The trip should be done at a nice and steady pace, as said there be plenty of police and camera's about, just leave the police and camera's for the muppets and daft lads "enjoy". Just hoping the weather going to sort itself out and let the roads dry up. 100 and odd miles will fly by on this route, there should be no need to worry about arse ache "to much to see and do". I only get aches and pains when the brain get bored. motorways and the like. we should find time to stop and have a stretch along the way anyway. Roll on the 8th -
Hi Nell, if you are sorted fine. If still stuck give us a call, should be able to sort a seat out for you. Will be traveling up from Notts Keep us posted. Is it that cold in Mansfield?

If you are sure everything went back as it came out and the same grade of plugs are fitted.Take it out for a good run, then remove each plug and check for colour and condition, it is still one of the best ways to check the motor A good link here to show you what to look for http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/tech ... gnosis.htm If as you said the fuel filter was very dirty that might of leaned off the fuel mixture due to flow restriction. Now that a new filter is in place a full flow is available causing the increase in consumption and overfueling on the overrun which could make the noise you are talking about. As said the best way is to check the plugs. Best of luck

Have to say for me its Avon Tyres. I've got Avon Azaro 3 fitted to the old zx10 They have deepest tyre tread by far, and give me plenty of confidance wet or dry. Done 5000 miles now and still look fresh. Bimota fitted with the Avon Vipers, again gave a far better ride and feed back than the original Pirelli's. he's a link below that might be of use: http://www.motorbike-tyres.com/#avon

Rideout and Meet Matlock Bath - 8 July - 11am!!

O.K Vicky, here goes for me the best place to park is the The Lead Mining Museum Pavilion Building car park. Its a popular place to park for the bikes. For sure it will the best place for a meet, or else everybody will be scatterd up and down the main road trying to park up. Then nobody will know who's riding what. The car park is on the main road through matlock bath on the riverside just as the road start to rise to leave Matlock Bath. it has a fair size carpark mainly full of bikes you cannot miss it. The cars do get in there but its difficult to park a car there on busy days. Best place to park the car if you are not lucky enough to find a slot is the Railway station carpark at the other end of the town, from there its a nice steady walk along the riverside to the place mentioned above about 20min. As for routes there is only one main road through Matlock Bath so you carn't go wrong. If anybody got any other ideas then please feel free to add Links below showing building, as said it cannot be missed. http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/leadmus.php http://www.derbyshireuk.net/matlock.html -

Birthday weekend for me, but if my body's up for it, then i'll try and be there, might try and tag a few mates along as well. Vicky can you confirm the meeting point and time. Also, are there going to be any local gatherings for the ride up to matlock bath or are we all making our own way there. If anbody from the Notts area wants to meet for the ride up let me know. -

Hi Snoopy matlock M/C is all but shut now, there's still the cafe at the side but its a bit out from Matlock Bath where all the foooood and bikes are. Suggest the best meeting place is the carpark Matlock bath pavillion and mining museum on the brow of the hill normally there's plenty of parking for the bikes and for Vicky more ice cream and chip shops than you can shake a stick at. http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/leadmus.php http://www.derbyshireuk.net/matlock.html If you look at the links there's a photo of the building you carn't miss it. Hope the weather's fine for this. Its just a skip and a jump for us in Notts to get there, birthday weekend for me so don't know whats planed but will try and cut loose and take the ride if poss. -
l always try and lube up the chain after a long ride when the chain is still warm, l don't use a cleaner and reading through one of the links attached below gave some alarming reading as to why not to use W.D.40 on a bike chain, well worth a read that. Even when l had a right good dirty day out off roading with the Gas Gas all l do is jet wash the bike down and relube the chain, its been on for 2 years now and still looks fine. At the mo l am using Kal Gard racing spec clear chain kote with P.T.F.E does what it say's on the can http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/motorcyc ... a/lube.htm

You can always take off what you got on, but carn't put on what you ain't got He's hopeing for a dry day.
-
Hi Snoop, Just come in from thrashing the mower on a fast lap of the garden After a clean up will be fettling bikes, as to which one to go on, don't know at the mo, depends on the body in the morning Bims alright if you are on the move quick and twisty head down arse up . it no fun in traffic. The zx10 will cope with ow't with me pipe and slippers. Anyway, hopefully l will see you in the morning. chris
-
Hi Snoopy, hope to see you at meeting place in the morning, I'am normally on time, if not there don't wait chrissb6

Hi the sump plug is normally is not that tight. be sure you have the right bolt and the right tools for the job. make sure to have the right size socket plus a power bar, best done with a warm engine, it should come loose easy with this. On completion remember to fit a new copper or alloy washer and tighten up to the correct torque setting for the bolt. If this is the first time you have done this then a torque wrench is a must. Too tight and you'll crush the washer and maybe strip a thread, to loose well, we don't want to even go there!! Hope you manage to sort it, fair play for having a go. If you need any more help get intouch. regards chris

That view well worth that extra mile, let us know when your up for another trip, might just nip out through the cat flap for that one.
-
Use mine on me Zx10 it works fine, nice and bright big disply, and the up side of it is gives me a G.P.S readout if l break down or get into a drama. Also was brill when we went to Europe as you can switch to read K.M.H. Radar detector would only pickup hand held mobile camera's not the fixed units though.
-
I agree with the rest, l would get it fixed proper, rad weld is a temp repair to get you home. Remember that if all goes well, its going to be a lot hotter down there in spain and that rad going to have a lot of work to do. as it gets hot it will start to expand thats when it will start leaking all over again and f'@@k up your hol's. Look for a service exchance unit, there must be one some where, or try ebay for a replacement Hope you get it sorted, have a good hol's.

If you live in Nottingham try these people: http://www.mtsnottingham.co.uk/index.htm or I've found this one that might be of use, S.P.S Mobile tyre motorcycle tyre specialists Tel 07973157403 or 01773-710882 I've used MTS there sound, I've no feed back from the other. Its a pain to do them yourself without a bead breaker, and for sure they need to be balanced. Hope you get sorted regards chris

Hi, I would connect the supply to the heated grips onto the switched side of the main ignition switch via an inline fuse, without checking wiring diagrams l cannot give you reason for your present fault, but it obvious that when you press the brake switch the supply to the grips is broken and you then have to energise the circuit, don't think you have a problem with the grips as l think they would not work at all. Hope this helps regard chris P.S there bliss when they are working
-
Best to get it on a dyno. This will tell you where the problem is. As it got an after market can fitted, then more than likely you need a dyno jet kit to be fitted . Don't cut corners on this one, a lad that knows what he's doing with the right kit, will save you time, money and agro, it not fun riding a bike with a big flat spot in the power band on wet or dry roads. Most of the big bikes fitted with carbs did suffer from this problem. As l am aware the new generation of bikes fitted with fuel injection normally don't get this problem or they need to get a fueling and ignition system re mapped. Be safe regards chris

Don't forget after tighting everything up, to pump up the brakes, its not a nice feeling having the lever coming back to bars and not being able to stop
