Zod Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 So earlier on I was having a problem whilst on my way home from the Mumbles in Swansea. For some reason neither gear was very responsive or as responsive as they should have been and as soon as I got into the 40 MPH zone the bike struggled getting up to 40, the chain was recently adjusted so I don't think it had anything to do with the chain and shifting down a gear didn't help much either as the bike continued to struggle. Was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if so, any advice on correcting the problem? Quote
rennie Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 was it windy?, uphill?you have extra weight on?brakes sticking on? Quote
Zod Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Well the tank was full, no wind, brakes were ok though I did have the top box on which will have produced some drag but no extra weight tbh. As soon as I got home I checked my tyres and tyres are fine, checked the chain slack again and that's fine, went out after that with and again without the box on and it still occurs even without the box on. pointblank0 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Compression may be a little low. May have blown a gasket somewhere causing it to lose speed. Quote
Zod Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 I hope not but, there isn't any harm in finding out. Will take a look at it later now before it rains again. Quote
gandy666 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 how tight was the chain after adjustment.maybe you got tight spots and it needs replaced Quote
megawatt Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Did the revs increase without a speed increase or did the speed and revs not increase??? Quote
