You are more then likely right phil, but how did you read that, is it just a blur on my screen but is the right length for it. keith -
Have you checked for air leaks in the carb rubber and hoses? I would still favour a carb fault or a bit of dirt in it somewhere, I read you have cleaned the carb but with respects did you do it properly? Keith

Yamaha do not do touch up paint any more, go to your local paint shop and ask them to match it, they will mix some touch up for you, mine charges me £5 for a small screw top tub with brush. which is possibly ten times the amount you get from the bike/car makers Keith

Just make sure you are not fitting the twist grip one to the other side it is slightly bigger, if that is ok rap some type around the bar and fit with glue, I use an impact glue when I have to which is not often, the last ones I fitted I had to bash on with a soft hammer. Keith

GSF 600 - Spark Plug snapped - bottom half in engine
oslin06 replied to chalkmyster's topic in Pitstop
How did you get it stuck you just turn it the other way to remove it?, having read all you posts I am wondering if you have a cross threaded plug, in which case you will need to put an insert coil in after it has been removed. -
I have just ordered a new front one as it is nearly down to 1.5mm you might get a few more miles out of it, but it will not be good in the wet and you are more likly to get a punture if you are unlucky, I would change it. Keith

Hi biker moo, if your bikes floods when the tank is full I would suggest you need to look at the carb needle valve as it might be leaking by with the extra fuel pressure, that should not happen. Keith

Check the front sprocket has not come off the drive shaft, you will need to remove the cover to see this if it has not then I would take the cover off the others side and check the clutch, if that looks ok then it will be the gear box, I would contact the old owner to see what he/she is prepaired to do about it, if any thing? that will depend if he/she is a nice person or not, perhaps you should do this before taking anything off, If you were anywhere near Kings Lynn I would come and have a look for you but if you are in London it is a bit far to come sorry. Check all the connections and the earths including the battery, make sure they are clean, use some electrical cleaner on the spade/push in connectors. Keith

Yes i agree with another post not sure about the GSX1100G but all other Suzuki's I have worked on the left coil feeds 1 & 4 and the right coil feeds 2 & 3 are you sure they are on the correct plugs check the book if you have one, if they are and are firing ok then you need to find out why the left pots are running rich, as you say they are black in colour, causes are air leak,to much fuel, choke if you have one is it off on those two pots, or a coil breaking down, you can check this by swaping the coils over, oh and some suzuki's I have worked on have had dirty multi plugs behind the head lamp which has caused problems with the coil low tension supply, clean the multi plug. Good luck and let us know how you get on please. Keith

I just use a grinder to grind off the tops of two rivets on the same link and pull it apart, to bend the rivet over on the new chain I use two hammers one each side and rivit it over but be careful not to rivit it up so tight that the link will not move you just need to pean it over enough so the plate will not come off and the link is free, and yes as said you need to do all the sprocket nuts and the wheel nuts up to the right torgue, watch the marks on the wheel spindle to make sure the wheel is in line and you have the correct chain free play, you will need to check the chain free play again after you have done a few miles, Oh, and do not forget to keep it lubed up. Good Luck Keith

I have had this on two other bikes i have had before I solved it by making up a stainless steel strip mounted from the switch forward clamp screw to the brake lever bolt, secures it all nicely. Keith

I am possibly way out here because I cant figure out where it is on the bike, but it does look like an old style fuel tap ???? Keith

In most cases it is just the bulb and connections to the bulb that have got dirty and need cleaning, if it is not then as others suggest check the wiring. Keith

I did not know there were any drainage holes either, cant recall seeing any, I will have another look as well, not that I have any problems at present. Keith

just a daft question, but the drive chain is not to tight is it ? that will cause a whine and damage to the gearbox out put shaft bearing in time. Keith

Cheshire, try putting half an egg cup of engine oil down the bore turn it over a few times then replace the spark plug and go for a start and see if you are lucky, if it starts it just means the bore had dried out from standing and not giving enough suction or compression. Keith

I found this 1992 Triumph Trophy 900 in a sad state last year, and took it on as a project and finished it, and got the MOT done, I will sell it after Christmas to start another project. I have used the same pair of Daytona boots for the last ten years, yes ten years, they are starting to look a but tired now but they are still water tight and comfortable, yes they are expensive but you only get what you pay for and if they fell apart tomorrow they will owe me nothing and will have out lasted many other makes three times over. Oh and you can resole them as well Keith

I have seen some big panniers a bit like a top box that extends down to the swing arm on both sides like an upside down horse shoe is the best way I can explain it, on courier bikes and they are all white GRP so someone must make them, they might suit you ? Keith

I do not think there will be enough clearance between the header hole and the stud to accept any long shank nut, if you are lucky you could drill a hole in the stud and use an easy out, but exhaust studs can be a pig, I would heat it after drilling the hole and then use the extractor, failing that its take the headers off to get to it. Hmmmm, may I suggest that if you are not 100% confident in the work you are doing on it, get an experienced mate to look it over for you just in case, it is better for me to comment on here than you being in Hospital sorry if this offends, it is not meant too. Keith
