boyant Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 hi people quick but serious matter to discuss basically i'm going to mount twin headlights onto my cb500 now i know that i have to drill a hole in the bracket for the spedo cable to go through, but basically how can i shorten the wiring loom that is installed into the back of the stock headlight ( its curled up around the back) its far to long and too long to even push into the nook and cranny's where the twin headlights would go, so is there a way i can cut and shorten the wiring loom? many thanks in advance Quote
bex Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 get some connectors and then get cutting, its a simple job when you got the tools, but make sure you get the connectors and to tape them with either wire wrap or shrink tape after Quote
boyant Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 isit really that easy? (: thanks for the reply if anyone else can offer any more suggestions it would be greatly apreciated (: Quote
megawatt Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 If wires are 6" too long, cut 4" out of each wire, strip back both ends, twist together, solder and insulate ends. When all wires shortened, wrap tape around all soldered endsvto make a single block. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Just get the 'proper' connectors with the snap-in pin sockets (available from all good electronic stores) and do the job properly, just taping up will lead to problems down-stream. Trust me, I've been there! Quote
