  1. The only way to tell if it will run on UNLEADED fuel is to remove the cylinder head  and examine the valve seats to make sure they are hardened.

    With the bike being so old there is a good chance it has been done but since you are asking you obviously don't have the documentation .

    The best bet is to use an additive until you have checked the valve seats are hardened

    For the person reading this in 5 years time with the exact same issue, my recommendation is to go to a garage and pay someone to do this for you but if you’re in too deep this is what I did:

     

    - With a hydraulic car jack lift the left side of the swing arm and insert the bolt, this part should be semi easy

    - Knock it in until it hits the swing arm on the other side

    - For this part you NEED 2 people minimum, 3 if you can. For 2 people: Rest the left side of the bike diagonally against a wall so you can access the rear of the bike (Front handle bar/tyre touching the wall)

    - Have one person on the right side of the bike, he has to push the rear of the frame towards the wall trying to line up the swing arm

    - And the other person has to be on the left of the bike lifting the rear by holding the underside of the seat and pulling it up, adjust until lined up

    - Now when the person on the right decides its lined up, the person on the left has to smack the bolt a couple of times to get the bolt to partially go in (Do not use much force if the bolt can it will go in)

    - If its in, first of all hoorah, second of all you’ll now realise the left side isnt lined up and the little cylinder isnt going in

    - You now have to slightly lift the left swing arm with a hydraulic jack until the bolt looks straight and smack it with a hammer, adjust car jack until it works

    - After all the faff you should be able to put the nut on the thread and celebrate

    after all that  you take it all off again and put the spacer in place

    insurance expires next week. Ditto.

That really stung as it effectively deleted 2 years off my license holding history, and insurers interpreted me as a new rider... Even though I had the same bike insured with them for over a year already.

    I think at that time the 33hp restriction was only for 2 years then unrestricted after

    I may be wrong, not sure about the dates

    I checked tyres yesterday and they were quite low so pumped them up to recommended pressure. Turns out gauge on pump is reading high as when I started up this morning the TPMS had a hissy fit as the pressures were way too high and I had just backed out. Got a separate gauge and both tyres were about 20% over recommended cold pressures. Adjusted them accordingly and rode 297 miles to Northumberland without any further issues. Once they warmed up they were consistent and recorded as 39 psi front (36 psi cold) and 46 psi rear (41 psi cold). 

     

    air is 80% nitrogen anyway

    You can tax the bike and insurance before hand, like today if you wanted, doesn't have to be after or in a particular order. foremost a live insurance policy is first to get sorted and that has to be done as a copper let alone a courts view of people lacking of insurance very dimly.😡

     

    You cant tax a vehicle without an MOT (if its old enough to need one )

    2 stroke are much easier and cheaper to maintain although they don't have the same power as the 4 stroke ones.

    The number of strokes are the piston's movements during a combustion cycle.

    I was under the impression that 2 strokes were more powerful because they have a power stroke every 2 strokes rather than every 4
