Chimera101 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Right I don't know much about batteries but here's what I think any how.If you can test the output of the battery to see what sort of charge it's supplying and also to see if it is definitely the battery and not any other issue causing the bike to cut out. As far as I'm lead to believe the bike engine should really be doing all the work after the bike is started and should help to maintain the charge of the battery. If you can drain the battery to as close to zero as you can before recharging it, as this sometimes helps the battery retain its new charge (no idea why). Obviously I don't know what charger you have but check that 8 hours is enough or that the light has gone green or however it shows fully charged. If it's still cutting out, I'd get a new battery. If it cuts out after that they you have a fault somewhere in the wiring I guessProbably not much help but it's all I got.Good Luck Quote
megawatt Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Probably the battery, but I wouldn't flatten it, that,s for nicads! Trickle charge it for 24 hrs at least. Don,t use a car charger, too many amps. If this doesn,t work , borrow a mate,s battery, to check if it,s your charging system. Quote
toon83 Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 wow i feel really annoyed went to jordons and they said the battery was done for. so i bought another battery and new charger and went out it was ok until i turned to bike off then all went tits upthis is what happens it charges up fine and can be turned on and off as many times as you like no problem. then when you go out for say 40 mins and the bike is warm and you turn off the bike it won't turn back on. the screen flicks and the battery makes a clicking noise and exhaust dial spins around and the battery wont start the bike but everything else seems to work fine horn, side light ectany idea what the problem could be Quote
toon83 Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 just did a quick charge and turned it on and it cut out after 10 mins and the bike felt really hot in the garage at the front end Quote

Guest Hodgy Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) It could be the reg/rect or AlternatorHave you checked all connections between battery, reg/rect and alternator, especially the earths? It must be a substantial drain to flatten it so quick?
