So I'm talking less than a fiver for a hose, and clamp the old banjos to it... The system runs at 4 bar. Anyone ever made a pressure hose like that?
  6. IMHO kevlar jeans are crap. The knee armour doesn't sit right at all. No use in a crash and uncomfortable to walk in. Each to their own though. Maybe you can find some with straps to lock it in place. Dunno, but I consider my red routes (plus armour) a waste of £115... Any use? Hein Gericke stuff is the kitten's mittens.   8. What a fool I have been! You are absolutely right. I was too quick to assume the hose with the cut off / diconnector was the fuel in. What I have is a fuel preasure hose, and assuming it IS ruptured, a very good reason for the symptoms! Time to grab a mille hayes manual and get serious. Does anyone have any experiencing making these up and any tips? Components seem readily available... OEM is £71.72!!!!

V2 lump as Mille & Turono) might need replacing. The bike tries to start, but cuts out after half a second or so. After that, she won't fire at all unless I leave her alone for a while. Sounds like a fueling issue to me - the air is clear, and I have replaced both spark plugs in each cylinder. Unlike the fuel line, the return hose is braided. The outer cladding is ripped up in a few places, and getting my snout in there smells a lot like fresh petrol. I am mind-bogglingly broke. Anyone know if I can get away with making a new return hose using banjos, clamps and normal fuel hosing? Thanks for all the help, no bike in this weather is killing me! CvB
  10. Exactly right. I'm very happy with mine, stainless, clean weld. I don't mind the look, maybe the casual Rozzer will see the baffle and move on (and not look at the faint "Race use only" that's not quite polished out I didn't have to do anything to mine, the deep bass is still there. It's like... before I was being hit in the ear drum with a 100 tonnes of rocks, now it's a 100 tonne douvet. And for the price, you canna go wrong... let us know how you get on!
  11. I have a Falco (1000cc v twin, two cans) with mahoosively open cans in which the packing gave up the ghost ages ago. Whilst a LOT of fun, at 92db at idle it was a bit over the top. I got some of these (link below) and they have helped a lot, I still get the Rotax 60° V-Twin Thunder Rumble, but it's much softer at idle. Just get the right angle and dia.   14. Going downhill? Sorry, sorry. Erm, try googling worn pressure plate / throwout bearing? How does it sound when it's engaged?
  15. Get your self a tourque wrench (Screwfix do some decent enough cheap ones), some bits and wait for your Haynes Manual, and take your time! You'll be fine! If you're removing any fairing to get access get a tube of Thread-lock and don't over tighten the bolts or you can crack the plastic, just finger and thumb tight is enough, the Thread-lock will do the rest. When you adjust your idle, do it with the engine running (on the stand, in neutral d'oh) and remember, tiny, weeny little adjustments. Have fun!
  16. You've checked the air filter, throttle & choke cables for free play? I had a "problem" where the bike was sluggish below about 35k reves. Looked at the filter and you could have grown 'taters in it. Swapped it out and hey presto, new bike... I guess she was getting just enough air to idle, but until the engine hit a certain rev point and sucked hard enough, she struggled.

  19. Good choice. I put HG light years ahead of RST personally. My RST gloves' stitching didn't even last a season! I've punished my HG synth jacket, trousers and gloves they're still imaculate (if grubby).
  20. I feel a bit sad after reading that. I honestly can't think of another moment in my life that compared to that exact moment and sensation. Well, maybe one other (fnar), but I've flown gliders, biplanes, gyrocopters, driven speedboats... None compare. 'nyway. EXCELLENT. Keep that enthusiasm and carry on with your 5 o clock joggers 24-7. Now you need more training to prepare you for the road because trust us, every single one of those damn cage driving bast*rds is out to kill you out of sheer stupidity. You're working to become the ultimate prey animal of the road my friend, you'll need to think faster, dodge quicker and anticipate everything those murderous sods can throw at you.   22. Well matie sorry it didn't work out that time but tops to you for keeping upbeat about it! Taking what you can, mulling it over and going back is the best attitude If you're not a road user, then you're obviously at a disadvantage. Three of your main points, I might have a crazy tip for you. Practice as you walk. Sounds stupid I know but stay with me. Break down what you are doing as you walk, and compare it to being on the road. Try and identify hazards and act as you might on a bike. Still with me here? 'cos tis helped me no end with my life savers, and I still do it in carparks etc. So, crossing a side road to your left? Tap your right shoulder with your chin to check the road 5 o clock behind you. Dodging those dogs eggs? 5 o clock Life saver for stealth joggers! Walking round a corner? Pretend your path is your side of the carrigeway and position yourself for the best view ahead. But your gonna move position. Check for 5 o clock joggers! As for usual road position at junctions and round abouts, obviously keep your wheel out of the way of on-coming cars, but afford yourself the best view. Practice all this with your troly in the supermarket, too. Well, it helped me! As for your emergency stop, you'll pick that up next time - it's just progressive pressure on the front brake and squeeze the clutch right as the bike stops. Your back brake will lock easily with too much pressure because the weight shifts forwards from the rear wheel to the front, increasing front grip but decreasing rear grip. So only use a little rear brake. As the bike gets bigger and more powerful, the engine at neutral throttle really, REALLY does not want to let that rear wheel turn any faster than the engine is making it. The engine actually fights the forward motion of the bike. This engine braking is less noticable on a 125cc, but it's still a braking force. So bear in mind that you want to leave the clutch well alone - let the engine help slow you, and only pop clutch right at the end of your stop, simply to stop the machine stalling. Hope that crazy tip helps, and you get back into it soon!
