Guest Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hey guys,The hugger on my CBR600F seems to just be 'there'. It would appear it is held in place by cable ties, the problem is, it now sits against my rear tyre.I've tried moving the ties but no luck?!?!It's driving me mad and destroying the hugger!Any input or help would be huuugely appreciated! megawatt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 A piccy or two will help mate. I drilled some small holes in the front lower edge of my hugger, both sides, and tie wrapped it so it couldn't slide backwards onto the tyre! Quote
Roadtorque Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Huggers usually pick up the points from were the chain guard was fitted, as yours is fitted with cable ties I suspect yours is not right the right one for your machine,,,, Quote

I would imagine it's destroying the tyre too ...huggers should be held on with nice study hex bolts, not cable ties!!! Can you imagine if the ties snapped and it ended up wrapping itself round the back wheel? Even if it's not the right hugger for your bike, surely you can trim it as required, then be inventive with an electric drill and a bag of hex bolts from halfords and secure it to the bike better! megawatt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 If you post some pix and do some measuring , I can probably make you some fixing brackets. Quote
Stu Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 as already said post a few pix it sounds to me like its not got the correct fixings on to hold it in place or it needs some adjustment Quote
Guest Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I'll chuck some photos up tomorrow. We checked the chain guard, no fixing points so yeah, we assume not meant to be there. And now I am freaking about it wrapping around the tyre! Quote
megawatt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Do what I said with some cable ties at the front or just remove the hugger, it's not essential.. Cable ties very rarely snap, that's why policemen use em as handcuffs!!! Quote
Guest Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Well, i'll grab the damn thing off tomorrow and see what i can do with plastics. Unfortunately, it's already worn a pretty impressive hole into it, so needs replacing soon Quote

Guest Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Right, i've just got the bast*rd thing off.The previous owner has put 2 slits for the cable ties. There's a hole about 2 inches long in it. Buggered?! Quote

Tango Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Nice.......won't have done your tyre a lot of good either..... Sounds like you need to invest in the Real McCoy........(and not a bag of crisps)...... Quote
XmisterIS Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 What the previous owner did screams out "bodge" to me ... Bodging is often fine for DIY jobs, but the words "bodge" and "motorbike" are likely to result in the words "death or serious injury". I only ever fit the correct parts to my motorbike!! Quote
Guest Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Yeah, can't say i'm impressed. Well, it's off, now it's another case of saving for a new part, always the ones you never thought you'd need to replace. Quote
