    daytona help needed

Found this on eBay.....but not cheap and comes from USA.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Dayto ... 255c2cb3c7 Trouble is that the 900 Daytona is getting a bit old now....so accessories are getting a bit scarce... Good Luck, Bob
  2. Nice job so far craig.... Feels good to see the results of a bit of paint...... and plenty of elbow grease eh.... Bob
  3. Yeah....just recheck the tension after a few miles out....just until it settles down. And as the guys say run round and make sure everything is still nipped up OK. And keep it lubed..... Bob
  4. That may quieten things down a bit for you....and reduce vibes..... But it is an Aprilia....... Bob
  5. You can get coloured polish that can help with some scratches.....but if they are deep you may need to get some touch-up paint.... Why are there people around that see no problem in damaging other people's property? Makes my blood boil.....rant over... Good luck with it mate.... Bob
  6. Well I guess it's still running OK then Andy? Last resort....read the owners handbook... Bob

    How difficult...

Removing the CCT spring will allow some movement of the slipper...but I don't remember the cam chain on any bike I've worked on being really loose. The slipper may have stuck....but even if it's loose you are not going to get a huge amount of play in the cam chain I don't think. As Fozzie says just wind the engine around a bit and if the slipper has stuck this may loosen it. Have you just removed the CCT spring or the whole adjuster? If it's like my bike the adjuster has a ratcheted plunger.....so the spring will push the plunger in and as the camchain wears it will push the plunger onto the next tooth on the ratchet. So removing the spring only will not release the tension on the CCT. You would need to remove the whole CCT plunger assy. Hope this makes sense? Bob
  8. Yep....nice looking bike.... It really depends on what you're gonna use it for? Daily for commuting etc will probably cause problems with parts.....but if it's just for fun and a coupla thousand miles a year it will probably be OK. I've no experience with that model....but Honda's are normally fairly solid. Bob
  9. Yeah...those that may be interested see the following link: http://www.thebmfshow.co.uk/bmftailendshow.html Hope some of you guys can make it..... Bob
  10. Check your chain tension too. If it's too loose you can get gear shift issues. And as Fozzie says....if the clutch is dragging you'll have probs also..... Good Luck Bob
  11. Yeah....I mean you were torn obviously with 2 gixxers....(Neil & Dave)....
  12. You gotta eat more pies Aaron......get a bit more padding on the posterior....
  13. Yeah..no probs. Mandy got a bit tangled with some cars down around Sandringham.....so we kinda lost touch with the rest of you guys. Looking forward to the next run out.... Glad you all got back safe.... Thanks to all for great company and riding......and to Jayne and Ben for getting it together for us....much appreciated... Keep safe guys....and hopefully see some of you at the Marina on Tuesday... Bob

    I wet myself

    That's ace......pmsl...
  15. Yep....weather looking OK....so we're all set..
  16. Backfiring on the overrun could be where it's drawing air in from the header. Once you fix that the problem should go away/reduce. If the new exhaust is different you may have a fuelling issue. Try the old exhaust back on and see if the problem disappears. Bob
  17. Steve Venables is running in Super Street Bike class and currently holds the UK record: 7.25s @ 199.68mph Bob
  18. Cool......that's a good time for a near standard engine. It's all Hayabusa's now..!!
  19. Excellent Seawolf...lets hope the weather warms up by then!! Great pictures Alan. Yeah "Street Bike" always makes me smile..
  20. Is that you in your avatar then mega? The Pod is only 40 mins from here....so I try to go a few times throughout the season. Used to go back in the mid-80's so I may have seen you there if you were racing then.
  21. I know it's a bit early to be mentioning this yet. But is anyone up for it? Haven't been to the Pod much this year.....but I quite fancy this one if the weather is OK. http://www.extremebike.co.uk/ Cheers, Bob
  22. Are you a deffo now Neil? Thought there was a question mark over whether you could make it. Exciting roads? is that a euphemism for rough?
  23. The Aprilia that BonnieBird just got rid of the oil was under a cover at the top of the front fairing. Owners manual will tell you where the filler is. Be careful to get the right stuff.....the Aprilia SR50 was extremely fussy about the right oil (Agip something)
  24. I think things got a bit confused....with the guy dropping his R6, talking about R1's and then Neil leaving in his Gixxer (47?....bloody whippersnapper!!!!) I am seriously worried about you Jayne......last week when it was p'ing down you turn up....this week nice & sunny no Jayne!! Then agreeing to a ride to Hunny ALMOST on Sunday morning!!!!
  25. Bad luck mate.....there were a few there tonight and we were looking out for you (although I don't think any of us knows what you look like... ) Maybe next week. Ride to Hunstanton being planned for this Sunday if you are about? Bob
