Guest Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 im not very happy atm as i just failed my motorbike theory test.this morning i had new front brake pads arive and as i was trying to fit them i found itnext to impossible to get the old ones out.if u dont no i have an aprilia rs50,i no how to get them out(theres a row of 4 bolts,i need to remove the 2 centre ones)but as far as i no ive tried everything and they wont budge.ive tried by hand,brute force,lots and lots of wd40,a hairdryer hopin that it would expand slightly and losen,ive even tried attatching an allen key to a drill but nothing..was wondering what else i could try...thanks Quote

Guest Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 This is what they meanhttp://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/Caliperbolts.jpg Blue arrow is pin that holds pads in, it may have splitpin in the end. take out bolts that hold caliper inplace, remove plastic cover, get a bar/pole and slide in betwen pads and prize open (all the way) remove pin and slide pads out, slide new pads in, replace pin, fit caliperback on to bike You may need to use a small clamp to push pistons back if bar/pole isnot getting them fully back, but care is needed so leave old pads in till prize pistons open if you canhttp://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/05/07/c-clamp.png Quote
