs but there was a trigger. Did the jrt pick up on the huskies hunting instinct and decided he'd get in before the other dog ?? That opened my eyes which i thought were already open. You just cannot tell when a trigger will be pulled. I love dogs but i was always terrified of other aggressive dogs. Had more incidents with owners and their nasty dogs than i could poke a stick at. I dont miss all that. I do miss the lads though but I'll never have another unless i can live in the remotest of places away from stupid people and chickens 😳

  8. Had an awesome day. Hubs on his vespa and me on the nc23 went for brekkie this morning to our favourite place then popped into the Delph at Eccleston to see whats what as we've never been before. I want to do some swims there and id also like to go to the motorbike meet there on a Thurs eve.  Gorgeous morning if not a tad windy !!! We then went to watch Top Gun. I hate the cinema because i find it way too loud. I have solved that problem now as i took my loop earplugs and it was perfect.

Went to allotment on way home and rescued my polytunnel!!! It was on its way next door.

All in all an excellent day 😀

I've been checking my bees. One colony have gone mad with making honey. I've had to add more supers and strap the whole lot down. The ladders are there because I moved the heaviest supers to the top so it's top heavy.

There is a clearer board under the top three supers, each containing about 30lb of honey. So tomorrow those will be empty of bees and I can extract the honey.

The clearer board is like a one way valve. Bees can move down but not back up.

I extracted one lot during the week and put the sign out this afternoon. Five minutes later I'd sold five jars. People watch out for the sign so I'll probably have a busy evening.

There are seven supers on that colony, each capable of holding 30lb of honey so that's a total capacity of around 210lb. It has to sit on a steel plate to stop it sinking into the ground.

I don't have an electric extractor so I do it by hand. I'll look like Popeye by Monday.

    Wow. Thats awesome.

I have one I'm in the process of turning into a bird box. It will hang under the eaves of the house so it keeps dry.

Could you post pics when you have finished it? Ive a couple of spare lids.

On the stove subject does anyone take one of the cheap gas stoves woth them? The ones come in a mini brief case type thing and cost about £10 from Halfords etc?

I had one at my allotment until it exploded and blew a hole in the shed roof....when i say shed its a metal 3 sided cover for farm equipment and is about 15ft high 😳

    1. Was it my fault? Yes

    2. Will i be getting another? No

  13. New rubber and a very clean wheel...for the moment. Apparently putting a Bridgestone tyre on a Honda caused hilarity between the two mechanics there...not sure i get the joke 🤔

Brake pads are fine too. Just going to clean them before putting back on. I'll do the back one this weekend. It'll be ready for my camping trip in Kendal next weekend 😍 Hope this weather lasts !!

Its a scorcher here again today 🔥
