Just ordered one from the US as this brand seemed to get good reviews on the Triumph RAT forum. But has anyone else used them and have any opinions on them?

I have one fitted and you do get a bit of sediment on them!

Not sure who makes mine though

... thought they were all magnetic? No?

Are car one's magnetic? If not, why the hell did I think they were? lol

I wonder if these would make any difference, it might catch small amounts of metal shavings but surly the oil filter would catch them anyway if you didn't have one?

Like I said above I do get a bit of sediment on mine which shows the filter doesn't get it all

They are, most things on bikes not new, in 1972 the 850 Guzzi had them as standard, having said that the oil filter was an internal mesh filter.

It dose seem like another defence and i might consider getting one if i change my plug.

having sediment dose show that the product is working but i was trying to say is if you dident have the plug wouldn't the sediment just get filtered out, the plug might of got some of the sediment before it had the chance to go through the filter. I hope that makes sense as im not sure its clear enough :|

I guess it is at least allowing your filter to be kept a bit more clear and a sign of how the engin is waring.

It's that fine that the filter could let it through its like a paste

Ah thats interesting, might have to get one next oil change then (if i hace cash about...)

Not really, would never have got through filter

I know that but the fact that all that has come out the engine in only 3k

Yeah it is a bit worrying but im sure its quite normal. Shows why oil changes are important tho :)

I thought this was a standard. Everything I've had has had one. Why not magnetise your own. Next time you scrap a microwave, pull out the magnetron and remove the magnets. Very strong. I've been using a pair to magnetise screwdrivers etc for years, fished my keys out of a drain with them too 8-)

I think the point they make on this website and in other discussions is that the magnets need to still be effective at higher temperatures.....so any old magnet will not necessarily do the job.

Personally I think that it is a small investment if it could potentially prolong the life of your engine.... 8-)
