NooBish-AbbZ Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I've searched on youtube but can't find anything that shows me directly, so turning to TMBF How is it possible to get a bike from side stand to rear paddock stand without any help? Quote
al_stu Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 There's not trick exept - carefully!Just line up one side of the stand with the swing arm, use one hand on the grab rail to steady the bike and and push the paddock stand down. Bike will straighten up then lift.I've done it a few times on my own, getting it off the paddock stand is scarier, but needs must Quote
mattycoops43 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I tend to hold the bike vertical with one hand on the seat, as long as you keep it vertical, it's fairly easy. Then use the free hand to wheel the stand under the bike, once the stand is touching the swingarm, the paddock stand will hold the bike upright, so you can take your first hand off the bike. Quote
Adam Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Lean your bike up against a wall so the handle bar stops it tipping then do whatever you need to do with the stand Quote
chris_589 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Got myself a front wheel chock off amazon, it's great as I now don't have to rely on the misses being home to get on my paddock stand although I guess it won't help if your doing the front wheel. Quote
al_stu Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Well if you put the back on first then you can do the front no problem Quote
NooBish-AbbZ Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 ok thanks guys, finger nail biting moments will ensue I'm sure Quote
Mr Fro Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 It is quite dicey doing it on your own.Maybe my stand isn't the best but a few times I've neary tipped it over because I've not had one side engaged properly. My procedure:Ready the stand!Get bike off sidestand and balanced (leave side stand down).Shuffle round the back of the bike while keeping it balanced so you end up directly behind it.Line the bobbins up with the stand jaws and step on the back of the stand while hoping everything is where it should be.Congratulate yourself at a job well done/Hope next doors kids didn't see and look on ebay for new fairing panels.*To take it off the stand I just bung a chock under the little wheels of the stand and push the whole bike forward.*Delete as appropriate. Tango Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Get an Abba stand mate.....piece of p*ss to do on your own with one of those..... Or buy a Triumph with a single sided swing arm and the appropriate paddock stand.....also a piece of p*ss to get it onto the stand single handed..... Quote
fq-craigus Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I do mine by myself, I position the stand roughly where it needs to be, stand atthe rear nearside facin the bike, tip it verticle, steady with one hand whike adjusting the stand to position, using my foot I start the stand and get it holding the bike verticle on its own then lean down and push the stand down with one hand while steadying with other hand.I think its ome of those things that there is many ways to do it and you will find a way that works for you. I have the bobbins on my rear swingarm so I will get my own.stand soon (as im using my dads universal one) and ikl get one with the fingers for the bobbins Quote
