  1. So im looking at buying a torque wrench and i've noticed something rather annoying.... the range my bike requires anywhere from 6-127nm is not available? i've seen 8-60, 40-200, 60-300... could anyone prove me wrong as i really don't want to either have to buy two or go through the manual and work out what jobs ill be doing and see if they fit in a single range provided by a torque wrench. any ideas?
  2. never heard of such a reasonable 'guy' £30 for 90mins work amazing... or do you mean 9minutes!!!

    speedo

had exact same issue on by previous bike... was the speedo cable. fortunately easy fix.
  4. what do you mean by this? not heard the term flat it before?
  5. I mentioned in passing in a thread i would be painting my bike this month... the money is ready to be spent, so im looking for some recommendations on good quality/value materials to do the job with. Could those of you with prior experience/knowledge give me you 2pence worth on recommended goods so i don't fall foul to marketing/salesman gibberjabber when i go shopping. Spraygun: aluminium etching primer: Fuel tank primer: Plastics primer: torque wrench: Paint stripper for the fuel tank: others i have on my list are: 150/400/800/2000 grit sand paper similar grits of wet and dry for the aluminium Items excluded from list. Coloured paint - ¬ Lacquer / clear coat. - --I'm doing a matte finish so the paint will have a hardening agent in it. Will be made up by a painter guy.
  6. You'd definitely need some serious 'swagger' to go with such an arrival!

  8. Sounds like a properly amazing time... Hopefully the weather holds on for you!
  9. Soubnds good to me. Im Reading based so trying to work my geography but if it is weekdays ill have to consider work, but with enough notice i can make it!
  10. I'd jump out of a plane! It's a new experience... and if you're a biker you are more likely to end up doing track training later in the future. where as sky diving this may be the only chance you get to do it, and you may find it will spark a new more mental hobby!
  11. As part of my paint project i intend on doing the rims on my bike... to do this it seems to make sense that i take the wheels off, so i can get proper coverage and don't end up missing spots/paint bits i don't want to. My question is, or do u recommend i keep the bike upright? i have a centre stand but is that enough to stop it tipping forwards or backwards when one is off? preferably i'd like to have the two off simultaneously. any other miscellaneous tips welcome.
  12. brilliant thanks. ended up passing no probs. the guy was great , even let me go through it with him and actually adjusted my rear brake pedal travel distance for me, so its sweet now. guys owns like 32bikes so is a proper enthusiast. i'd highly recommend him as he does more than just mot's... dove garage, burghfield. chaps name is shaun.
  13. guys this is really late but i just saw it... thanks a bunch... needless to say it was heaps of fun... with a very special bday present indeed! ..... A Flat tyre! ..... after some detective work it turns out it was caused by the tubeless tire and frayed alu rims losing the seal... which i reckon was due to my bro leap frogging onto the bike while he was pissed that night... all very irresponsible stuff... i gave him a good punch for it though! again thnks!
  14. f**k it i have 2more hours at work before i can play Diablo 3 - yes im sad act on the plus side - http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... &start=105
  15. yep pricey but think lof it this way using the jacket as an example £400 -£100 for back protector as that's what a good one will cost to by separate. -£50 for a waterproof jacket so you're down to £250 for the jacket... itself... and generally im pretty confident in saying that the manufacturing quality is excellent. and i haven't seen too many bits of kit that combine textile with leather on the contact points. In my mind worth it.
  16. In case i didnt empahsise the zip is my fault completely for abusing them... but price, £400 a piece...
  17. I bought these to get me through the winter... My hands are yet to get wet which is brilliant and they have survived some long wet journeys. They tend to keep me hands warm however on those motorway journey in the badass cold my fingers to start to chill however i would say they have held up well in -celsius weather for a £60 pair of gloves... they have a solid thermal lining and are well armored. they dont have too sporty a look which i like. they claim two things richa with these gloves 1waterproof and 2 warm - Check and Check! worth every penny highly recommended... its summer now and i may get a summer pair but ill be honest they claim to be breathable and it seems so i haven't broken to bad a sweat in them yet... as such im hesitant to swap em for a thin elathe ronly glove http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... ?r=Froogle
  18. Shop Name: Hein Gericke PSX-RS GORE-TEX® ProShell Lockout™ Back in November i bought myself this kit as i figured im gonna be doing it in all weather so a set of good water proofs with the armor is the way to go. Figured i'd add the cost of armor into the gear. Armor.. knees, hips elbows shoulder and back (covers all even shoulderblades...) because it the aromer is so extensive around the shoulder/back you do suffer some manouverability but i get by... not an issue when riding just when moving around with it all on. The protection is excellent - firsthand experiance says it. the stitching... excellent no sign of wear and tear...(but then its only been 6months so i would hope not comes with 2years warranty on stitching.) except around the trousers zip... though ill admit fault there from wearing work trouser underneath which make it tight around the waist... HG repaired it no qualms. Gortex - cause its laminate you try out super quick... i have done a full 30min journey in the absolute pissing down style rainthe only part of me that got wet was my crotch. understanably alot of water pools there and cause its an area of lots of movment the gortex is not laminated its woven into the material so it doesn't come off with the rubbing. therefore my boxers got damp, but thats it otherwise dry to the bone. wind resistance... it blocks almost all the wind. only the windiest of days when im riding around 60+ do i really start to feel it. ALso if wearing a fleece underneath which is liekly to be the case you are really gonna sit nice and cosy. botht the jacket and trousers have removable thermal linings. Leather points -this has been swapped on the new version for tough textile patches, i think this is rubbish, as the leather was the attraction to me thought it looked good as well... shoulders, elbows hips and knees. Pockets. two outer pockets with rubber ziplock style zippers great but you have to apply this special lube to them to stop it drying out and snaggging.. only needs to be done every couple of months and comes with the kit. otherwise great idea. normal zipper with a waterproofing on trousers, wont hold more then a key, i dont use it. one inner breast pocket. one mre pocket outside the thermal zipper but inside the outerzipper of the jacket. all pockets are nice and deep so if you forget to zip shit up it won't fall out... i know ive forgotten my outer right hand pocket (my key pocket many times) and never lost anything. also some reflective stuff around the ankles shoulders and a reflective HG on the back... more fashion i reckon than function but still there and it helps. Colour is black and navy blue. All in all a great looking piece of kit and worth the price... it is expensive. but i managed to blag £200 off and a free £60 helmet!
  19. I've heard more than one person say the exact same thing... it seems screens sometimes are more cosmetic than anything else
  20. stupid as it sounds, go slow round the roundabouts... makes life a hell of a lot easier, i used to try and do em to fast caused issues... also if you are going slow and someone does the dickhead move of overtaking on the outside you have plenty of time to maneuver out the way. This principle has saved my bacon more then once, it took me realising roundabout are not for having a knee scrapping lean, they are for getting you from one road to another! except maybe at night.... did i just say that
  21. i know the feeling of having your helmet feel its being lifted off... A test I learnt to check if a helmet fits well is... put it on as normal, strap it up and then try lifting it off from the back... if it doesn't come off happy days... with regard to stop that its being blown off feeling, dip your chin slightly closer to your neck, like you might do to help prevent a cap being blown off. otherwise see it as a gym exercise for your neck
  22. oww thats good to hear wonderful!
  23. had a couple questions ahead of my MOT... what kibnd of checks might you guys do to help up the odds of a first time pass? Then my main question... it may be absolutely nothing but still... i noticed it properly yesterday when the bike is off and i push it (so probably all happens when im driving) i hear a ever so slight 'scratching' sound. It seems to come from the brake pads and disc brake running on my front wheel? is there a way to get the brake pads to have a wider resting distance between them? because surely this is gonna cause alot of unecessary wear? or maybe it is a result of wear? the brakes work fine when in use...
  24. Hi Kari It seems us sotherners are rather quite... but even if its just a few of us im game, im sure it would be a good crack!
  25. Just to say I've been using the mobile version of the site a lot recently... Its by far one of the best (easy to use/fastest) I've encountered... Love it Not sure how or who put it together but kudos
