  1. Anyone going up for the races next weekend? I'm hoping that the weather holds out, might even give the tent a airing
  2. Hi there, you should of not heated the bolts. you need to heat the metal around the bolts. heating the bolt will cause the bolt to expand and go tighter in the thread socket. Give the bolts another soaking of wd40 then heat up the area around the bolt, try not to heat the bolt. The expanding metal around the bolt thread should break the bolt free. best of luck mate.

  4. Hi, bit late coming in here you may have got it sorted. I've got air suspension on my kawasaki zx10 b3. Just a bit of info if you have not got it sorted. First dont use a airline at the garage to charge it or you will distroy the shock. Get a shock pump from halford £20.00 or there abouts, you will find these in the push bike section. The shock normally run at atmospheric pressure you only need to increase the air pressure if the shock is bottoming out, there is oil in the shock to aid damping note: The air only acts as the spring. If the bike is bouncing all the time the damping mechanism is probably U/S you may be able to change the oil and recover this. Hope this help
  5. A load of oil on the floor then it looks like you've blown your engine my friend. Most likely you’ve done a piston. Probably a piston is holed or the piston rings broke, resulting in the crankcase being pressurised causing all the engine oil being pumped out of the exhaust system or crankcase vent. You can do test for each cylinder for compression with a meter. But it is fair to say its a major strip down anyway being that the cylinder head and block is in all one piece.

Its Got to be gas tight, or you could run the risk of starting a fire!!. + serious noise problems also. Exhaust gasget paper + exhaust putty should do the trick

Hi there, as a tempory repair you could try some of the gear from this site. You can get it from Halfords i've used the putty and can highly recommend it, its very very strong and handy, a must in any repair kit, if your going away and have a drama it will fix loads of things. Make sure you give the broken area plenty of support and all the brackets are holding it all firm. Best of luck, hope you get it sorted and make it to the time you can afford a replacement http://www.repairproducts.co.uk/page41.htm
  8. Hi, If it running cold could be a couple of issues. My first check would be, If its water cooled to check the thermostat and cooling system is working correctly. Secondly if you know anything about checking a 2 stroke engine, take it out run it up get it hot and then do a plug chop. Check the condition of the spark plug, crispy brown colour is what your looking for. White or black then you have got issues. In general you will not be able or need to fit a bigger carb, though you might need it rejetting to get the best out of it, also check the air filter this is a must. Note: Don't mess with it if your no sure, 2 strokes are not forgiving, if you get the fueling wrong, you could end up with an hot or even cold seizure. expensive
  9. Hi all, just checked the weather forcast for Assen, be prepared Hot until Friday, possible T storms Saturday - Sunday, hope we miss them. Typical Dutch weather Burnt of drowned.
  10. Hi all, Well my route up to Assen is going to be up towards Leeuwarden via 19 mile long Afsluitdijk dyke. This runs across the top of Holland. Awesome bit of Dutch engineering well worth a look. Big warning to all travelling over, the police will be out in force big style, don't forget this is the country that brought us the speed camera's you have been warned. So looking forward to getting home and ready.
  11. Hi Vicki, be warned not much chance of sleep on Friday night Assen rules. You may have already been, if not, your in for a blast, beer more beer, live bands fairground and loads and loads of bikers all off the leash. Have you sorted your route out yet? express or tour?. Fingers crossed for the weather.
  12. Hiya, thanks for that, we are staying at my friends place, within earshot of the circuit. For sure you won't sleep Friday night Assen a blast, bands booze and fairgrounds not like the grave yard camp sites of Donny. You all have a great time. fingers crossed for the weather. Which route are you taking ?. We will be going over the dyke a must see
  13. Me and my new lady going also, catching Harwich midnight ferry Thurs. Assen Friday night has just got to be done, weather wise as said, be ready to be burnt of drowned. If only Donny could put on anything like this Dutch show. carn't wait
  14. Hi, I think road legal lighting is the biggest issue, you can buy quick release kits for most enduro's. First drop into your local mot centre and have the crack with the guy's and see what they require to get you a pass. Or better get a pre MOT inspection you will then have a list of thing that need to be done.
  15. Early this year l was in the Dainese shop. I asked the man in the shop about the best way of cleaning leather gear. He told me that the Dainese race technician use only baby wipes. They take boxes of them to the race meets. Cheep enough l think
  16. Never heard of that one what ever next You should be able to ride whenever you want. Are you sure about this?. They always state that, the machine needs to parked off road and secure, but riding time restricitions that l've never heard of.
  17. Hi all, i've had a set of biker earplugs moulded whilst down at the bmf last weekend. The guy doing the fitting was very helpfull. He stated that, the in earphones work but the down side is there is no com's with the outside world. He told me to try the inner ear plugs first and use the standard ear phones that you stick on the inside of your helmet and try it. These are like the one's you get with the stock starcom system. He said that, the ear plugs will filter out the high wind noise but allow the music sound in, it stops the need to be cranking up the sound system up to drown out the wind noise. Should have it all up and running very soon, will let you know how it works out
  18. My tip goes as follow's 1 Clean clear scratch free visor is a must, a scratched visor is just a nightmare for glare. Never look directly into oncoming headlights. 2 Regarding lighting upgrades for the front, i've done quite a bit of research into this and a i've tested a few. Top lights by a long way are H.I.D's i've got them fitted on my Bimota nothing comes near them. be careful with the colour 6500k l think is the best for driving, power consumption is only 35w. Don't be thrown by all the bull you'll read about halogen lights giving the same light output and colour as H.I.D. H.I.D give way pass the light anything a halogen can do. i've tried and test numerous halogen lamps there are some good one's, but one thing you have to be very care of is, don't go pass the wattage limit of the light fitting 65watt is the max norm. Note: serious damage can be done to the switches, wiring and the light fitting if you go over the top. 3 Also on lighting make sure the rear is working also. Hi vis gear will make you be seen but, will not make you any safer with your riding. Don't get complacant, be ready for the unexpected, broken down unlit lorry's, car, skips, horse muck and bloody rabbits to name but a few. Stay Safe.
  19. Try this site, http://www.ultimateear.com/motorcycle.htm
  20. Sounds normal to me. 103c my fan suppose to cut in. Without the bike being on the move does not take a bike long to start cooking with all that plastic holding all the heat in. He's to warm sunny days
  21. Dorna Sports has announced that the 2008 MotoGP World Championship will be the last to be broadcast by Eurosport. "After many years of successful collaboration, MotoGP rights-holders Dorna Sports would like to announce that coverage of the MotoGP World Championships will no longer be available on Eurosport from the 2009 season, Me i'am gutted, l will cancel my cable tv next year. And all we have to forward to is Aunty beeb, No qualifying no 125's or 250's and no Mamola
  22. Hi, first remove the spark plug and check for a spark, once thats proven check the fuel system, as said previously. Note: unleaded fuel is a nightmare in stored bikes. i was told not to drain the system, but to run the engine on a regular basis, draining the carbs leaves a residue in the galleries and also glues up the jets, you can end up wanting a new carb. A bike stood for 3 years l would change all the fluids, oil, water and brakes. Hope you get it sorted.

Unlikely all the coils have failed at once. I would start at the kill switch on the bars then the side stand switch then onto the pick ups to the C.D.I unit. Check the primary side first before moving to the H.T. coils and plugs. I've seen bikes stopped many a time from a simple broken side stand switch.
  24. Depends on how long you got, but Ypres and Passchendaele are a must for the WW 1, Just mind blowing what a waste of life. For WW2 Normandy beaches take some beating. This web site should give you some pointers http://www.ww1battlefields.co.uk/index.html
  25. Was good to see you all, pity about the weather. Most got as far as the Cat and fiddle pub then turned back. Snoopy and crew decided to march on. In the end l made a solo full lap. no rain but soaking roads most of the way back to Buxton. R well better luck next time, carn't fault you all for making the effort and trying. Got to be a summer out there someday . Hope you all got home without any drama's. Catch you next time. Chris SB6
