Danny-B- Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Well today was my first shot at the MOD 1 test. I failed, hitting a cone on the bloody swerve.Managed everything else fine, well i got 2 minors, one for observation and one for E stop. Not sure what i did wrong on the E stop, perhaps took too long to slow ?Anyway, before the test i was shitting it and tbh i thought i'd fail anyway, as its been over a month since i did a practice run at the mod 1 and a whoopping 3 weeks since i even sat on a bike, due to lessons being canceled Ohh and when i turned up for the test, i had to use a different bike to the one i usually train on (both same model but this one was a carlisle bike, i train in Dumfries) so the clutch biting point and the brakes were slightly different Im not too pissed off really, infact next time i think i'll be alot more confident, perhaps my nerves just got the better of me on the swerve this time. Will be next year now before i can get my arse back in for another go, 2010 sounds better than 2009 anyway Quote
Guest Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Aww mate gutted!Next time see if you can have an hour practice before you take the test? I think next time you'll be alot better, i was, probably mostly due to nerves etc. Also you now know the test centre, and exactly what to expect Goodluck for next time!(oh and all the best rides fail Mod 1 first time ) Quote
satnavsatnav Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 unlucky m8 im sure you will cruise through next year Quote
Mightycaz Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Bad luck matey, It took me 3 goes before I finally heard the words I'm pleased to tell you...........Did you really hit the cone or just knock it? My instructor said it was normally just a minor for clipping the cone on the hazard. Quote

memame Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 aww well not to dwell on it. you booked a new test yet? Quote
Guest Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Bad luck mate. On the other hand i am pleased to tell you I passed both my tests first time (even though its a lie!) Anyway it is important to get your swerve right, it might save your life. I once had a bast*rd horse jump into the road when I was doing about 60mph, and I knew the brakes werent gonna do much given the distance I had to work with. Quote
rac bolton Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Bad luck !only passed mine recently and its so worth having some time on the bike before getting there. still had nerves but blew some anyway on the journey.Better luck next time Quote
2fast2soon Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Bad luck mate. You were doing 60 past a horse?!? No wonder it jumped out, it was probably bricking it wondering what the screaming noise coming up from behind was. Next time slowing down might be better than relying upon your swerve. Keep at it Danny, you'll get there in the end, I hit one of the cones on the figure 8 on my 2nd attempt, passed 3rd time round though. Its worth it in the end!On my first fail the instructors tried to cheer me up with some stories of the more spectacular failures, one guy wheeled the bike backwards over one of the cones, with both wheels, and then kicked it out of the way. Another managed to hit a cone when he failed to perform the emergency stop and sent the little cone flying into the perimeter fence, it was wedged in there. He passed on his 10th attempt. Stories like that makes you wish they recorded the tests as I'd have loved to see the guy kick the cone out of the way. Quote
