  1. Just an update. The MTC road legal exhaust has come, been installed and now the bike has been sold. It sounded lovely compared to the standard can and the quality was faultless. Would recommend. Now I have an FZS1000 and possibly looking at another MTC unless anyone else has any other recommendations? I've heard good things about, Delkevic but does anyone have any first hand experience? I guess as it being a de-tuned R1 engine would it sound similar??? Any advice as always would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I wanted some boots that I could wear through the winter on and off the bike, and so after knowing about Alt-Berg was delighted to find out they do a motorbike range. From ordering them to delivery it took 5-6 weeks for them to customer make them, but wow they were worth the wait. They seem to be the same design as their military boots with the laces starting higher up the foot, and some extra padding. They're starting to break in, and so far are incredibly comfortable, warm, waterproof and grippy. Well worth the money.
  3. Stumbled upon these on Ebay, after looking for a cheap summer jacket. Can't find any reviews on them apart from on Ebay where people are only commenting on the delivery. Has anyone purchased from these? or heard anything about them? Thanks. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ANC-Traders-Limited
  4. If you had trouble getting the bike into gear on your test, then you didn't have control of the bike which is a clear fail. Were you putting the bike in neutral when you were stopped?
  5. GP not road legal though? Can imagine it sounds like a dragon. No its not road legal, unless mr plod does a roadside sound test your ok. My argument is it has a legal baffle (Which i'd consider buying it you were to get one) If you do decide you want a MTC ring them up, they knocked off £30 off the ebay price for me Whoops, too late! Ordered the road legal one. Should still sound tastier than the standard exhaust.
  6. GP not road legal though? Can imagine it sounds like a dragon.
  7. Ah brilliant, not too bothered about BHP increase, mainly looks and sound. Still not sure whether to go Carbon or stay stainless. The Carbon ones only have 2 year warranty where the stainless has lifetime. hmmmm, choices.
  8. They don't do one for an FZS! Lame. Look nice though.
  9. I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust for a few reasons, mainly the look. I have a black Fazer and think a black exhaust can would look pretty decent, and also would like a little more noise. Not to be a hooligan but I'd like to be able to hear the bike and for other rod users to be able to hear me. Value wise I've seen the Beowulf exhausts, does anybody have any experience with these? Or could somebody recommend any other company? Any help would be appreciated.
  10. I was told that before my Mod2, luckily Oxford lunchtime traffic was nice and flowy. I've yet to actually filter though, never had the need! (yet)
  11. Thanks for all the comments guys! Much appreciated, let the bike shopping commence! (in a weeks time)
  12. Proper chuffed, passed both first time. Nearly failed Mod2 as I crept onto a box junction in slow traffic and the car infront stopped, managed to keep my balance and just creep over the junction at 1-2mph. So ended as a minor fault for following traffic to close! Now all I need to do is sell the CG125, get paid next friday and my mates lending me £1k! Time to go Hornet shopping!!
  13. Congratulations! Mine is booked for Monday, have a full day training on Sunday. Although I've picked up a stress fracture on my foot so I may have to cancel because speed bumps and dips in the road can hurt after a few miles. Was it easier than you thought it would be?
  14. I passed about 2 months ago, clocked well over 1000 miles so far. I've not had lessons which is a bit silly. DAS1/MOD1 booked for next week so we'll see how that goes. MOD2 isn't until later in the month so if the instructor reckons I need a bit more time then I'll delay it by a few months.
  15. The tyre is 30% down on pressure, so yes it would have made a major difference and most likely the main cause of you crashing.. You should really check your tyres at least once a week, or before you go for a long ride out. Righto, will make sure they're checked regularly. My confidence is still feeling a bit beaten. Feeling pretty nervous on corners even on a warm dry day like today. Hopefully time will cure it. EDIT: How has your confidence been since your accident in November. And you say you found riding a bigger bike easier? could you elaborate? Thanks again.
  16. Checked tyre pressure, which was 19PSI in the rear! meant to be 28PSI. Would this have caused a tyre to slip more on a wet morning? I'd have thought over inflation would make it worse?
  17. Got straight back on it mate, only happened this morning on the way to work. A lady stopped to see if I was okay and that was it. off I went. When I get in tonight will give it a thorough check over to see if everything is okay. I'll try and grab a photo in a bit. Thanks again!
  18. Thanks for the replies! Well, the tyre pressure should be fine, I will check when I get in this evening to make sure. I don't know whether to tell the Mrs or not, she'll only worry because she knows I'll be doing my tests soon. I did see on the news that last night did go down to freezing, so there's a possibility of ice on the road. I have to go past on the way home for lunch so will have a look for any spills. Thanks again.
  19. I passed my CBT late January, and my theory last week. I have been fairly confident with my riding and so booked my DAS for the beginning/middle of April. This morning I had my first accident, I was cornering at a comfortable speed, a corner which I've been round in the wet before and even temperatures below -5. I don't know what changed this morning as it happened so fast, felt the back end go and managed to hold on until I hit the grass verge for a softer landing. My calf is incredibly painful this morning and have a sever limp. The bike is pretty much okay, the handlebar is pretty bent so will need to be getting a new one. I'm not sure how this will affect my confidence when riding, and with my DAS booked for next month I can't help but feel maybe I've rushed the process and should wait a little while longer? I don't ride like a fool, and as I'm still a learner I abide by the speed limits and keep my head screwed on. Anyone have any advice, or been in a similar situation? Regards.
  20. Just booked mine. Passed CBT and Theory already. But DAS mod1+2 have cost me £420. So a total of £570.
  21. Thanks for the replys. As I said it's only a few weeks old, So I think I'll take it back for a different helmet. The side that rattles you can nearly pull away with your hand, but the other side is still rigid and sturdy. I may put some more money towards getting a higher rated one. Thanks again.
  22. I bought an MT Raptor helmet from a shop a few weeks ago. Did all the checks to make sure it was safe. Really comfortable. I should have done some research before hand because I've searched for MT helmets on the internet and can't find reviews and only a few Ebay stores sell them. I've lost confidence with it, it's a flip-up style and one side is making a rattling noise and feels pretty loose. Are flip-up helmets generally prone to going wrong? Should I go for a standard full face? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Only been riding a month! Luke.
  23. I have Tuzo gloves, but a different kind. Although they have Thinsulated material and look warm, my hands get pretty cold in minus temperatures after a couple of miles. I think they're okay for the price.
  24. Very helpful video, planning to book my Mod1 very soon and that helped answer a few questions.
