    I asked for Threadlock on my last visit. Shiny-faced tool returned, smiling and waiting praise, clasping a U-lock. The visit before that, I had to suffer a good ten minutes of bullshit about helmets from another simpering gimp, like I'd never come across a bike helmet before. Maybe store staff have always been like this? Maybe I'm just a miserable curmudgeon? Maybe it's high time humans were replaced by robots?

    Halfords do camo green in a spray can. Four tins did my XJ. Did the old CG in urban camo with white and black tins of Hammerite and a paint brush. Pay someone? You can pay me a couple of hundred.

    Or, as others have noted from many years gone by, that they've crammed the entire thing into a smaller area to cut back on costs and make it look stupidly busy. But then, fair play to them if they enjoy it. I found it abysmal, overpriced and pointless.

    I took the lad last year and it was abysmal value for money. Nothing decent for free, no decent prices on magazines, a fight to get to sit on any bike, no decent deals to be had, and no chance of doing one of the activities because of the throbbing crowds. By lunchtime I gave up, drove to a motorway service station and bought him a meal (because it was cheaper than eating in the NEC). So, no, I'll not be going this year.

    I've found the pencil-style ones to be the most accurate and reliable. The cheap digital ones always break for me.

    I wish to disassociate myself from this comment. I must have been on drugs or drink or suffering from a brain trauma. If I am spotted with a Tomtom Rider 450 mounted on my handlebars then it was clearly because I've always wanted one and my life has been totally empty without it.
