  1. if the bike is only 3 months old ring the dealer and see if they will collect the bike and sort out the repair as it isnt road legal with exhaust like that
  2. sounds like the timing is out the points should start opening at the f on the rotor that is when the spark is created take the plug out and place it in the cap rest on side of engine you will hear it spark if it is sparking after the f mark then palte needs moving slightly untill it sparks at the f mark
  3. thats called the woodruff key any bike shop can order it from honda or look up david silver spares
  4. has the bike got an inline fuel filter if not try putting one in
  5. if the starter motor is turning engine over fine then its a fuel or ignition problem take the spark plug out and rest it on the engine with cap fitted turn engine over and see if the plug sparks
  6. yes you should set the gap and follow directions in manual to make sure ignition timing is right so that it sparks where it should
  7. no fear of that it should just spark buut if you are getting the rotor off you mightas wel change the points and condensor while in there just make sure you set the gap right when putting back together
  8. turn the engine over by hand on the rotor with plug out but if plug is sprking then the points could need the gap setting
  9. that will teach me to check first.......lol......all that for nothing you need to check points and condensor you can see if there is a spark but looking through gap in rotor if it is points ign you will see them you can use small screwdriver to open them with ign and see if there is a spark as you do it........if not new points and condensor would be first to replace on my list
  10. yep meant fuel .......on a 2 stroke bike the petrol/oil mixture is drawn into the combustion chamber where it goes down around the crankshaft and then in piston chamber to be ignited it is fed round the crank under pressure and if the seal is worn it will escape there hence wont run as the compession is lost
  11. if you are getting oil/fuel mix in that casing there is good chance the crankshaft seal has gone the only way to replace is engine strip down to replace seal as it is fitted from inside engine case rather than dressed in from the outside
  12. do the simple things first fit new spark plug and might be worth taking carb apart and cleaning it also replace fuel as unleaded goes off after a few months and bike wont run right on it
  13. take the spark plug ut of the engine relace into the cap and rest thread part of plug on engine...........turn engine over and see if it sparks no spark try new plug
  14. most bike shops will be able to test the battery for you to tell if thats the problem and i doubt very much if they would let u try a battery as when new they have no acid in them they fill it for you while you wait
  15. could be the starter motor starting to give up and drawing to much power from battery and hence it wont spark...........does it kick start ok (if it has one)
  16. make sure if its 2 stroke that the oil pump is bleed properly and pumping correct amount of oil in if not sure add small amount of 2 stroke oil directly into petrol tank so that will help prevent it cooking might smoke slightly more but if its smoking then its getting oil........lol
  17. best way to find a good mot place is talk to other bikers and see where they recommend
  18. the further out it is the more air its getting so runs leaner
  19. the idle screw is often air mix basic rule is turn it all the way in and then out 1 1/2 turns as a starting point
  20. they subtract it from any payment they make to you

they have a vaccuum fuel tap and it sounds like the vaccuum side has stopped working you cab test simply by taking fuel line off the tap when cold and not running if fuel comes out the tap needs replacing
  22. false economy not to change sprockets as well they will be worn and will make new chain wear faster due to this
  23. check out your local car exhaust centres they sometimes have pipe bending machines to make up special exhausts they might be able to help you
  24. that would be about right for a new starter motor i would still think it might not be the starter motor itself if you can see the wire connecting to the starter motor you can connect a heavy duty lead like a jump lead direct from the positive side of the battery onto the union on starter motor if it doesnt turn over then its battery or starter motor if it does turn over then its the solinoid thats faullty
