Hey guys and girls,

like the title says, got my mod 2 tomorrow morning at 10.55, feeling kinda nervous as I really dont want to fail.

Dont suppose you have any helpful little tips do you? just things I should watch out for or know etc etc.

Btw, I havnt been taught any of the 'checks' or 'questions' I gte asked at the start of my test, anyone help me with them? thanks :D

Plenty of observations

Treat the examination as a sat nav

relax, dont dwell on mistakes you made, he may not have even noticed it.

Have fun

EDIT: Show me/ tell me, so if he says show him, do it, if he says tell me, then tell him..

For tyres, 1mm min tread depth across 3/4 of the entire circumference of the tyre., check for any cuts, and bulges on the tyre wall.

for brake, ask the examiner to assist, sit on the bike, turn ignition on and ask him to see if the brake light shows. if he says tell me, then say you would use someone else to assist you, or use a wall etc to see the light shine up.

For hydrolic's (the front brake) tell him it should between the max and min mark, same for engine oil.

For pillion, they would affect the bikes steering, braking, acceleration. Tell them to sit facing forward, not to let go, or turn around to face the person behind

i was asked how i'd adjust my chain tension if i needed to.

good luck for tomorrow. it might sound a bit daft but it worked for me - try to think positive. if you believe you can do it's much more likely to happen and it helped with my nerves quite a bit.

and try relax, you'll do fine. they know you're nervous and aren't trying to trick you or trip you up.

For the questions:

As for tips:

Life savers and make sure the indicators are turned off! Don't force other road users to brake and don't confuse them by changing your mind last minute, i.e. if you've indicated left for the next exit/turn, go left, don't change your mind and confuse people (that's what I was told)

Oh and don't give up, even if you think you've failed - you only now you've failed when the examiner says so at the end. They might not have seen the mistake!!!

Good luck, you'll be fine!

Thanks for that link! going to come in very very useful!

And thanks for the advice guys, one question I do have is, if i'm going down a road and there is a bus lane, if there is a queue of traffic and I don't use the bus lane to get past them all and I just remain in the queue wasting time, will I be failed for that?

No unless it specifically says, then motorcycles aren't allowed in bus lanes! (and i believe there are only a few places that do allow it) So dont :)

Yep and the place where I'm doing it (Hull) is one of the places where you can use them haha :/ but surely i'm allowed to just remain plonked in the traffic if I want? its safer anyway!

I was told that if I was taken on the route in Blackburn that goes past the bus lane then I should use that lane. I missed it on one occasion during training and the instructor said it wouldn't have gone down well in the test - not sure if that means fail, but I'd recommend using the lane if you are allowed - that way you're easing congestion in the other lane and making progress safely - which is what the test is about.

Good luck.

or if you can put your other hand beyond the light and the bulb will reflect in your palm.

Indicators, check ,double check by pressing,(I nearly failed, just got minor).

Speed limits,20's, 30's, & national, try to get up to speed as well.

Unless you do something dangerous, they don't go out their way to fail you.

Good luck you'll be fine.
