  1. won't fuel only get past if your piston rings are worn and it was smoking out of the exhaust before your problems? oil every 6 months or 1k miles I think.

I love the rust in the fuel symptom, brings back memories of my first fix / work on an engine. it was a £75 1.1 1984 fiesta in 2001. it had stopped running well, took apart the mechanical fuel pump and the fuel was orange. I had the biggest grin on my face that I fixed it without a manual or training.

  2. I'm guessing it doesn't have a fuel filter so get one fitted. Ask for the smallest one at your local motor factor. No need to replace the tank just don't let it run into or near the red.

You might need to give the carb a clean out if it's full of rust

  3. You only measure the bottom half of the chain? Rotate it round to measure the slack at different points. No taking the chain guard off mentioned in the manual.

And you measure the slack by gently pushing down. Measure from top of the link. Push up gently and it's however far the top of the link has moved. I watched a ton of videos first. My second time adjusting a chain :P

  4. it says at 5cm you risk damaging the frame. It might pop off the sprockets which happened to me on my old bike. I managed to get it back on at the road side. Just go easy on the throttle and don't use engine braking.

Changing the sprocket size to get more speed will reduce acceleration. I can easily keep up with traffic so don't know why you would want to go faster. it's safer having more acceleration. I doubt the sprockets need changing? Do the next owner a favour and use DID o ring :)

  5. 2.5k on cbf here just done the chain. I've got 5mm difference in the tight and loose spots. I'm guessing the chain hasn't been looked after by the previous owner.

my colleague at work has a 3 yr old wr125 from New has never greased the chain, in fact for the past year he has been riding around with a faulty float valve. spewing fuel everywhere he goes. I've offered to fix it for him for £50 :P

  6. it's 11 mice you git. after my service and fixing the hole in the air filter I've added 22.5mpg extra. should be more on the next tank as it was 3/4 full.

I can get 75 when tucking in helmet on tank. but then I look a nob do I only do it at midnight.

Apparently if you plank like those crazy Indians you can get 90 with a few mods. it's called a Honda Stunner there. Ever wondered what the blanking cap on the left panel is? It's a hole for the fuel tap on the carb model.

  7. there's a pattern here women are generally a few stone lighter and more aero dynamic than men. When my air filter had a great big hole in it I managed 75mph (indicated not necessarily true). now it struggles to get up to 70mph and that's after a service. fuel economy has greatly increased though. The main factor on reaching 70 is the wind I've found. if it's windy you aren't going past 60. on a very windy day I even struggled to maintain 50. this is all with a top box. I am 12.5 stone 5ft 11

replace the spark plug, oil and air filter to get extra umph or if your desperate remove the air box.

  8. I would be getting them to pay for bike lift to garage, clutch casing off, New gasket and new oil. if they don't pay take him to small claims court. personally though I would have called the police for criminal damage, means you'll get your compensation quicker.

    do not start the engine.

  9. check valve clearance - needs checking every 2.5k miles or every 6 months whichever is sooner

take spark plug out and describe here what it looks like, is it wet or soot covered - needs replacing every 12 months

check an in line fuel filter hasn't been added causing a kink in the line

if you haven't got the manual let me know and I'll post up the specs, though there is a great blog on how to do it yourself f you Google it

    .

also depending on what month it was originally purchased it's still in warranty?

p.s. to above there is no fuel tap on the cbf 125 :)

  10. I just put some 5-30w mixed with 10-40w magnetix

also put one of those powerful magnet things on the end of my oil sump bolt. came in the post this morning with my wife's debit card. strangely it's not working. ,,£4 for 5 Damn cheaper than buying the ready made one's.

  11. it was the 2.5k service which is first main service after the free minor service after sale. was £145. manual says valve clearance should have been checked. both the inlet and exhaust valves were the same. exhaust adjusted to correct clearance. I was suspicious when they said 2 hours, I came back after 1 to find it outside and ready to go.

  12. So I'm doing the 18 month service early, well 6 month since a service in January by Honda main dealer. The bike is a previous cat C. I was checking the oil breather hose and drain plug on the air box. When...

The bracket had snapped off where the bike fell to the right (I imagine as all damage was on right hand side). You would have thought Honda service would have spotted it though? Been breathing in unfiltered air for 2k miles, anyway I've fixed it now and it's running more like my old 125 now. Bit slower off the lines  There was a catch box inside the air filter at the bottom for the mayonnaise to stop it reaching the drain plug. That was full so cleaned that out.

Also I'm not an expert but I have suspicions they didn't even bother checking the valve clearances unless they use voodoo. The right panel was held on by a cable tie (from before) and the left panel had a bolt that was seized on (from before).

  13. I had a thumb nail pulled after a dog bite under local. I was shaking like a leaf but i didn't feel a thing. The pain started when they failed to get me my pain killers for after. Was the longest 14hr wait after a 12hr shift. 30+hrs without sleep.
