Well, now that I am deffo attending the Rally, I was thinking, if enough people interested, of doing a Bike Maintenance Class !

Hoping to show those a bit nervous of doing their own, how to ;

tension chain and check alignment,

clean and lubricate chain

change and check engine oil

adjust, replace cables

tighten bolts without stripping threads

remove and replace brake pads

carry out electrical fault finding

carry out fork oil replacement

set up suspension to suit you

fitting lowering links and setting up

If you can think of any jobs you were thinking of doing, but were too afraid to do yerself, add to this list and I'll bring spare parts and tools with me to show you how to do it? It really is a lot easier than you think to do your own maintenance.

Pretty cool idea!

Would be pretty good if anyone is unsure about this sort of stuff, however I've always learnt by taking it to bits and then spending a day trying to put it back together with only half the tools i most cases :lol:

A really good idea imo - I'd definitely be interested (even on stuff i think i know, a reminder/alternative method wouldn't go amiss!).

Suggestions: Valve clearances, carburettor balancing.

Thought I ought to add a disclaimer to this thread;

Any advice I give is purely my opinion and is how I would carry out a maintenance task. Not necessarily the right or best way to do it, just my way. If you damage your bike or body after taking my advice, I am not taking any responsibility for it!!!!!

There , I've said it , for legal reasons, but I will feel a bit guilty and may help you fix it if you buy me beer, bacon or show me rude things(girls only) :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Which day/s would you run this on? (or is this too far in advance to know?)

I'd be intrested in the valves and carb's if you'd spare a few mins. :cheers:

(Even though I can't stay, I still plan on popping down to see y'all :lol: )

Thanks.

It shall indeed, but for him to answer your torrent of questions, he'll need his hands and mouth free, to demonstrate. :D

Just wondered if people are still interested in this. If enough interest in engine maintenance, I will bring my spare GSXR750 engine and do valve clearance and timing checks. Let me know what you want to learn or see and I will bring the tools. Don,t mind working on your bikes, but I,m disclaiming any responsibility if anything goes wrong. Not that I expect it to?
