  1. It was just to see if the upgrades were tangible. I love the Shoei, of all the helmets I tried, on, it fit ss if it had been moulded rind my own head, like a snug slipper.
  2. I've got the original NXR and it's a great helmet, no real complaints at all. I'm looking at the NXR2 and wondered if anyone has one who could share their thoughts, especially against the NXR? Particularly interested in noise and side to side field of vision.
  3. Cheers. It might do, it might not - only one way to find out. Whilst the CBR was not my forever bike, I do not regret it for a second and would buy it again if I could turn the clock back. I always wanted to own and ride a 4 cyl, faired sports bike and it was great, just not the best fit. The Fat Boy, even if it turns out to be a short termer, I've always wanted one (and a Harley in general) and unless I give it a go, I always will. #bucketlist
  4. Just realised I got you mixed up with Westerly (also helpful) when it was indeed yourself who spent a lot of time assessing my positioning and giving sound guidance and advice. My mistake, my apologies and many thanks once again!! <hangs head in shame>
  5. You are 100% correct, I was just trying to get my head round whether this was a thing with bikes as it can be with cars. I guess as a more emotionally driven purchase, short term ownership is more likely.
  6. Yep, bought a Fat Boy. Over the last several weeks and thanks to the good people on this forum, especially RideWithStyles who has been hugely helpful in advising on my ergos, the bike the fits me the best, is super comfy and ticks a MASSIVE bucket list box is the Fat Boy. And in the interests / context of this thread, 1 owner, full history. I'm going in to hospital for an operation so won't be getting it until the end of the month, can't wait.
  7. Thanks all. I managed to sell my CBR this morning and coincidentally saw a different bike shortly after that just spoke to me on every level so have gone in that direction, just got to wait for delivery now.
  8. It's a 2006 Harley V-Rod CVO Screamin' Eagle, identical to this...
  9. Totally get what you're saying, but would a 8+ owner bike put you off if you were in the market? The change of mind/circs is perfectly plausible as per my own experience, but how many times on the same bike before it raises questions and causes nervousness? Just curious as to what is considered the norm with bikes, as my experience is mostly car based where low owners is highly prized (on certain cars, not all).
  10. I've been looking at some older and more rare bikes recently and one in particular has caught my attention - the major stumbling block for me is that as a 2006 bike with 11k miles (with full dealer history), it is on it's 8th owner. A small part of me thinks that once at a certain age, you should just judge the bike at face value and who cares how many owners it has. A larger part of me thinks that if the ideal scenario for a used bike is to buy from the original owner, each and every owner after that is a step further away from that ideal and on that premise, my onward sale of the bike as the 9th owner with the next buyer contemplating being the 10th owner could significantly impact the ease of sale and potentially it's value. I appreciate that onward sale and future value is not important to everyone, but it is to me as I never keep cars/bikes for long so being able to recoup most of that spent is important. Would 8 owners put you off or is it just me?
  11. Yeah, will p/x if I need to, just trying to minimise the trade vs retail gap to save some money, but accept the security and convenience of p/x. Hoping to pick up a new bike in March for the latest plate, unless a good ex-demo comes along.
  12. It's a good job that wasn't out when I bought mine, as I'd have contorted myself onto that instead no doubt. And probably sold it even sooner! I can see myself on a Harley the way things are panning out. Just out of interest, is there a go-to place to advertise bikes privately other than here and FB groups / marketplace?
  13. Advertised it for sale to get the ball rolling on the next one.
  14. *NOW SOLD* I have owned from new. 800 miles - just had first service at supplying Honda dealer. Sports Pack includes quick shifter, rear seat cowl, tinted visor, tank pad. Honda heated grips. Evotech frame protectors. Evotech bar end weights. Evotech fork protectors. Evotech tail tidy. R&G rear bobbins / protectors. Grip Puppies. All paperwork, books, keys etc. All original parts, retained, boxed and included. Immaculate, unmarked and as new. Never ridden in rain or salt or been dropped. Kept in heated garage. Only selling as I'm just too tall old for it, but bought to tick a sports bike bucket list as my first 'big' bike. Mature rider / owner. £6,995. Location: Wirral CH49. Not looking for swaps or trades.
  15. Shame as it's such a pretty bike, the earlier 'A' models have more appropriate, higher, further back bars that'd be ideal, but I'd never find a 20 year old bike in the condition I'd want so I'll probably rule them out and I'm not into customisation or swapping parts out. I did call into my local HD showroom on the way home and yet again, the Sport Glide felt like it had been designed around me. Without doubt the most comfortable bike I've ever sat on.
  16. Went to look at a potential purchase, a 2007 V-ROD VRSCX, but the reach for the bars wasn't comfortable and my desire for cool was trumped by my desire for comfort.
  17. Thanks and all the best for 2024.
  18. I saw the twin rear shocks and took an ignorant guess on the Dyna - I'm absolutely not knowledgable with HD. I'll need to ride some as from all the reviews, there is so much conflicting opinion it's difficult to assess what's what.
  19. Thanks - the only Dyna(?) I like the look of is the original A spec V-Rod from 2002-2006 as that gives me enough 'wow' factor for my own personal taste, but finding a cherished minter with original un-dinged, all original brushed aluminium airbox and non-corroded trim appears almost impossible. I like my bikes absolutely split mint as new/perfect so buying used is unlikely unless it's been a dry use only, low miles piece of art rather than a mode of transport for someone. That and the ones mentioned with the M8 are the only ones that I'm personally attracted to.
  20. Had my last scoot out for the year earlier, but even with the heated grips, it was too cold to be fun so returned back within the hour but enjoyed myself nonetheless despite confirming it'll be new bike time as soon as test ride season re-opens.
  21. I have a very small one. There are three main factors to consider when ultrasonic cleaning. The least important in my experience is the size and power of the machine, they all do the job of creating micro surface cavitation and the power tends to go up in relation to the size of the unit and hence the size of the part to be cleaned. The next most important factor is temperature - a heated unit will far out perform a non-heated unit - hot dirt will soften and fall away more easily. And in my experience, by far the most important element is the fluid used - the stronger and more potent the cleaning agent the better, depending on the type of dirt you are trying to remove. My only other advice which sounds like won't be applicable in your situation is that ultrasonic cleaners are not great at removing grease, so a thorough soaking in a solvent where grease is present first will help.
  22. Yes, the 2021 model. I'm in the position of wanting a Harley from a bucket list perspective and I'm someone that gets Harley's and doesn't try to cross shop other brands on a spec sheet and hence I avoid all those discussions. I've recently got my first big bike, a CBR650R, but as great as it is (ticking the 4 cyl, revvy, faired bike box) it's too cramped for my 6'4" frame and too 'intense' in it's area of USP - great at high revs, full attack, but not enjoyable pottering along in a 20 or 30 zone. I've no interest in speed, track days, getting a knee down or anything like that. I also have no interest in long distance touring, carrying a pillion, luggage capacity or tank range. I have no shame in admitting that one of the (very) important elements to any bike I own is it has to make me go 'phwoar' and feel bad-ass riding it so any decision will involve a huge element of personal subjectivity. Having visited my local HD dealership many times in the last few months and sat on most of the models multiple times, the bikes that give me the fizz and feel comfortable to sit on are: Sport Glide - the most comfy by far - feels like it was made just for me but would have to lose the panniers and fairing immediately - feels like a more useable Fat Boy? Fat Boy - what my heart really wants (because Terminator 2, obs), but aware it might handle like a pig, scrape pegs and have a novelty that wears off very quickly as a result. Fat Bob - maybe a good mix of the above, although something about the stubby styling I'm not 100% sure about around the rear fender area. Sportster S - I adore the custom concept design but might be a bit too small for me and I've read endless complaints about terrible ride comfort and rear suspension which would irritate and put me off the bike after 50 yards. I know the answer is to test ride them, but always good to hear non-youtuber reviews from owners who have spent their own money on a bike and can share honest opinions or to point out anything I've missed. I prefer the price of the Sport Glide I must say and don't find the Street Bob or Softail standard comfy, nor do I like the look of the lowrider S front end fairing and instrument pod, so both are off the table.
