I think the only blackbird we saw was when we were back home in Bonnybridge. :(

A nail through the back tyre at Fort Augustus. No dealers open today or tomorrow with the bank holiday so the whole trip has been written off. I am back home absolutely gutted. Where do these nails come from? That is two punctures in the space of 3 months.

that really sucks, how did you make it back?

Think we saw some of the Guzzi club you saw heading home, passed a couple of trikes and bikes wearing Moto Guzzi Club hi vis vests heading down to Gretna this morn :)

The recovery I got with my insurance, Green Flag, but it was a company from Spean Bridge with a van marked specialist motorbike recovery.

There was the usual pish explaining where I was

me - the car park at the tourist info at Fort Augustus

them - have you got a post code? what is the name of the road you are at?

me - no and it is the A82

them - it will be far quicker if you give me a post code and what was that road name again? The ayeate...what?

me - the A82, as in Alpha eight two. Are you using a local contractor?

them - yes at Spean Bridge

me - fine they will know exactly where I am

them - it will still be quicker with a post code

me - no it will not

etc etc and she won over the post code as I went to tourist info to find out what there one was. I still had to wait an hour and 3/4.

At least you could get one!

When i broke down outside stirling I had no idea and don;t think there was an a/b road number. Would have been about 15 minutes walk to get somewhere that may have know a postcode (and then not even the right one)!

Sorry to hear about your nail Ian - i ran into the first flurry of snow at Fort Augustus on Friday afternoon (was heading to Inverness for the Grail photo rally).

Sunday was the crappest day out for a wee while, could have been the monster hangover mind

TC - i took my number this time!

Easy mate totaly ilegal but quick LOL

I 'broke down' (honest officer) on the side road just north of t'bridge. No traffic on this side road so piece of pi$$ to get a photo.

Traffic was horrendous through the city and what is with the bus lanes? Some show motocycle on the signs, some don't. Could not see any logic to it!

Off to BVI next week but can't seem to spot any 'tags' to get from over there?

Thanks, I copped some snow leaving Tyndrum. Now making up for that disappointment by doing all the pubs today and tomorrow - or am I tempting fate again

TC -score and photos changed to reflect I have managed to do a Royal Oak twice

Pubs done. Edinburgh was fun - not! The White Hart in the Grassmarket is easy as there is a M/C parking space opposite it. The White Horse in the Cannongate was a matter of jump off quick photo and back on again. Yellow lines and the road narrowing makes it not a great place to stop. The Rose & Crown in Rose St was straight forward as it is pedestrianised, but there are no signs up stopping vehicles from entering and I needed access to take an important photo!

Otherwise it was a nightmare of cobbled roads in the rain, blocked roads because of the never ending tram saga, tourists with a death wish crossing roads (they look the wrong way!) and some odd signs.

What a top days riding 270 miles around Yorkshire and lancashire.

The Manor bikers cafe is a hidden gem. Looks like a normal farm from the road and as you ride up the gravel track, you then turn into a courtyard full of bikes with a cafe loads of tables and a garage.

Thanks to Rach and devans for the company

Well thats the last pics i'll be uploading for a few months at least. While i was at Anglesey race track i came off on the hairpin and broke my ankle, foot and collarbone. I had to have surgery to screw my foot back together but it looks like it went well and its healing now.

I would have also posted a pic of the ponderosa but being the muppet i am i forgot to get a pic as we were leaving cuz it was raining :x

I'll hopefully be able to play again if my injuries dont stop me from riding.

Be safe everyone as i can assure you being bed ridden for months isnt nice.

Heres a pic of my foot a week after surgery, dont look if you dont like scars.

And heres how i did it, i think i lent the bike to far over and came off the side of the tyre.

Totally my own fault as i wasnt hanging off as i have breathing problems and i was knackered lol

First properly hot run in the sun. 8-) My new denim jacket and trousers did the job keeping me cool. Whoever suggested The Glen Cafe and the Tibetan place should get an award, the roads are superb

I had a little divert at the Glen Cafe and went over the Captains Road, one of the very few legal off road roads in Scotland. Its only 3 and a bit miles, so I turned round and did it again. :D

It is rocky, rutted and even in the hot weather had big puddles and yes I did drop my bike again, sort of. It rolled off its stand as I opened a gate. No damage though. The part in the photo is the only decent bit, forestry roads are in better condition than that road.

The Ayr road from Moniaive to Dalmelington is great as well.
