  1. My mate does 170 mph in Tesco's car park every Thursday afternoon, and he's never got caught. big ass car park?! and bike
  2. how likly is it to pass an unmarked cop when ur actually breaking the law? bad luck was my point (tho as he already knowns he deserves punishment)
  3. thats shit luck m8, unmarked cars are just nasty. i know people that ride 150+ on single carriage ways for years and never been caught or had an accident.
  4. got breakdown cover? they can have a look and test battery and fuse's. i dont know much about electrics but i do know breakdown cover means they can take it home for you
  5. I also work mon-fri in smart shirt&trousers and my commute takes bout 20mins. I wear my clothes under textiles (gortex) in bad weather so they stay dry and under a leather jacket and mesh type material summer trousers on sunny days. i have brought my clothes 1 size to big, 54 when im a 52, so i can comfortably fit clothes under bike gear. i think changing at work will make ur 15 minute jurney turn into a 25min jurney, and who wouldnt rather stay in bed 10mins?!
  6. PROBLEM RETURNED But... i am sure it is carb icing as 'pro fst' makes the bike run perfect. i have found the below links on the subject (just incase anyone wants the answer to carb icing) http://www.triumphrat.net/hinckley-clas ... ing-2.html http://www.thunderace.host.sk/thunderac ... arbfreeze/
  7. im in witham in essex, can do the od weekend every now and then if you post when i will check here when i get a free weekend coming up
  8. Hi all, Im planning on going throught France and spain in April. I have had my full license for 1 and a half years. is there a law in either of those countries that means i have to go 90kph bcz i have had license less than 2 years? i have also heard the french require a hi-vis and triangle, but i believe its not required with a motorbike? is there anyother laws i need to consider?
  9. PROBLEM FIXED Thanks for all the suggestions & help. the bike really got worst in the last few days, stalling while riding, so i took it into the yamaha dealer and left it with thyem for the day. it was a filthy fuel filter/carbs that was the problem and bike now runs smooth as did cost me £132 , but atleast i wont stall infront of oncoming traffic now
  10. good idea, think i should go for the Iridium plugs? or if its the carbs will it ruin these plugs just the same?!
  11. well this morning when i started it up i realised that it was kicking out quite alot of smoke so it must be running lean. weather is very foggy today so maybe made it show up more. also i was keeping the revs high and it felt like it was close to juttering when doing 70 in a straight line. i did stop at a junction today on the way to work and it was pretty juttery pulling away. would you say thats enuf proof that i need someone to check out the plugs and the carbs?
  12. nope, problem just popped up and became more frequent. well i suppose i only had the bike for 1 month then i put the can on then it was about 1-2 months after that that problem showed up. its an after market can, i took off the stock.
  13. are you saying if i simply adjust the idle mix it will solve my problem? i will test the throttle/rev responce on way home. it has had dynojet (proper job done) with previous owner, since then i have changed the exhaust (and not adjusted anything else) and im guessing airfilter was changed in last service. ------ to: caretaker i ragged it into work as suggested, in 3rd gear (5 speed) speeds between 70mph (revs 5.5k)-125mph (revs 10.5k), and i didnt get any juttering, but i also didnt need 2 stop at any junctions today as it was clear and only green lights. generally did feel better at lower speeds tho.
  14. some good points there thanks. plugs where pretty white and not in gr8 nick. can u suggest a new set of plugs to use (i think the garage i use puts cheap plugs in)? what are the super long life ones called and are they worth it? it does give the feel of wrong mix from the carbs (giving it more throttle when it splutters doesnt help much, pulling clutch works better)
  15. http://www.thunderace.host.sk/thunderac ... owto/exup/ i think those things will have been done its it last service, the plugs where a mess but where changed and should be a problem with them after 2 months?
  16. well it was about 15 degrees ish 2 months ago? (in essex) when it started. it wasnt below 10 degrees weather last month either. also could it be freezing when it pulls away fine when i first get on the bike in the morning but then once iv been riding 10 mins it seems 2 get worst? (does low rev motorway riding make the engine colder than doing nothing?!)
  17. Hi guys and girls, i have a p reg yzf1000r thunderace (22500 miles on clock). it starts fine in the mornings maybe a little bit of choke but sounds good and starts well. it does make a noticable clicking sound when ticking over but not sure if this is relevant. i commute everyday at 70mph ( ) in top gear at less than 5k revs, jurney takes about 20 mins one way. the problem occurs when i have been riding atleast afew miles, when i start to go 60mph in top gear and revs are about 4k it really struggles and almost feels like it wants to stall (this problem only happenin over the last 2 months) and/or when i get to a junction and have to stop, pulling away (sometimes) it is really juttery and its embarassing when it sits on the edge of nearly stalling and i have to balance clutch and throttle to keep it going. i have reported this problem in this forum b4 about 2 months ago and the end result was a suggestion that i should take a look at the ex-up valve. i did take it to the garge and they lubed it and said it seems fine, the next couple hundred miles after that it ran normal and i assumed problem solved. but this problem has started coming back more frequently but is still pretty intermittant (unless how i ride from day to day changes this?). i am not technically minded but am sensible and have been riding 3 years. bike had a service 1k miles ago (same time as ex-up value was checked). not sure when carbs where last done (more than 5k miles tho). it sits in the cold each night and is now getting freezing cold as im sure u all are aware of. what is the bikes problem?!
  18. cheers btw, ur detective skills are impressive
  19. yes i can! happened on and off for about a month now. what does that mean exatcly? how will this effect the bike? should i head straight 2 a garage? If it does whirr and whine its the valve thats opening and shutting and is normal for it to make that noise, if you don't hear it then its probably stuck. You might even be able to see it turning. (its at the bottom of your exhaust under the engine) The EXUP valve gives you more power at low revs by shortening the exhaust and then changes at high revs to give you more power. If they stick or the cable breaks etc... you'll notice it more at low revs than high revs. If the valve is stuck though, you won't damage the bike by riding it. well looks like work that is above me so ill look into going 2 a garage. found this on it http://www.thunderace.host.sk/thunderac ... owto/exup/
  20. yes i can! happened on and off for about a month now. what does that mean exatcly? how will this effect the bike? should i head straight 2 a garage?
  21. it doesnt feel normal in high revs either i noticed this morning doing 110mph in 3rd at 9500rpm out of 11500rpm it does sit in the rain under a cover most nights. only got fuel from where i usually do in the last 2 months. it seems to pull away fine in 1st without much gas, it will even creep away without any throttle still. i will hopefully tighten my chain round my m8s soon to eliminate that possibilty.
  22. before last friday the bike was running fine, the oil warning light came on so i got some castrol semi 10w-40 which is what is in it atm and topped it up with about 180ml. i also lubed the chain. the window now shows the oil level at just under the max level. and i just noticed the chain is abit slack. the problem is when in high gears at low revs its gutless and i have to drop a gear to overtake or even speed up. never had this feeling/problem b4. bike is used almost everyday in all weathers. other than oil and lube nothing has changed with the bike. hasnt been serviced in 3k miles (3 months) and it has been well looked after in its life. what is its problem?! (bike is a 97 yammy yzf1000r thunderace)
  23. i have both a textile HG (£260) and Leather HG (£160) jacket. i would say go for a summer jacket bcz in summer spring and most of autum i find myself wearing my leather jacket cz it protects me from the weather just fine and it looks better than a allweather/textile jacket. and a BIG + for you is that you have a car i the difference between all weather and summer jackets isnt that great, except in winter but i strong suspect u will be in the car then. i think you should choose ur fav, not the one u think will be 'better' for the weather (a rain mac over the top of leathers make it 100% waterproof anyway and cost £15)
  24. this week im wearin a fully camo water proof set, and my matt black helmut. but feel safe enough, just make sure u look at ppls eyes when u ride past a junction, keep urself safe and hi vis mite not help
