  1. Hi All I am trying to find my old ZZR600 REg no L29 SUA. Its showing as not MOT'd since 2011 and not currently insured. It was my first big bike and would love to get it back. If anyone has any information I'd very much appreciate it Cheers Griff
  2. My sentiments exactly!! It will get worse quickly! And usually at the worse possible moment!! Get it fixed mate!
  3. Why would you want to ride with it up? or with an open face helmet? When riding around town you are more likely to have a SMIDSY and end up needing the helmet to do its job ie protect your head + face!! 30mph is enough speed to remove part of your face should you slide down the road!! As you can probably tell i'm not a fan of flip up lids!! I know they're tested to the same standards but having a hinge and a split built in to the front of the lid just sounds like a weak point to me!! Each to their own i suppose!! but i'll stick to my full face lid ta. My mugs not pretty but i'm attached to it!!
  4. Did you have any joy with this mate??
  5. I would have driven up to scotland for less than that Seriously though Teach yourself or get some classes !! What I know about mechanics you can fit on a postage stamp but since I bouught that CB250 I am learning new stuff everyday ! Utube how to do vids and THE MOTORBIKE FORUM are an amazing way to learn the basics like stripping bikes so my advice would be to you or anyone else ....If not buy a bike to fix up, at least buy an old caliper from ebay and restore it fully then sell it back after, cos what you learn doing it is priceless and if it all goes horribly wrong you have not lost your real brakes on your bestest bike ?? Yeah thats a good idea, I wish i had a garage and a ramp tho I do however have a manual, might give it a bash Get stuck in!! Best way to learn how to fix something is to break it first!! Its a good idea to buy some knackered parts to play with! I taught myself how to strip + rebuild forks the other day! Been fixing bikes/cars for years but never done fork seals before. Turns out its quite easy!! Haynes manuals are very useful and so is the internet! You can usually find a how to guide for most jobs and if you get stuck theres places like this forum which are a fountain of knowledge! How we managed before the internet i'm not too sure!!! You could save yourself alot of money!
  6. Thats sounds like a good day out mate! Its my 30th this year and been toying with the idea of a race school! Thats not too bad a price really considering its all in! Hmmmm must show the missus or print out the details and leave them lying around the house...........
  7. You could strip them down and put all the parts from each carb (assuming its a bank of more than one) and take them to a bike shop to be ultrsonically cleaned. Gets all the crud off really easily. Failing that carb/injector cleaner and be carefull!

    Help please..

Try bridging the terminals on the starter relay. If it turns over then it would suggest the relay has blown when it was shorted. It does however sound very much like a knackered battery. Sometimes the batteries will show 12v until a load is put on them ie when the starter is pushed then it drops off and causes the clicking sound
  9. Hi mate check out the Sharp helmet reports. Its a newish scheme that rates helmets with 1-5 stars. you'd be supprised at how many £300 helmets only get 2-3 stars and how many cheap lids get 4-5 stars
  10. Are you looking at the tyre or the wheel rim when you ride? Could be a bulge in the tyre sidewall perhaps?? Just a thought
  11. Try some fine grade wire wool to get rid of the rust and maybe some rust treatment? only real way would be ot rechrome them properly as they'll only get worse. Or stainless if possible
  12. I think the wheels buckled then. Do what Dan said. Take the wheel and get it balanced. When you've taken the wheel off check the bearings as you might as well with it off. The inner race should spin/turn smoothly and freely.
  13. Agreed!! Buy a new diaphragm. If the others are ripped then a new one will eliminate that as a fault.
  14. If theres no play in the front wheel when stationary but it looks like its wobbling when riding then it sounds like a buckled wheel or bent front spindle. Does the wheel look like its wobbling side to side or forwards to back? Doesn't sound like head bearings to me.

    bust radiator

How big is the hole? If its not that big try some k-seal. Its like radweld but better + lasts longer Rads might be hard to find at the right price.

    bust radiator

Radweld will only work if the hole is very small. You could try one of the metal puttys available. That should hold it for a while. What bike is it? Are there no 2nd hand ones around??
  17. I use one of these too and find them very good. As they fit with vecro they're changeable between lids too!!
  18. Personally i think you have to be REALLY careful getting your knee down on the road. Theres so many more variables than on a track. Surface changes, potholes, gravel and oncoming vehicles to name just a few. Book a track day and go play being Rossi there. You can lean a bike over and lose the chicken strips perfectly well without putting your knee down. One technique i was shown was to find a smooth quiet roundabout and practise. Get the positioning of your body right first, you'll look daft with your knee stuck out, arse hanging off the bike and bolt upright but gradually as you lean it over whilst maintaining speed you'll get your knee down. Can't remember if they mentioned what speed you needed but its not that important so long as the bikes balanced and you maintain momentum. Bear in mind though if plod is around technically theres only so many times you're allowed to go around a roundabout before you get told off!! Think its 3 or 4 times??? First time i got my knee down wasn't planned or practised! I was on an unfamiliar road going to quick for the bend. Honestly thought i'd be picking it out of the hedge but my old RGV just gripped and round it went! Felt great but my arse still twitched like a rabbits nose!!!
  19. Yeah i kinda figure that one but i'm in no rush so if i can find a suit locallish then hopefully i can pop round and try before i buy sort of thing!! failing that if i buy a suit of Ebay and it doesn't fit then it gets relisted to pay for another one!!
  20. I know what you're saying but i dont like wasting peoples time as i find it incredibly irritating when people waste my time. Especially as i know i wont be buying new!! I've just found this online so thought i'd answer my own question!! Measuring for One Piece Leathers: Most one piece leathers are sized by the chest so follow the same rules laid out in the measuring for jackets section. If however you feel your belly may be an issue have a look at this sizing guide. Euro Size 46 48 50 52 54 56 58 60 62 64 Max Chest Size (inches) 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 52 54 Max Belly Size (inches) 32 34 36 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 Size Conversion Tables Motorbike Jacket UK/USA Size 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 52 Euro Size 48 50 52 54 56 58 60 62 Letter Size XS S M L XL XXL XXXL XXXXL Motorbike Trousers UK/USA Size 28 30 32 34 36 38 40 42 Euro Size 38 40 42 44 46 48 50 52 Letter Size XS S M L XL XXL XXXL XXXXL Also found this which gives a bit more info http://www.bikeapparels.com/m/Customer_ ... uides.html
  21. Can anyone help me with what the sizes of 1 piece leathers mean?? i see loads that are 42 or 44 but what does that refer too? Chest or waist size? I'm a 44 chest 38 waist and 5 foot 11 tall so what size do i need? i know the obvious answer is go to a bike shop and try some on but i cant afford or justify a new set so will be buying second hand. Cheers Griff
  22. I went to the bike show at the NEC last year and picked up a pair of the RST kevlar jeans for £70. What i saved paid for the entry into the show and the other half got a shoei lid for £95! Down from £190! Worth going if you're after some gear!! Probably no use at the minute but there must be other shows on somewhere!!
  23. do donny out of those 2, worlds apart....donny is scary fast round but so much fun, cant wait to get back there, got some unfinished business as i've only been once and fell off lol Well heres hoping i dont drop it!! I think maybe i'll build a trackbike out of my next project!! Donny would be my first choice tbh and i've seen a few cheapies pop up now and then!
