  1. P.S. I hate the term 'cager'. Some of us have to own a car for the practicality it offers that a bike simply does not. I do not view using my car as a negative experience. It is a fun utility whereas the bike is a fun toy.
  2. I see examples of bad driving on a daily basis whether I'm in my car or on my bike. But I don't commute by bike and I rarely have to filter as I only ride at weekends and try to stick to less busy roads. I always try to ride so as not to cause antagonism to other road users.
  3. Phil, my current boots are Oxtar. They used to fit lovely, but not any more sadly, even with compression socks. Thanks for the Prexport link. Can't seem to find any stockists round here though.
  4. Thanks for all the suggestions people. Paddock boots not an option as I have long legs and there's a good chance my leather trousers wouldn't be long enough (plus I'd prefer to have the shin protection). Not keen on the idea of lace up boots either, but will check out Furygan, Prexport & Altberg. I did try on some Sidis but I couldn't do them up due to fat leg issue (I also didn't like them much, they were covered in plastic clips and looked more like ski boots!).
  5. Hey people, I'm finally getting fed up of my badly fitting boots (Oxtar TCS). They were a great fit before my cancer treatment but now I have mild lymphoedema in both legs, I can only get the zip up so far and the velcro half over. I'm concerned that this probably isn't particularly secure in the event of a spill. However, I've tried on a couple of other pairs (Sidi, Alpinestars) and they were worse. I obviously have the fattest legs ever. So any fat leg people out there? Can you recommend me some wide fitting boots to save me from trying on every pair and getting increasingly frustrated?
  6. If you're thinking of buying from fleabay will you have a chance to try on exactly those leathers in that size before parting with cash? Either from the fleabay seller or at a motorcycle clothing retailer? Getting a good fit is far more important than the brand of leathers (most off the peg brands are made in the same factory in Asia), so I would not recommend buying without trying. Could be a costly mistake.
  7. A tent in October? Are you crazy?
  8. Someone on MCN was trying to convince me to go to this. Not that I'm a great believer in police harassment, I don't break the law, why would the police harass me?
  9. LOL! I didn't notice that. I just went to the EPG and selected anything that said 'motoGP' without noticing the channel number. Incidentally, if people want to record BBC red button coverage it's usually channel 301 or 302. If you look at the EPG it's listed as a 'normal' TV programme. BBC don't have any 'spare' non-interactive channels, during the day BBC3 and BBC4 are CBBC and CBeebies. But they do have up to four streams for interactive services, all available to record via the EPG. Hope this helps.
  10. I was at Donington today and recorded all the BBC coverage on both BBC2 and red button. Over 4 hours of coverage (which I have watched most of this evening). Can't fault it really.
  11. Nice to catch up with you bunch of reprobates this weekend! This little corner of Derbyshire seems to have survived intact!
  12. Morrisons is loads closer (i.e. walking distance) than Tescos.
  13. I'm not around this weekend otherwise I'd have come along. Doh!
  14. I'm walking there carrying my handbag. Snigger...
  15. He's being a bit cheeky as he often has the bar open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays anyway, sometimes with live bands. Why wouldn't he open the bar if a few dozen people are camped in the field also? Can understand the food thing, but I think Vicki's right, it's going to be just as easy for people to sort this out amongst themselves. I'm happy to pop to Morri's and help fetch stuff.
  16. Susie, I live very close (about a mile away), but sadly I don't have a BBQ. However, I'm happy to help with supplies and stuff.
  17. Last night was a bit pathetic really. I understand that the time difference means that showing Laguna live means bumping other programming. BBC2 Sunday night slot is a popular one so I'm surprised anything got bumped for a minority interest sport like motoGP. However, I do think they'd have been better off just making a decent length 'red button' programme instead. A bit of build up, pit lane walk, the usual sort of coverage. I guess it only really goes wrong with Laguna because of the timings. What would be absolutely awful though is if BBC lost coverage to Eurosport. Think of the thousands of people who don't have or want Sky. We've already lost the ability to watch WSB on television and only get BSB via a week-late highlights show. Much as I love motorcycle sport, nothing would ever possess me to contribute to Rupert Murdoch's retirement fund. We need to support BBC coverage and suggest improvements rather than slate it and risk losing it.
  18. MtotheJ, I don't have Eurosport either, but the qualifying was on a loop continuously via BBC red button last night. I don't think it's still there today though.
  19. I hope it's not an expensive fix.
  20. So is it going yet? I've not managed to break my Blade as yet, but since it spends its life under cover in a nice dry garage, that's hardly surprising...
  21. You almost rode past my house!
  22. Sheepy, if I have a drink I think I might get a cab home after last year's stagger!
  23. I'm not a camping or a BBQ person and I have a nice house less than a mile from MFN. So all being well I'll wander over and watch the fun some time on the Saturday. What's the ticket situation? Will I need to buy one or is 'guest' access allowed for locals?
  24. Well, I can't normally go to MFN as I don't get home from work in time. But today I'm not at work, so could easily wander over later...?
  25. Would get British made-to-measure two-piece leathers and a new lid, NOT Arai.
