    TYRES!!!!!!!

well when i get to the shop i will pull it out with my key or something and if it goes down i need a new one.. if not ill tell them to have a look and see if it is safe.. its gonna be an expensive week! just spent £40 ordering a new air filter aswell and now this!

    TYRES!!!!!!!

just rang them up and because its a ZR rated tyre they would never plug it! which was there words, as its not safe enough so they dont risk it so looks like it'll be a new tyre

its just on the edge of the thick part of the tread but i didnt know if they did that so i shall ask tomorrow if its ok plug it.. plus i dont no how far through its gone if at all i dont fancy pulling the metal out at home as if it has gone tthrough ill have to pay to get the bike to the shop!

    TYRES!!!!!!!

well as the tyre with the most tread is the rear on my bike its obviously the one thats got the nice shiny bit of metal! now as im not great on motorbike mechanic-ing ive got it booked in for a new rear tyre at the shop i brought from who put a new one on 2 months ago! but the question i want to know is... if when i get it changed can i get the old one repaired so that when it happens again or this new one becomes knackered can i used the old one? or is it just a case of change the £140 tyre every time you get something in it? plus i dont no yet if it has gone all the way through as i will try take the bit of metal out when im at the shop so if it has it can got straight in.. help??
  9. ill be up for the ride out steady pace or fast pace i dont mind Jamie - SV650S
  10. Thats how i passed, 8000 miles on a 50cc 5000 miles on a 125cc and read all the tips on here and watch the videos on youtube
  11. i should really know that thanks
  12. techno.. i think you should organise something to get us boring midlanders up north to these so called 'proper roads' im up for a meet at rutland water too.. where ever it is
  13. thanks for editing that alex, i obviously meant that! whats? ( 120 IIRC & IMO ) and yeah ive had the light come on at 95 miles which is the lowest best is 120 miles i have to go through city centre some weeks and it never affects it really ive cleaned old air filter out abit but i think imm gonna look at a k&n one as that should help air flow + fuel economy ill let everyone know how much ive done to this tank by the weekend
  14. We've had a meet up at cat & fiddle and ladybower and pidcocks these were a few weeks ago anyone got any ideas where else and when for just a general meet up? Ideas where when and who? And some sunny weather like cat and fiddle and ladybower rideouts
  15. yours is a full dogs bollocks supersport bike, so i wouldnt expect 40+mpg but mine isnt a supersort so i expect 40+mpg mine got 33bhp so god knows where all the fuel is going!!
  16. Air filter aint great which wont help and need to bring home a spark plug socket.. We'll clean out the air filter see if i get any better mpg.. Worth a try Not bad to say CMC clay cross 'serviced' it 2 month ago!!
  17. I can ride steady or fast and i usually get 39.9mpg i work it out to be Did a full tank on motorway miles in 6th at about 80mph most of the time and got 43mpg lol Ill try going slower in a higher gear as wind resitance has a lot to do i think Ill keep trying
  18. ill check air filter spark plugs etc.. even though cmc where meant to service it when i brought it but ive had probs with them before!
  19. thats what my plan is:P http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Suzuki/Suzuki-SV650S-1999-current/ that says 40mpg which i would be happy if its true but it also says its max speed is 123mph but imn sure they are meant to do 140mph, idk
  20. just tried the higher revs.. well thrashing it for a bit but the fuel light was already on when i set off and well... i had to ring a mate to fetch me some petrol .. 130miles to a 17 litre tank! i make that about 34mpg..i think the bike needs to get for a check up or a service or something! that terrible!
  21. ok thanks for the tips ill try different riding styles for a few more tank fulls then if it dont seem to get much better ill take it back to the shop as its got warrenty and ill see if they can find anything wrong people on wikipedia have said it should do 40-55mpg and range at about 186 miles, 186 miles mean 49mpg so ill see how close i can get to that
  22. well its restricted with a standard exhaust.. and on a motorway run i did 140 miles on £20.50 and worked out it was about 43mpg that was in 6th gear at about 80-85mph most of the time... to me that sounds terrible!
  23. if you read this off mcn it says to stay at maximum torque to get most mpg.. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/RidingEvents/ridingeventsresults/Riding-skills/2009/December/dec2209-how-to-get-best-mpg/ now you see im riding my sv650 at about 4k and thinking thats prob the best for mpg but it says to go to max torque which is 7k and that to me sounds to much and makes me think how can that be good for fuel economy so anyone who is good at riding economically, how do you do it?? then they say.. A Ducati 1098 achieves its best mpg of around 59mpg at 75mph in fifth wish the sv would do 59mpg!!
  24. as im still a newbie im still learning but ive been reading all these riding skills bits and bobs about gear changes and they say to blip the throttle when changing down otherwise you risk locking the rear up and if im honest its happened a few times on me so i need to find a way around it.. but when changing down should you change down release the clucth then blip or down the gear change.. can anyone explain it? or show me a post if someone has already asked this sort of question?? thanks
