  1. I think it would be better to go for a refresher course, explaining the circumstances. Many bike schools do refreshers for people who have been off the road for a while. http://www.bikewize.co.uk/adv.html
  2. I like the glove with two fingers as it reminds you not to grab a whole handful of front brake in the wet.
  3. Sorry, by lock nut I meant this stuff http://www.onlinebearings.co.uk/images/P/loctite_243_lg.jpg
  4. I use these, which can a faff to get on but are totally waterproof http://www.twowheel.co.uk/spada-waterproof-gloves.html http://www.twowheel.co.uk/images/thumbnails/8/250/product_image_2321_4415.jpg
  5. I have heard, but cannot find anything to confirm this, but apparently the ambulance and fire brigade will use old helmets for practicing working on road accident casualties.
  6. I have given both bits a damn good clean with a rag and WD40 and used locknut and they stayed put today
  7. Thanks
  8. The offending bolt http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8058/8179869287_f95cfd499b_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8487/8179888539_701fccda4f_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8067/8179885147_99b8b5e79b_c.jpg
  9. The thread is 8mm, the head diameter is 15mm and I don't know what the A/F is
  10. PM sent
  11. ACF50 is not for use on plastics, as it it a waste as plastics don't corrode. I was at a dealers admiring the shine on their second hand bikes and was told that good old furniture polish is what they use on the plastics as it has a degreasing agent.
  12. This is not easy, according to this chart I found http://www.numberfactory.com/nf%20metri ... 0bolts.htm if I used an 8mm allen (hex) head then it was a M12 bolt
  13. They are 25mm long and I used a 8mm allen key, so is that right I need M8x25 bolts?
  14. I looked at all the bolts on Ebay, so i would look for M8 x whatever the thread length is? (They are both turn clockwise to tighten.)
  15. The bolts on my mirror extenders have rusted such that I cannot get them tight any more. They look like this http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTuYjQgcYEq22C5lFrXnPYV1yNlzgVdU07U3bvE5hsPLM5isWE1nAl8yIbK What size are the bolts? A search on line does not get an answer. Thanks
  16. WD40 is better for cleaning than protecting. ACF50 or GT85 is for protecting. ACF50 lasts longer but GT85 has a lovely smell and is cheaper.
  17. Devin Townsend set to a groovy dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_gcMBNX ... detailpage
  18. The smaller the bike the more ridiculous muffs look IMO. I have these from Autokicker http://www.autokicker.com/Motorcycle-Mo ... B005KVQNIM which I put over my handguards so they do not flatten in the wind. They also do not have a lining, so they don't soak up water.
  19. Waterproof over gloves if it is wet and silk under gloves if it is dry. If it is very cold then Knox Cold Killers. http://www.coldkillers.co.uk/product.ht ... ndergloves If it is very very cold, all three!
  20. One of the most intensive pieces of music I have heard in a long time http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 2YgKr-D5ds
  21. x3 for Nikwax, wash and retreatment.
  22. Good luck Anyone doing Scotland challenges has won a watch at the moment with some cracking weather.
  23. Having been let down by a Mobile Motorbike mechanic based in Kirkintilloch (who took my bike then disappeared. I had to go and recover it myself from where it had been left abandoned) I have been let down by a rather large biker bloke from the Dennistoun area of Glasgow. He talked a good talk, slagged off others and then forgot to do two jobs I asked him to and got some powder coating done in the wrong colour (though it looks OK in silver). to you guys. I am now going to bite the bullet and pay the servicing and repair prices my local Kawasaki dealer asks for in the knowledge they are approachable, reliable and have done bits and pieces for free for me.
  24. As I little tip, I use a cheap ratchet strap from B&Q to keep my cover on. It goes over the cover and then under the bike. The clip strap with the cover was not strong enough in the wind. It is a Motrax Delux which has been waterproof, but I don't think they are made anymore.
