I used one of these to mount my controller unit to the bars:
http://www.superetrader.co.uk/images/herbet%20bike%20copy.jpg
You can get them from superetrader for about £4.
I just cut the 4 little raised bits off and then used the double sided tacky pad that came with the controller unit to stick it onto the flat surface. You could just as easily use glue.
now that look like it will do fine.
just ordered one. will let you know how i get on

i bought some heated grips off ebay a few weeks ago, but when i came to fit them today (first chance since snow) the backing plate that holds the box onto the handle bars is missing off the control box.
anyone any idea where i can get spares or how i would fix the box onto the handle bars.
basically fitting a square box onto 1" bars.
thanks

sorry if this has been covered in the past, did a search but nil turned up.
i am a car driver as well as a biker. but not a mechanic, lol.
i was wondering about car and bike oils. is it possible to use car engine oil for a bike?
mine specifies 10/40 as does my car service book.
also can i use a better grade oil than specified i.e 10/50 or 5/40 etc instead of a 10/40 as the book states. thanks.

i was filtering yesterday morning, about 10 mls an hour, very sunny day, lots of peeps moving over for me, then white van man saw me and blocked my way.lmao, i had to laugh as a few of the car drivers blasted their horns when they saw him move over.

its a shame the modern 125s are so limp wristed... i loved my old KH125 which could get to 85 and cruise at 70 all day long.. granted it was a 2 stroke like
i agree, i had a yamaha yb100 many years ago and remember it doing 70 all day long.
-
got to agree with the guys. i can get 75 out of mine down hill with a tail wind, lol.
seriously, i can cruise at 55-60mph on mine.
-
glad you finally got it sorted again
thanks

a small tear in the carb diaphragm. now repaired and all tickety boo.
i want to thank you guys for all the help. i have learned a bit more about the bike than i did last week, so worth it.
still, can't pick bike up till tomorrow now as off to see wife in hospital.

You dont have a sidestand switch do you ?
I had a bizzare problem like that where it would splutter like mad sometimes, i used to think it was running out of fuel etc etc.
On the way to the TMBF rally on the M6 just after i filled the tank we set off and it started spluttering like mad .. i pulled over and (mike) discovered that there was oil leaking onto the sidestand switch causing it to short when revving the engine, this cut the engine for a slit second rapidly making it splutter !!
We simply disconnected the sidestand switch and the problems dissapeared ! ... worth checking something like that.
Infact, any safety cut off switch potentially could be causing the problem.
P.S. the oil was leaking from my gear shaft seal ... which i only replaced the other week
it does indeed have a side stand cut out switch.
i will mention it to the guys in the morning.
(my wife broke her hand this morning, waiting for surgery, so bike is at the back of my mind at the mo)

ok, got theory over with, now to sort out DAS. not knowing much about the way to go on, a few questions.
what do i do first, book lessons then book test or get date for test then book lessons.
as I've been riding for a year now and feel very confident on my 125, should i risk having just a few lessons on a 500 (i can't find anyone up near me that does the all in one block lessons then test) or should i get as many lessons as i can afford (£25 per hour).
your thoughts very welcome.
