keith565 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 hi guys.not sure if i'm in the right place.i have a helmet but it has no sun protection, tint etc. any ideas what i can do to reduce glare. Quote
Pete Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 You can wear sunglasses or fit a tinted visor. If you do go the tinted visor route though make sure you only using during daylight hours as they're not allowed once the sun goes down This rule also applies to wearing sunglasses after dark I believe. TC Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I wear Sunglasses.A lot of people dont agree with wearing sunglasses but it works for me.Cant remember the make of them but they are made to some Bike spec something or other.I find them easier to carry under the seat when i'm not using them rather than carrying a spare visor. bigsisterbiker Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 i've got a yellow insert for my visor. i find it cuts out glare, sharpens everything up and is very good in cloudy, grey conditions too. which is what it's meant for as far as i can remember Quote
Si 2the Mon Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Sunglasses seem a good option and like TC said, can always put em under your seat! Quote
techno Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I have a dark visor, tried sunglasses before but they were a pain! Quote
j4ff Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Sunglasses you will loose some peripheral vision.Tinted visor is the best option.Tinted insert like fog city.Light reactable inserts Hyper optiks. Quote
Guest Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Pretty much, word for word, what I was gonna say Them hyperoptiks are very good Just don't ask Ratser, cos his kept falling out I have never had problems myself though! Quote
keith565 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 thanks guys, i'll have a look for the hyperoptiks. i tried sunglasses, but with the cold, they steam up something rotten. Quote
lingy3 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Got some mountain bike 1's from Aldi, come with 3 change lens, black, yellow ,clearThink they were £3.95. Quote
Guest Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 i have always stuck to a tinted visor works for me never had any problems.. i have a bandit helmet and nver had problems with steaming up brillant helmet just a little costly Quote
Jimmi_929RR Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Tinted visor for me. I don't ride in the dark so i don't have to think about switching it over. I wear glasses so sunglasses are no good unless i wear contacts (which i don't want to) or buy some prescription sunglasses (which i don't want to do either). I tried those cheap stick on dark visor inserts but didn't like them. Quote
wilko20 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 i have just bought a new helmet that comes with a tinted visor in side that comes down with the push of a button behind the standered clear visor and then returns the same way similer to what pilots have in side there helmets very cool lol Quote
JimiB Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 same as wilko here. caberg . but i think the yellow tinted safety glasses would be good . uv protection . ( on some of them ) plus enhances light at night time. At the same time as reducing glare! Tailor suited if you ask me. Quote
