Hey Guys

So I'm picking up as 2004 fazer on Saturday

Currently it has scorpion exhausts with the baffles removed, although the seller does have the baffles and theyre a walk in the park to refit

Sooo I havent decided what I'm going to do, I was going to ride it home without them anyway, just to judge if the noise was too much/annoying, which might make my mind up for me anyway

My only concern is, are the police actually that fussed? If I did ride without baffles am I likely to find myself on the side of the road getting a talking to? I mean its pretty loud but I've seen and heard louder bikes (especially as I live 200 metres from Ducatti Manchester)

What would they do if I was stopped? Producer? Ticket? If I'm generally being sensible and not speeding, will they leave me alone?

I think its a 30 quid fine at worse you can't get points for it unless that's changed!

I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest

looking at your sig on left will you of passed your mod2 by saturday or are you riding home illegally?

Test is on Friday...gulp

If the worst happens I have a back up biker who will be riding it home for me :(

Hopefully that situation doesnt happen. I drive a company car for work - wouldnt ride it illegally as couldnt risk losing my right to drive

Cheers for the heads up guys. I'll try it with and without the baffles and see what I reckon, I suppose first priority is pass tomorrow!! As long as I keep the nerves in check I'll be fine. Don't think I've been this nervous since I picked up my A-level results!

Can confirm it's £30 quid joy! It's all down to chance and luck  Would loved to see the copper who pulled us go and pull a Harley club ride out.

Good luck with the MOD 2, I had same situation when picked up my first 600, a hornet, the guy just handed me the baffle before I left. Chucked it in my bag and did not think much of it. Had no trouble on way home but have to admit was very very loud with it out, and I liked it to begin with but soon became bit too annoying on longer trips and reinstalled it.

Fuzz side of things, I thought something had changed recently in regards to loudness of exhausts and what they can do, not sure though, there's a guy down my road who starts riding a chopper from around this time of year till sept and his is ridiculously loud, I think you would be very unlucky to be pulled for it, is very rare in this area of the country that's for sure.

You can get knicked make no mistake! And not even for a loud pipe if they think the pipe is none standard with no kite marks they can knick you. My bike was stopped in traffic, the copper on the bike never even heard the motor running. Lincolnshire police on race day are the shites, easy pickings is all l can say!

I was once pulled in Cornwall as part of a Bike Trap (I.E. if its a bike it gets pulled over) while on a little 50cc poor excuse of a scooter. while going through my paperwork & kicking the tires etc a guy on a harley got stopped as well with what I can only describe as extra loud straight through pipes.

They weren't bothered in the slightest as apparently a Harley is supposed to sound like that

I guess it really does depend on the Copper who pulls you :D

I doubt you would get nicked for a loud exhaust! A friend was telling me recently it all changed not long ago in regards to outlines on it and unless it states on the exhaust "Not for road use" then there's not much they can do. If someone is riding around with an exhaust that says "Not for road use on it" then cant complain if get done for it.

Cheers guys

Yeah tbh I had a kit car with a huge exhaust, and fun as it was, after an hour over the hills to Sheffield I was sick of it and my head was banging, so I expect it might get baffles for most days. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, as long as I don't f**k up getting out the car park I'll be fine once I'm 200 yards down the road - silly little things can unnerve you!

watch this space :D

different tone from a bike you probably wont have any bother

also wear ear plugs it stops you going deaf from the wind noise and will drown out your can :)

Just been to dismantle our broken dishwasher and see if I can make it less broken. Turned out the plug had come out, put it back, all ok.

OMG this is the best day EVER
