  1. Can i get your opinions on the below pictures: This one is the zoomed out view, the liquid is actually a green colour and seems to be comeing from the white thingy (yes thingy is a technical term ) [album]355[/album] Here it is a bit more zoomed in it seems to be coming out of the join between the white thingy and the pipe. thouyght the white thingy has lots of small cracks so im thinking maybe one finally gave and its now slowly leaking?? [album]356[/album] Can anyone shed any light on this? what might the temp fix be for this? loads of duct tape? - And im assuming the perma fix replacing the white thingy? Ultimately whats wierd is it was fine yesterday! and today it is not? nothing has happened in between! I mean i rode it pretty hard yesterday evening for about 20minutes. I did accidentally redline it changing from 1-2nd when i went into neutral mistakenly, but everything was fine after that, seemed the bike recovered from it just fine. Jack
  2. Sounds like you've fallen foul to some serious douchebaggery. I would trust the Haynes over an ebay posting. But be conscious of model variations between version (i.e 88 vs 98), on particular components there may be subtle differences.

    Bike cuts out

Was about to say the same thing. Maybe, fuels not getting to it properly? dirty fuel filter? Where you experiance losses of power before it cut out, ie the throttle was properly responding! all that points me to think of a fuel flow issue. Have you check your spark plugs?

    First crash!

Hi Wolf, gld to hear you r ok. consider the indicator breaking the one of the easiest introduction to motorbike repairs. so obviously do it yourself. the process will go something like this. order replcment indicator, (see ebay avoid the retailer they put faat markups!) then more than likely you will need to tke your fairing off. so look for the contact points the fairing has.. (some suggestions - see if the wing mirrors bolt on through the fairing directly to the frame, and the side edges of the fairing) it's an eyeball job really. be sure to disconnect the electric for the indicators before you lift the fairing off then you can get to your indicators freely, and it will all be pretty self explanatory - track the cables remebr what plugs in where unscrew and recscrew a nut and bolt 30-45min job tops! hope that helps
  5. Brill cheers for the detail. It hasn't had fuel in it for the last 6days and had the filler cap and petcock out so bone dry hence the rust spots. Its not too bad, it is surface rust/ discolouration. There is fuel in it now! I may have to risk it for the week. And next week I'll have the tank off and do the shaky shaky. Bit stuck on this as I need to be riding tomorrow. And the new paint is dry but still soft so I don't fancy moving it about to much today... Catch 22 really! But anyhow thanks again at least I know how to fix it now
  6. Amazingly in the space of a week I have noticed rust appear inside my tank. I took it off Monday and today when I looked back in it I have noticed some small rust patches. Can I still go ahead and drive around or must I attend to this immediately. I'm not to keen on wrecking my engine. I'm just amazed at how quick the stuff came up! What's the remedy - tank cleaner?
  7. Alternatively I could come up along the a1 which means a lot less motorway for me, and meet you guys around st Neots? Just musing possibilities. If you have a pre thought route lemme know and then I can see what matches best from my end and link up.
  8. I'm not to bothered bout timings, though dylight hours re preferable. in terms of route, my plan would have been something along the lines of avoid the m1 If you are Cambridgeshire region we could meet somewhere round Leicester and continue on from there? or or since it seems on the way melton mowbray Hehe i hear the pork pies a pretty special
  9. Does anyone happen to be traveling from the south-east? Meaning London/Berkshire/Surrey etc region? I'm traveling from Berkshire myself and thought I'd try see who else there might be to do the journey up with!?
  10. I think someone has the wrong thread So it seems i do! duh!!
  11. Al' righty then guess I will be donning something gloriously outrageous!

  14. Brill cheers weebl worked a charm, Did the first coat of matte black today. It's looking good I'm expanding my project to get my exhaust from engine to muffler nice nd shiny. Was wondering would a good amount of autosol nd elbow grease be enough to shine it up again?
  15. That's the intention! I have no intention of sitting on the M1 all the way! Open to suggestions though! Oww and Berkshire lads do u fancy piping up!
  16. So i hear about some costume malarky... Is it anything goes? Or is there a theme?
  17. lots and lots of detail and pictures! It would get me off my arse and experiment a little more with a deep clean rather than the more superfical stuff. generally I hold back as I fear doing more damage than good!
  18. Ahead of the TMBF rally next month I wanted to ask who is riding from the Berkshire region? I'm based in Windsor and would much rather do the 3 something hour journey with others than on my lonesome! If you're in the area let be known, so we can all arrive together displaying the Royal county might rawwwrrr
  19. Cool cheers guys, for the tips, I dd go out and ge one. In the end I'm a bit of a perfectionist so rather know I'm doing it exact right then be going down the motorway with a doubt in the back of my mind. I do cover aminimum of 50 iles a day after all!
  20. So hurdle number 2, i have chipped the old paint work down to the metal while trying to remove the old grip pad down the centre of the fuel tank... Is this worth getting filler for? to touch it up then just sand it down with the rest of the tank? as i don't intend on paint stripping the whole tank. or will the 2primer layers and 2 colour layers be enough to mask it you reckon?
  21. Panel wash worked a treat! Mighty good stuff at getting rid of it!
  22. As the title suggests I have begun the respray of my bike. And hurdle number 1 has arrived. When removing decals how best can u get rid of the glue leftover? Sanding it often is very ineffective so I'm thinking there is a better way to remove the decals... Any advice much appreciated.

Must admit this mate me chuckle quite hard in a silent office.... -this is not to detract from the quality of the advice. just alwyas love it when wrench and twat make it into the same sentence!

  25. I like the suggestion of the pay off bike. and then save the extra £200 towards a Oz trip. just think by EOY you have 1.2k good to go. otherwise trip to Oz, keepsome aside for the 28k service. Esp if the £200 a month is thrashing you. thats my 2pence. J
