  1. Just a little tidbit to stoke the fire! I know a guy who was reasonably high up in the developing chain (but he knew his shit, not a high-level chat crap all day bod) anyway the software was actually pretty much ready and fujitsu (who were making it) had kept to their timelines BUT the genious gov kept added requirements late which pushed stuff back... then when costs started goign up they tried sueing fujitsu for being late, fujiitsu actually then took the hit... out of court and settled, for the sake of maintaining the contract which was redrawn more work done and i rmbr my mate telling me they were even ready for alpha/beta testing cant rmbr... but very late on the gov decided to change its mind on something... believe it was money and now fujitsu (yes it's still going on and costing the tax payer money)are sueing them... for alot!
  2. heres the link - http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/01/26/ ... twin-acta/ As i have expressed i strongly dislike wikileaks, but on this i have to nod my head as they brought it to the publics attention. Read about and lets do what we can! It seems legistlators are using all the routes available to them, SOPA/PIPA= high profile and then sneak this one in the back door.. it as bad and worse due to the international nature of it and each gov's ability to interpret its even vaguer blend of copright/piracy/counterfieting policies...
  3. Definitely looked to be a waiting game for that right moment. but very impressive, certainly wouldn't want to have to do that in a tight/rushed situation.
  4. Sounds like my wife.... They may be anonymous, but they are not watching me... They are not everyone cos they are not me and they certainly are not no-one cos then no-one would have ever invented this 'mystery' organisation. I've heard this slogan of their's and it just irritates me so much. Sounding like a wife hahaha, i hear from married men their wives have excellent networks of undercover spies watching their husbands!!! Mealexme maybe it's there on purpose. And i do know depending on your network configuration you sometimes can't bypass it cos u can't reset your Internet facing IP. E.g. if you use a static IP on your router, or corporate networks.
  5. Ahh that's why i haven't been able to watch anything on it... oww well guess it was only a matter of time. Im' sure it will spring up again as something else.
  6. Unfortunately that's not a defence any more with Torrents and a precedent of the Pirate Bay trials. It's still facilitating "piracy" (they're not pirates according to definition but that's another rant entirely) although I think they eventually got Pirate Bay on them having the .torrent files didn't they? Ahh ok then i stand corrected. I had only seen one brief news article on it. In reality yes website like tvshack watchseries etc should be deemed illegitmate as they do facilitate priacy so fair enough shutting it down. but extraditing a citizenb over that just cos america says so! f**k that its outrageous. OWw and for the WOW fans out there... yes you are out there don't hide.>> SOPA explained in WOW form.... http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.php? ... S-NOT-DEAD
  7. Yeh, i've been following ll the protests, its really good stuff! glad to see things are moving forward against these bills! i found this funny animated GIF that sums up PIPA/SOPA, have a little chuckle... One thing i would add as well in relation to the debate, and especially after reading that article techno published, i think my point on PIPA/SOPA being stopped by virtue of educating the masses and bring them to action, as wikipedia has done by creating a handy tool to track down your local representative if you live in the USA. So to Aarons point that Anonymous' tactic is valid, well i think point proven it was not remotely as effective as what i had suggested educate the masses, and they as well can rise up and express their opposition to the legislation. As a point did anyone else hear about the UK Gov extraditing the chap who start TVshack a uk Citizen to the US to be charged with upto 5years jail for hosting pirated videos, even though his website doesn't host anything, it only provides links.
  8. Works for yu then ahahha the amazing wit bomb gets dropped!
  9. ok its seems you have a way to deny irresponsibility no matter what so ill drop it... also that paragraph was the least important of the post and i'd much rather discuss that as i feel that was a fruitful discussion with opinions worth exchanging and open to influence (this latter point being the crucial component of any debate as without there is no point in debate.)this is not to say i concede on wikileaks issue as your comment does raise questions in my mind but i dont wish to pursue debate on that matter. so can we go back to the thread topic? id like to hear your views on what i posted last?
  10. i must say they are really stunning bikes... its gotta be one of these or the thunderbird sport to replace my potentially thrashed RE bullet
  11. That's bs popaganda. As you wish to believe, im not gonna start a pissing contest as to why im right and youre not. take my word for it or not but it is true. if you understand what the documents posted where and how they are used. the documents posted where patrol reports. each patrol reports holds intell on the ground what was there what the troops did. by having that info the Taliban can understand the movement of british troops etc and thus can act accordingly. patrol re[ports also hjave detailed sketch maps on em... thus providing the taliban free access to the maps we use. as the military maps are based on those sketchs/patrol reports along with the modern high tech gadgety stuff used... many an operation also uses intel from those reports at the planning stage. so those reports will be linked and thus again the taliban can use that intel to counter any move used. additonally names of informants are oin there... so if the reports is released then the informant and his family are now at risk becuase there name is freely available for taliban to get hold of... Ok i think i have justified enough why these documents endangered the lifes of thousands.
  12. while my time has been brief... "ditto" And yes alex that's some solid brown nosing... you must have earnt yourself at least one inappropriate post in the adult section of the forum!!!
  13. wow i missed alot in this thread my monday accident really threw me out the loop, typing's a bitch so forgive my brevity in a thread that deserves a better response (and i would a,lso love to contribute more but so it shall be) Techno, Aaron, i think you both have started arguing semantics. While i understand technos view of protecting ones right to reap the reward they justifiably deserve from their creation. Aaron also has a point about the abuse of it. Which is why SOPA is bad is an abuse of it. and violates the founding principles of the internet. However gone are the days of the wild wild west internet. so legislation is inevitable and I do not think it needs to be a bad thing. IF SOPA were to be re-drawn by people who actually understood computing and looked beyond balance sheets and copyright something beneficial could be created for all sadly this doesn't look to be the case. Hence anonymous' actions. Yet by anonymous' illegitimate actions and small minded approach of "bring down the machine RRRRarrrr" they will achieve F*CK ALL! guaranteed, as you cannot beat the machine. you must persuade it otherwise or beat it at its own game. Additionally to thrash someones service because you don't like what they do eg paypal vs wikileaks or sony due to SOPA support well thats just a grown up being a child.... really Anonymous could gain so much support by educating the world why not instead of being malicious use their talents to expose the corruption thus garnering more support rather than take a stance that will build support against them. Since the media is owned by these large faceless corps they need to manipulate the news. so if they are so UBER l337s0Z at h4ck1ng 4 w1n5! why don't the edit webpages with evidence and quotes from legal docs they have supposedly obtained that would embarrass people? and be much more likely to create a positive reaction from the masses and some thing the media would lap up! additionally maintaining image in the corporate world is hugely important so i have little doubt such embarrassments would definitely get people to act. all this stuff they supposedly have obtained where is it? i see no evidence? id very much like to know... and as a throw away comment, wikileaks can shove a 24ft giant pink 'rod' up itself, it was negligent and endangered the lives of 1000's of servicemen /women and innocents in afghan/iraq and other war zones. That alone is crime enough in my eyes to outweigh every good it has supposedly achieved. (this is a big personal grip of mine) anyway i guess i failed at being brief i guess holding strong opinions on something overcomes the [pain it takes to type! you should see the amount on red on this page from typos before i correct em hehe.
  14. yeh seems this is the stroy im hearing./.. but that'll have to wait untill next months budget as im nigh on skint with 22days to go till payday.
  15. Again fair enough Aaron however it is unlikely in this case symantec is leaking the code as the is from legacy security software NAV 10.2 which is 5years old. since then there has been SEP11 which was all new code (sep12.1 RU1 being the latest) so it would not make a difference to symantecs current software. ALso rmbr the detail it was from athrid party company the code was taken not symantec networks if it had been then yes that would have been a serious lapse in business integrity. Also it was a small segment not the whole lot. @ gareth NW it has chnaged alot, and you're hatred is for past symantec AV/AS is justified it had many issue (esp SEP11) and was resource intensive however if you look at the gartner analyssis reviews comparing various offerings from MS-KApersky-MCafee-trend-SYmantec the stats should be very enlightnening and may even change your mind! Or go to http://www.virustotal.com and simply search through a few virus' and the website shows very simply which AV/AS are coapable of dedecting what! I also used AVG for a logn time at home then got a free ciopy of Norton, and found 12virus on my mahine 3 of which were botnet viruses!! All in all I think i get Anonymous' perspective and approach but feel it could be more productive and less constructive if tweaked a little and some order to their actions... Yes i understand that could be seen to contradict their ethos of no leader but still a forum of people can still discuss a strategic approach and move towards in unison... thus being more effective as now many hands are working to a common goal rather then a haphazard approach causing general disarray and problems left right and center even to the innocent indivduals they claim to be fighting for. Don't you think aaron? or is this reason still to unapalatable? Are you a memeber of anonymous ha? ha? (edit- just reread this last sentence... not meant to be an attack just thought provoking question, and the final a joke unless you are )
  16. Aaron on that i say fair point. However id like to share something that has been announced by Anonymous this morning. They claim to have gotten hold of symantec enerprise secuirty product source code. Symantec has confirmed it was taken from a thrid party companys network not t heirs and was legacy software NAV10 (this is about 5yrs old and EOL). However this makes no sense why would anaonymous attack a company that is focused on stopping hackers? nor do they engage in stupidities like supporting SOPA etc. I am pretty sure Anonymous began its first acts of hacktivism to show the need for security so why start trying to comprimise these companies' products and give many dangerous hackers a golden ticket into the systems of millions of people computers? So now on that basis i consider them dirt.... (though i hope you'll take great pleasure in helping me see the otherside of it.)
  17. Ok thnks guys, i'll check it out this weekend when i have time for the repairs. much appreciated
  18. Whilst they may be doing very important work, I find their atittude (linked youtube video being a prime example) quite abhorrent. their rash declarations and reneges reduce their credibility. and general anarchist approach shallow and poorly thought out. they could be far more effective if they applied sound reason to their endeavour. for instance if they had created a 15minute video highlighting why SOPA was so bad, educating people (which is essential) and on that basis justifying their action then i think the support would be much more forth coming and their own campaign far more effective.
  19. yeh for sure some pics needed. Im in need of a beanie, a good pose could persuade me!
  20. yeah, i believe it was a Silver Saab! I believe colin is refering to him being smashed on something ingestable!
  21. Just found this article which brings some updated info on the situation and provides some light technical reasoning as to why SOPA would be damaging. It also mentions how anonymous has changed the way it intends on attack sony, by targeting the CEO's http://www.scmagazineuk.com/anonymous-t ... le/221682/ As for my thoughts like techno the anonymous individuals while i can understand their perspective relaly need a reality check and leave behind the megolomaniac self image. Or just have their mothers give em a good spanking for being so arrogant. As for SOPA its a waste of time as technology moves much faster then legislation can ever hope to keep up with and such people will always find a way round it, as the article even explains it would actually be detrimental to current more succesful initiatives in motion. As for ruining the like of justin bieber lady gaga kim kardashian etc... Please anonymous do it! cos they are just so f**king annoying i would mind them getting a slap in the face, that would be pleasurable to watch! @GarethNW so very true good point! it worrying thought that the blackhats are the ground breakers! however i do like SYmantec new approach using community based file reputation to weed out malware as opposed to the traditional signature method. (see this article for reputation based protection explanation - http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/how-reputation-based-security-transforms-war-malware)
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... jOPXpd9PSU http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act - SOPA WIKI so you can read all about the SOPA bill Thought i'd post this for people to see and so they can be aware of SOPA Would be interesting to hear people views on this, about SOPA and the Anonymous' intentions.
  23. My speedo has been acting up on my bullet 500, I have noticed between 0-20 it's nigh on useless just sort of hovers at any old place in the range. And also every now and then when im going around 75-90mph the speedo jumps to infinity speed! (if only i could actually do that speed ) Any tips on how I go about getting my speedo to be more accurate?
  24. HAHAHA @Solo very nice adaptation! garantueed to save lives.
  25. Stu could this be made a sticky so it doesn't get lost amongst other posts being made throughout the year? sorry to break your no questions rule
